Popular is my favorite SuperMarket I Loved it I felt like a kid in a candy store The supermarket was cleaned and well stocked and the best part Costomer Service was on Point When ever I am back in my Home Popular is my number one Supermarket ❤❤

Im from Trinidad and when i visit barbados for a week (which i do every year), the first thing i would do is go to pricesmart (with my Trinidad card). I have found over the years that the most expensive meats are Chicken and Pork because Barbados protects their local farmers (unlike Trinidad). Beef especially mince is very cheap at pricesmart, and so are many fruits and vegetables even imported ones. What i cant get there i would buy at Massy or TriMart which is close to where i stay. But Barbados is much more expensive than Trinidad. Most groceries in Trinidad have a "Dual price" system for most goods that most people dont realize. Many products are often 2 for 1 because its close to expiry or the want it moved off the shelves, you can get lots of products like this (like those expensive cereals for half price). While i have not seen these half priced items in Barbados groceries, Pricesmart has them, and they are products that end in XX.70 or XX.10 - which are typically less than half price. I would also only buy what is in season when it comes to produce. And I would certainly never buy over priced US goods (like Tide laundry liquid) when you can buy a good locally made/packaged item for like 1/4 the price.

The Essential Everyday brand in Popular almost always tastes like brand. The Mac and cheese tastes just as good or better than Kraft.

Aw thank you! and you're so welcome! It definitely helps for the uk/US items but had up for basics, you'll definitely be fine buying them here! I almost wasted money buying basics beforehand. Only thing i brought was my fave teas, my stevia sugar and if you need protein powder, i got it from price smart. everywhere else is EXPENSIVEEEEEEEEEEEEE

@@Chazeen Looool girl I know!! my first trip I remember trying to buy cereal and coffee...never again! I've never been to popular discounts though, I usually shop in Massy or the markets in Bridge town, so I'm definitely gonna check it out when I come, seems reasonable.

I highly recommend Pine Hill brand for all juices, it is an affordable local brand and the best on the island.

Oh girl... it definitely can be but checkout the comments in this video for a few more suggestions on cheaper options. I usually head to massys for US brands I can't find anywhere else. I actually love cherish, been to popular but cherish nothing beats thier prices my fiance and i spent $1500 at price smart i only shop at cherish every 2 weeks things i can't get at price smart i buy at cherish

I found Oranges expensive. I saw they sold Waitrise water that was so pricey. I bought the less known brand. I visited in Dec 22.

I always recommend Popular to my Airbnb guests for cost saving items. Then Massy Stores, Clifton Meat for on international and local brands. If you’re here for a couple of months, then buy in bulk either from Hanschell Inniss or Pricemart (you do need a card). I always say each to their own. See those local markets in town, st George and Christ church? Even roadside vendors? That’s the best for produce! We import 95% of our food I think so prices will be high.

At 2:24 $14p/kg is $7 lb If you buy whole, you got (back then, 1y ago) chicken for $5, now it's $6-6.50 per lb. Which is a good savings bc you get more for you $. These packaged chicken, you pay for the packaging and weight. But tbh, overal, for convenience the cut is worth it. Just rense and cook immediately. I do buy it occasionally when I'm lazy to cut chicken 😅.

The only error made here is the purchasing of fresh produce from the supermarket. Best and cheapest place for fruits amd vagetables is lower greens in town. Amazing vlogs though. You're very thorough.

@@Chazeen no please🤗🤗. Lower Greens refers to the second bus/van terminal in town where you can catch buses/vans to places such as speightstown, holetown, etc.. its basically a long street stretch where multiple vendors are stationed to sell their produce. Also np keep up the great content! 😃

Minced chicken bbd$31 p/Kg That's $16 p/lb ???? You can buy 2lbs of cut chicken for less ($) and mince it yourself. Pulse it half frozen in food processor and you get minced meat! I find popular always have quality and fresher meat compared to massy tho.

I wouldn't say it's best. I'd say it's pretty even. Popular and cherish is the best price! You'll only find a few items less at massy but end spending over $50-100 more if u don't budget wisely at massy. There scare me!!!! I only go there when I have spare $ and need something that popular don't have or for fancier snacks. But otherwise, nope!

Cheapest flour, rice and sugar you'll get is a Guyana 🇬🇾 brand ! Many local can cost wayyyy more. Even bread are pricey here. Duty & tax on FOOD is ridiculous 😒

Organic chicken in UK can cost 7$ maks u can get hole chicken for 4$ to 9$ in barbedos that is expensive and your video is 5 mouth ago so was even cheaper. Barbedos is expensive do not to mension other stuff. But I look at the wages they get payed well to so is nice country to live
