What if Ubisoft lie to the ESRB rating people? I mean for example some gaming companies will release a game in a specific state where they essentially don't have certain functionality in order to get past the ESRB rating or the rating of the first group of Gamers who actually purchase their game, but then a few months down the road, they will implement the stuff that most gamers are against, because they know they can at that point. Like there was a recent game I think it was Diablo something, I'm not a Diablo gamer myself, but this is how it unfolded essentially, the developer released the game as is and people purchased it and love the game, and after the game was out for about a month or two, the developers decided to release some mini DLC not really DLC by the way, it was paid to win nonsense, so they first waited until everyone bought their game, waited a few months before they snuck in a little update. We all know why they did this, it was to get more money, but again they lied so that they could implement this a little later, part of me feels like they should get a fine for doing shit like this in any game, because that rating changes into something else when initially it looked a certain way. It would be like Ubisoft holding back on the gambling bit, and then waiting for everyone to purchase their game in order to only release that real gambling into the game a few months later, what's stopping them? Nothing, Nothing is Stopping them, they could essentially add all kinds of things if they wanted to, they can add porn if they wanted to at that point, because everyone purchased their game right. So who holds these companies accountable for making a decision after the game already came out? Like most businesses there's somebody who audits a business, or somebody who inspects the business, or inspects products from the business, and if they're not up to par with that rating, they get negatively affected with fines, but what kind of fines would actually put the fear into these companies, would be to put a large amount of money as a fine, something that they couldn't realistically get away with, something that would be very costly according to their earnings, something that would make them think twice about doing anything like this, that's what we need.

If games like Elden Ring can become mainstream despite the difficulty and learning curve, why doesn't Ubisoft create a realistic Assassin's Creed game with realistic parkour, realistic armor & weapon stats and durability, Hitman style outfit swap, responsive AI, etc. I think the market is ripe for such a game. Edit: I would like to add that Kingdom Come: Deliverance has a great balance of realism and fun, and can be used as a benchmark for my comment.

Prediction: Ac mirage is going to be reskinned Valhalla with “stealth” missions similar to the last Valhalla dlc. Combat will be roughly the same with all your stealth abilities being on an ability bar similar to Valhalla. There will still be numbers above enemies heads. Parkour will be the same as Valhalla but they’ll add “parkour down” back from unity.

I get the skepticism but "Unity's gameplay but on consoles and PCs that can actually run it at an acceptable framerate this time" doesn't sound too unfeasible to me, especially when we know that they have another RPG in the pipeline with the Japan-set game Ubisoft clearly (and desperately) wants to appease as many sides of the AC fandom as possible; both the people who enjoy the newer RPGs and the people who pine for the older games, and just releasing games in both styles is probably the most foolproof way to do that.

Glad to hear there won't be any modern-day or futuristic playable missions with the Animus included in Mirage. I feel like the beginning of the series did this rather well with cutscenes that made sense and continued to tell the story with Desmond at the same time while switching back and forth between the Animus and main story. Over the course of the series it's gotten further and further from this to where it doesn't add to the story at all anymore. The last several games especially, where we interrupt the story by using Layla to collect random bits of "data" and having a voiceover from her colleague explaining the evils happening behind the scenes at Abstergo Industries have just fallen flat and become rather annoying more than anything else.

My assumption on the gambling part is that they'll use some gambling games that were popular in the Middle East. This is historically an area where some of the most significant gambling concepts and techniques came from. I'd imagine that, you're right, something like Red Dead's poker games will be in there. It is likely that Ubisoft did something a bit bigger than that and the game raters simply did not understand it, and assumed that people were paying with real money. When it's likely that players would gamble with in-game currency instead. This sort of confusion has happened in the past with some games, so that does not surprise me. I do like the fact that Ubisoft was quick to point out that real gambling won't be in the game but also, no lootboxes either. Which IMO, is a big deal that they would make that specific statement.

I will never understand the bizarre approach Ubisoft chose when it comes to AC. There are so many ways to naturally evolve the traditional AC formula and expand on it and yet they chose to just throw random sh1t at the wall to see what sticks. A sci-fi/historical series about Assassins and Templars became a weird fantasy uchronia about demigods, magical abilities and mythology. I remember when the original Assassin's Creed came out in 2007. Before the game was published, it mas marketed as an "assassin simulator". The emphasis was on blending in, silent assassinations, hiding from enemies, parkour and chases. And then the series started to systematically lose all of those features in subsequent installments. It's just bizarre to me.

I mean, that’s the idea Ubisoft is attempting to push. You buy a cosmetic and you can use it in other games. I think the reality is much simpler: Ubisoft has a hard time shipping any game, why would Mirage be an exception? The project has ambitions to be a return to origins and a fan-favorite or whatever, so they have to put more emphasis than usual on quality, which is hard. The game had quite a short development time, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear the first playtests were like « yeah it’s nice but still feels like a Valhalla expansion » and then they delayed the game to actually rework the fundamentals (stealth, combat, parkour) like they were originally, not the much different version we have now. Also by the way, ESRB work with a questionnaire: no one is actually playing the game there, you just answer their questions and provide footage for key moments so they can assess it for themselves. It’s very likely there was a confusion (on their end or on ESRB) if they included a mini game that involves in-game currency. ESRB already said they don’t consider loot boxes to be gambling anyway, there’s little chance they rate NFTs as adult only, especially since this will happen outside the game

And yeah having that random moment where algorithm point me to this video and you say this, it has helped me to maybe save like 150€ in case everything would go bad for mirage so thanks ! Have a great one, really good video and hope the best await you.

Been very much ignoring most updates on Mirage. This is mainly because of the fact we've seen no gameplay (as stated in the video), meaning we can only go off predictions for the story, which, if it even closely links to Valhalla or any of the modern day stuff since 2017, promises to be, in my opinion, total dogshit. However, in terms of pure gameplay, I had high hopes for a return to Unity's style, with the setting being a dense, detailed, and historically significant metropolis. This would also mean transport methods are limited to feet, or stealing someone's mount. However, this being the first video on Mirage I've watched in some time, I've just learned that there's a deluxe pack that gives you a horse skin, this suggesting that Basim has a constant mount. WTAF!? Also, another of my wishes was to return to proper eagle vision (the sense, knowledge, etc.). Although I did like the concept of an actual eagle in Origins and Odyssey, it was ruined in Valhalla. As a result, people lost love for it, and realised that it had always been an unexplained lore-breaker. But, yet again, the deluxe pack has an eagle skin. If Ubisoft have made any effort at all to return to form rather than just lying in the teaser (which, at this stage, I wouldn't put it past them to do), then, so far, I don't think they understand the extent of the change much of the fanbase wants from this franchise. Right now, I predict Mirage to be pretty game, fit for a few compilations, and another fat pile of soulless cash for the Ubi executives. I hope so desperately to be proven wrong.

My one question, and this may just be me forgetting things, is why the game got rated for the trailer/listing. Aren't games typically RP until closer to release? The ESRB usually evaluates the close to the final product for the sake of accuracy. They'd probably have to rerate it if it wasn't close to done. If anything, maybe this is even further evidence for this theory, as they got the game preemptively rated because they knew there was a very real possibility that the ESRB would hand down an AO rating purely on the basis of the NFTs, and wanted to check that ahead of time.

Doesn't take much to figure out the play here. Ubisoft really don't know what gamers want so they want to create numerous versions of the same game and from that they can gather sales numbers and my guess is the one with the most is the one they will continue to develop to become the infinity they hope to milk endlessly. They are trying to be a jack of all trades but as usual they are a master of none. You could've explained the entire premise in less than 28 minutes lol.

idk how this game could not feature a modern day story. the end of valhalla has you playing as basim in the modern day and using the animus AS BASIM. i know ubisoft loves nothing more than blue balling the modern story but this really needs to be explored.

Aside: Variant of NFTs in video games - Procedurally generated cosmetics at premium pricing alongside a real money marketplace (wherein the publisher gets a cut of all proceeds). Something to consider: Had Ubisoft introduced NFTs in a format that wasn't an awful clumsy mess in a game that was actually good and popular, would we be where we are today?
@vex4jfs759
@vex4jfs759 Жыл бұрын
My baseless speculation: it was a translation error. Ubisoft is primarily a French speaking company. The closest word to mature French has is adulte, which is also the word for adult. So somebody at Ubi working on the game sending an email to a French speaking employee who is working on the announcement event that says “we are targeting a mature rating” would translate that into adulte. Then when they look at the list of esrb ratings they would reasonably assume they meant adults only
@vex4jfs759
@vex4jfs759 Жыл бұрын
I only say this because the esrb rates based on disclosures from the publisher, the esrb doesn’t play the games until after release (to validate the publisher’s claims). So ratings are generally self-selected by the publisher. Rating pending happens when there’s some disagreement between the publisher and the esrb or if the publisher wants to withhold their chosen rating for some reason (for example they’re worried a T rating would turn off some fans and harm preorders)

I have a conspiracy as well. Notice how you said this is the "33rd" game to receive the A only rating? Well isn't "Assassins Creed" all about secret societies like the Knights Templar, Freemasons etc? What if the 33 represents the degrees in Freemasonry and they purposely made Assassins Creed the 33rd game to receive the A only rating as "symbolism" for Masonry?
