It took me 7 months to finally see a video of this infamous journey I had!

Extremely satisfying crunch when the ferry goes down. Can't wait to see footage from you of the Emeralds sinking in conditions like this.

In my early teens I would wage school just to ride the Ferries on days like these.

What a sight!!! 😍😍😍😍You've done something I wish i'd done 25-30 years ago when riding these ships! In another comment, someone asks about how the ferry is "pushed" into the swell. Simple! The ferry has a timetable to keep. 30 minutes is the long running standard travel time between Circular Quay and Manly. The Freshwater class can do it a bit quicker if needed, but apparently that chews too much fuel. The Freshwater class and the Collaroy (which is slightly different if you know what to look for) were built to do the trip in no more than half an hour, in all weather. It used to take a heck of a lot before they would be stopped, and then that was usually only if tieing up at Manly was a problem. I've seen two ropes snap one after the other, on Freshwater! 😲🤯

Hi Ben, this is the best experience of crossing the heads. Head out, turn and ride the waves back in. Sail straight across the heads and you can capsize and kiss your arse goodbye. Was that Matthew who got drenched fully clothed?

Yep I think that was Mathew up the front hah hah! Poor blokes phone got damaged that day.

There seems to be a certain cheery recklessness in the speed these ferries are pushed through the swell. Is this true?

Great footage!!! Are you the owner of this footage? Is it possible for me to use and upload this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, inland barge ships, navy, etc. Of course full credit and a link to your KZfaq page will be given when I upload. If you want to talk this through via e-mail, that's also possible. My email is on my youtube page. I'm looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Thanks!
