Today the bulls get seamen tested, resulting in bad news for Mike the bull… he is sub fertile and im not happy.
Farmer farming in Scotland, Cows, Tractors, Farm Shop, Crops and alot of breakdowns, failures and destruction...

Videos always a treat to watch. I have more problems with bulls getting lame. I do have a lot of springs wetting my fields. Just had a fella last to divine the springs and tell me which way the shore them.

Hi Crawford your cardboard problem. If you shredded it and mixed the cardboard with the old cattle bed then put it on the compost hep. That would save on the skips. Thanks I enjoy your videos Jim from Redcar Yorkshire

Horses, cows, pigs etc like to roll/wallow in mud as it can help regulate temperature, keep insects off and can help soothe any itches etc. Also it looks likes fun - no really! There are studies that seem to find there's a social or entertainment value to it 😅

Dang it, he might not be a superstar bull, but maybe you can make it work if you have a backup bull for him this season to take 2nd round of heat in the herd? Well knowing moving bulls around is never fun. Finders crossed for Neutrons crown jewels are still in working order, even though they are not so shiny.

Would be worth looking at possible mineral deficiencies like iodine affecting the bulls fertility. That said, the amount of feed that goes into bulls nowadays as Cammy says with tups, making them obese affecting their digestion/health/fertility long term. If it’s the latter, there are serious issues that won’t be sorted until buyers stop going for overfed bulls. 🤷‍♂️

You're having no luck with bulls & fertility Crawford. Mike performed better than Percy. If he is the dominant bull hopefully the other 2 will cover. Mike>Euro>Jimmy 1180, 970, 890 Jimmys back end certainly muscled pushing Euro.
