My twin sister has high function autism. Her view of the world has given me a new perspective on life. We may not be traditional twins but we still share clothing, talk about life, and sometimes on a rare occasion she will tell me she loves me. I wouldn't trade anything for my sister

I also have autistic brother, and he's my favorite brother and I wouldn't trade him for anything. Just this Christmas he saved his Social security money to buy me a $50 Starbucks card, along with gifts for our entire family. He is the most thoughtful, giving and happy human being despite the issues he may have.

dear Jenna, people will appreciate you more and you'll realize your value once you exit the vicious stage of puberty. you have so much in you that will come out once you mature and get a bit older. trust me. then you just need to find your tribe and do your own thing.

Man it's so sad how horrible life is until you're like 16, kids don't understand, people will love you for who you are once you get out of high school.

Kek it's true hun. Things get so much easier when you are older, when it comes to people. Alot of kids in high school are bullies, there are no bullies really at all when you are an adult.

I have high functioning autism and it never get easier there are good days and bad but as I've got older my autism has changed and has become more manageable I found ways to fit in , mostly by mimicking other people's behaviours and slowly finding the person I wanted to be life can seem foggy sometimes but there's always those super sunny days . That's the best way I can explain autism .

I don't have a twin, but I have a sister, and I have autism. I suppose for me, because I've known about my problems for a long time, my life has been a lot easier than maybe that of Jenna's regarding social situations and academics. Sometimes I still have problems with social understanding, but it's not so obvious to most people. So when I do tell people I have autism, it does surprise them. Either that or they'll deny it, which is both awkward and annoying. As for self esteem, I'd say that Jenna's probably had less of a problem with it than me, judging by the way she talks about herself and how others treated her. I hope she's living a good life now. My life's great. I wouldn't trade autism, or my life, for anything that I could be offered. And the things offered to me in the first place I'd earn tenfold, because I know I can get them without changing myself to something I'm not. I only want to change for the better. Taking autism out of my life would not be for good, and I know this because I see plenty of people without autism around me every day, and they're not nearly as perceptive, thoughtful or grateful within themselves or towards others. Yes, I'm sure there are people who have all these qualities within them without having autism, but if you come across an autistic person, it's more than likely that you will face a person with all three of these qualities, whether they're verbal or not. I'm proud to be autistic, and anyone else who has autism or any other disability, or who are in any other minority that are discriminated against should be proud to be themselves without conviction or hesitation. Life's too short to worry about how the masses are going to react to your personality, way of life and qualities. Be who you are without shame. That's the best life to live.

Everyone is saying " I think she was misdiagnosed" but she was actually misdiagnosed by society. Putting a label on some shit isn't right. She would probably feel a lot better if people stoped doin that. Yes she may have problems. Who gives a shit? Everyone has problems.

Jenna reminds me so so much of my sister, who also has high-functioning Aspergers. I understand Rachel's perspective very well, having the sister that's "different" but completely normal to you, and watching this, I feel like I know these girls on a personal level. I wish them nothing but goodness and love

My best friend has Aspergers and I’m so happy I’ve got her in my life. When she was younger she had a much more difficult time with her learning abilities and social abilities but nowadays it’s certain things she can’t understand or things she gets fired up about. I find it easier to understand autism as a cube made of blocks, most people can take them apart examine them and put them back fine, but others may have difficulty understanding how it works or may not be able to see the lines at all. Though everyone’s experience with autism is different, at their core their all just people with opinions and desires.

If we approach Autism Spectrum Disorders with the right attitude, treating it symptom by symptom instead of one whole umbrella it can be more like a gift. I have Asperger's myself and I've turned most symptoms into gifts that help me achieve things, more than what people expect. I still find communication like conversations difficult, but rather than dwelling too much on my weaknesses I dwell more on my strengths.

This really shows a difference between a female set of twins (one with Autism and a neurotypical) and a male set. I've got Autism and have a neurotypical twin brother. He didn't want anything to do with me throughout our time at comprehensive school. These girls seem to get along well together.

Autism is a spectrum. I happen to have autism, and it's very high functioning aspergers. I understand, and am extremely bright. Autism isn't always the way people think it is. For me, I get panic attacks. Things pop out without me thinking about them. It's hard for me to make and keep friends, and hard to know what's socially acceptable.

For the record, she is classic Aspergers Syndrome. This is a form of high functioning Autism. My son is Aspergers. Even in this part of the spectrum, there is a wide array of different traits. They all have the "basic" traits, but they are quite different in their mannerisms. It's a really hard syndrome to evaluate. They really are quite different (but the same intrinsically).
