I'm sad to hear that, I'm French and I found them despicable too, you did well to change family. I also had a bad experience in Spain (a similar story as yours but yours is actually worse), you did well to leave. It's so important to have a chat with the last au pair that the family had. Happy to hear it was going well with the new family :) In France the employees has more right compare to the employers so if you have all the proof you'll win (but it's a lot of paper so it's better to finish well as you did and asking for help from other people)

Definitely was the moms idea to au pair, and she didn’t want it for the family reason. Which is confusing bcz why would you support a young woman in another country to just work for you
