I used to drive a 1999 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet m6 for 13 years until Feb 2019. It was a wonderful car, but it was time to trade it in. I now have a 2019 RS5 Sportback with Dynamic Plus, Dynamic Ride Control, Driver Assist, Dynamic Steering, etc., etc. - just about every performance related option I could get. There is no comparison - the RS5 is *leagues* better than the older Porsche. The only thing the Porsche had on the RS5 is being a lighter car by nearly 400 kg, it felt much more nimble in its handling. But, that's it. The RS5 is point-and-shoot, rides on rails, and because the power distribution is biased to the rear wheels, has much less of the traditional Audi Quattro understeer. It's my daily driver and my weekend fun machine. As a different reviewer said, "the Audi RS5 Sportback is the Swiss Army Knife of cars". Don't trade it for an old Porsche. Take it from me.

Definitely agree with a cheaper daily. I’m in the UK and have an older diesel Audi A6 for a daily and a Lotus Exige V6 for fun and track days... you definitely appreciate them more! A GT4 is an awesome choice, that’s the only car I’d move away from Lotus for. First time to your channel by the way - great video 👍

Good day Wize, love your channel! To answer your question, I know what you mean about having a "crappy" daily driver Mine is a 2018 S4 which is far from crappy, but i also have a 2011 Ford Flex (I'm in Canada) and for extra fun also have a 2011 BMW 1M. Although the Flex is my utility vehicle and technically far inferior to the other 2, I still enjoy driving it and i don't care as much if a careless shopper happens to ding my door! The car i drive the least is the BMW as i want to keep the mileage down as it's becoming a collector car now, but oh man is it special when i take it on a nice day down a winding road! Yes, i too take my S4 for granted but it is a fabulous all-around car - thought about the S5, but love the S4 iconic nameplate and i may be a little more old school with a traditional "sport sedan". Oh, and for the record a 911 Carerra S, RWD would be on my bucket list (6MT of course) but the GT4 is sweet.

I own a 2017 S6 and looking to buy newer... Most of my driving is on bumpy countryside roads. Q1: How do the comfort of the suspension compare between RS5 vs S5, is it much rougher? Q2: is the RS5 worth the $$$ vs S5? Thanks for your help!

I have an 2018 RS5 coupe. Only have 1500 KM’s on it over two years! Clearly, I don’t really use it very much and instead drive my winter beater (2004 Toyota Camry) all year round. Less stress, has four doors, and I don’t really care what happens to it. However, when I do take the RS5 out, it is very special. So having a crappy car and a nice car, IMO, makes driving the RS5 all the more fun.

I have a similar problem with my RS3 Saloon. I got the feeling of getting something new but find it hard to find something better overall since its such a good car at everything, so thinking of going 2 cars like you. A comfortable eco daily driver on lease, probably a Kia or Mazda, and an exciting weekend car. So far in the UK, the cars in budget for me are the 1st gen R8 V10 Plus Manual/S tronic, Ferrari F430 (the manual is too expensive though stupidly), Lambo Gallardo, 911 991 Turbo (more likely the GTS), Maserati GranTurismo, F Type SVR (quite cheap but depreciating badly) or a Lexus LC500. Theres also the Aston Vantage but not sure about that, C63S AMG is quite good too, Lotus Evora also an option. The Cayman GT4 to me would be too firm, it seems more like a track car than a road car and I wouldn't go on track. It would be the F430 Manual but Ferrari prices are crazy, JayEmm in his video on it said the manuals used to be cheaper than the auto's for it.

Thanks. Over here in the UK, the Cayman GT4 costs at least £62.5k and we don't have good roads, so I think it will be too firm. The prices have been screwed around by investors who have inflated them, 718 GT4 starts at £75k but the cheapest used one you can get is £86k, the 981 Cayman GT4 started at £64.5k. It does look really nice but I don't think it would match with me for those reasons.

I think the two car model can work well to preserve the more expensive of the two. To keep costs down, the second car must be economical to own and operate. I agree that the A5 interior is getting dated compared to the newer A7 family and even the A1, but it is what it is. Personally I think the new 911 has the mix of analog and digital nailed. So, Porsche 981 S 6M would be a good thing, matched with a Polo. Thanks for the video.

wow - sometimes I feel like your American twin brother. I've recently been kicking around ideas for my next car and am debating between an RS5 Sportback or "dual car" solution like a used Porsche 911 plus a used VW Golf. My gut feeling was that getting a "one car that does it all", would end up with me feeling like you do currently, but still whenever I see RS5 sportbacks I stop and stare. I am also debating what generation / and how much I would want to spend on a 911. Right now, I'm thinking of a 2015 or 16 991 in the high 50s, low 60s (USD). But, I also like the idea of a "depreciation proof" car like an air cooled 911. On the other hand, I'd like to be able to put my kid in the back sometimes to go for a family drive and wouldn't feel safe doing so in an older car.

Moved from a 2018 S5 SB to the 2021 RS5 SB and it's totally worth the extra cost (since there's no way to chip a S5 and still retain warranty in the U.S.). The RS suspension and shift pattern makes it a totally different beast compared to the S5 also. This will probably be my last 'New" daily car for a while as my future plans is like your. Going to set aside a large chunk of cash and start playing in the used supercar market.

@WiZe19724 жыл бұрын
Greg S Exactly what I was about to reply 😊
@nikhilraniga3 жыл бұрын
@@gregs8685 I wouldn't agree at all saying it is *much* better and sound is subjective. You'd be surprised how many Audi enthusiasts prefer the S5 exhaust to the RS5. Again, subjective. I have a '19 S5 and was about to go for the RS5 but the 20k difference didn't add up to the value. Don't get me wrong, I love both but even if you look at performance reviews, the common report is that going from an A5 to an S5 is astronomical. Going from an S5 to an RS5 not so much. The interiors are the same but there are differences with the stitching of seats, steering wheel and HUD and a few other things. Now, when it comes to looks, both are beautiful and of course the RS5 has an incredible aggressive stance and wider kit. I love it. I would argue that would be the most substantial deciding factor. You need to consider some other costs like the brakes. Those ceramics are VERY expensive. In fact, I was racing a 2018 GT2 RS on a track earlier this year and I realized the owner removed the ceramic brakes for traditionals. They indicated that aside from cost, a lot of track cars will opt out to use traditional rotors because they tend to perform very consistently whereas ceramics need warming up and for everyday driving, the will feel "squishy". Obviously these cars that we get won't be living on the track. In terms of performance, you can easily get an S5 in RS5 territory with a tuning box (non-invasive to ECU). You'll see some of them get to 0-60 in 3.9 easily and on high octane 3.5. That 3.0V6 in the B9 co-developed by Porsche is under-tuned. Personally, if I'm buying second hand I would look at getting the best possible deal with an RS5. If the gap is still 20k between the two, I'm not convinced it's worth it. I say this with respect to my driving style and my preference to value aesthetics and technology over performance alone. In the end, is the premium you're paying for valuable to you. You will love whichever you choose. Incredible cars!
@borisbolshoi73174 жыл бұрын
If you can afford a 964 can't you afford a 911? I'm basing this question on right hand drive prices. I'd love a Porsche panemera I saw this car at an autoshow I thought it was amazing. Yea i think as an everyday car i would prefer an electric 5 series or a6 with fat tyres and acoustic glass, the range seems a bit crap on the hybrids though, but yes if you drove a normal car then something sporty on the weekend it would make it more special.
