MY BEST TIPS FOR DRYING YOUR WAVY/CURLY/COILY HAIR . Those of us with thick, long, &/ textured hair can go 6-56 hours waiting for their hair to air dry naturally. (which isn’t ideal for the hair or scalp) so the alternative is to: #HoverDiffuse - a way to dry without compromise 🙌🏼
the scrunching step can be completely omitted. Do what feels right for you and if you embrace shrinkage, go for it but try to hit those roots first, and leave your ends till the end!
In my professional opinion, this is the best way to effectively dry the hair and prevent damage from air drying on your strands, and your scalp. That’s also according to the facts, because we like to learn things like that 🤓

It’s so time consuming 😫 but you can tell it is way less damaging than straight up heat from blow dryer with no barrier. The diffuser kind of minimizes the damage.

My wavy hair takes SOO long to dry that sometimes my routine includes air drying for 2 hours, a quickish 20 minute blow dry (I hate blow drying), & then 2 more hours of air dry before scrunching 🤦🏻‍♀️ if I don’t do the blow dry it’ll take at least 6 hours to air dry at home.

You'll get it! Don"t give up! By the way, I use a tiny bit of Aveda ballm and squish it into the palms of your hands and squish it into all of your hair, not all in one place Do not over apply! Do not rub!! Use a tiny little-finger amount of balm and squish it into your palms. Squish the hair, one spot at a time, but not only on the top of your hair. Do not drag it--but remember not too much! Use the PALM of your hands. Do not drag .curly hair! Forgive yourself if you make a mistake. You will master all of thi s. Don't

I also have wavy hair. I got the perfect hair care towel and I can’t even explain. I’ve never had anything cut down my dry time like that. It soaks up SO MUCH water. I would definitely give that a try, maybe diffuse to get a semi solid cast and then air dry the rest of the way!
@jazzyscott
@jazzyscott Жыл бұрын
@@truffles2021 I agree, I’m someone who needs soaking wet hair when applying hair product but then of course the dry time is FOREVER so I use a cotton t shirt or microfiber towel to scrunch out as much water. Then I blow dry and it decreases the dry time.

Can you please post how you part your hair and what haircut to get? I’m really struggling. I have very flat roots but I have very long hair that goes all the way down my back. It gets curlier the farther down it goes. I know layers help but I don’t know what to ask for. Could you give some tips on what styling brushes to use? I normally shampoo and condition. Then go in with a nym curl talk leave in conditioner, nym curl talk defining cream, nym curl talk frizz control gel, nym curl talk moose, and then I diffuse and scrunch out the crunch. I have problems with making the roots and the underneath part of my hair defined. The underneath is always tangled. I also have absolutely no idea what to do to refresh my hair. It always ends up looking like a mess. I need help finding a way to refresh my curls and make them last. My hair looks very oily only on day 2 hair! I live in a very very humid area and I am very limited with hair tools and products. But I am willing to try something new! I know these are a lot of questions but it you could help me I would really appreciate it!!!

I have the same problem when going for a Curly (because all my life I had straight hair and then by Spring of 2019 my hair was completely curly so I started watching tutorial videos on KZfaq, but they never say when they go to the Salon what they asked for?) haircut and before I go I let my hair grow past my shoulders and like you said my hair is curlier at the bottom. I look at Pinterest and show them the color Highlights with their natural Brown color in between the Highlights. I said I want a Half Crown just like the picture. However, I don’t ever get those color Highlights I want except for one time when I got a double process, and it was by my Hairstylist in NYC and it was Beautiful. Then last October I told my Hairstylist in NYC that has known me for years and knows my color and how I like my Highlights in sections to give it depth to do a partial meaning having my natural medium brown and in between take strips of hair for the Highlights to give my hair definition but instead I got a full crown that I looked like a Sunshine, brighter than a Lemon with Sparkles in my hair that the color was blinding to anyone's eyes, and I know that was the wrong Highlights Color or something cause I had also asked for the first time to put something to take my greys away and wondering if that's what made my hair even brighter with the Highlights??? but luckily one of the Hairstylist saw I was upset and asked me what's wrong so I told her and she said to go back to my Hairstylist and ask her to Tone it down, but when she toned it down it wasn't the natural color of my hair which is usually more golden and after she was done didn't look like I had Highlights and it looked dull. Also, she went trigger happy with cutting my hair soo short after waiting soo long to grow my hair out I was very upset and Spending $300+ Also, I moved to Florida and had grown out my hair very long again and showed her the same color golden Highlights and and told her that I wanted my hair just an inch away from my shoulders, with layers, I showed her a picture with long layers and asked for the covering of the grey, well again this time my Highlights looked Brunette, she literally chopped my hair off that the sides were at my earlobes and it was very very short layers. My Curls were gone completely cause now it was a choppy haircut WTF??? $300 again, and there was no way to refresh it the next morning. I use Strictly Curls by Marc Anthony, the Shampoo Conditioner and Curl Cream, plus the Moroccan Spray Oil Conditioner. I have very fine hair that I don't need a wide tooth Comb when I wash my hair and it's wet. First day I just use a regular towel (cause I keep forgetting to buy a Microfiber Hair Towel) dry myself off take off the towel apply the Curl Cream turn my head upside down and take my fingers and rake it through my hair than I take my regular Comb and Comb it through than put my head upside down and gently crunch it, then turn my head right side up and then use the Detangler wide tooth Comb and gently fluff up the outer strands of hair, not the roots and barely touching the ends and shaking my head gently side to side, and then I brush my teeth, moisturize my face and put my foundation on then I Diffuse my hair with my head at first upside down and sideways, then upside right on a medium setting ( I don't have Dyson, I have Revlon) for blowing and hot setting for drying. Now unlike Mel I have to take sections of my hair gently into a ball and hold the diffuser till it's 80 to 90% dry depending on whether the air is dry or humid cause otherwise it gets frizzy cause I have Bald Spots from my Lupus that are scarred from having Lupus Lesions on my scalp, yeah fun, but if it's cut right you can't see them. I also part it on my right side with the fine tooth Comb, or if you have thick hair get the Comb that has a metal handle that's used for teasing straight hair but can also be used for making hairlines when sectioning your hair. Then after I Diffuse I spray the Moroccan Conditioner and add a touch of hairspray to the back of my crown where my big Bald Spot is. When I go to sleep I usually sleep on my side and I push my hair out of the way and up on the pillow the same when I'm on my back I take my hair and push it up from being crunched. The next morning I use the Water Bottle Spray mister and get my hair wet, then I take the Curl cream and add water to my hands and gently rake it through with my fingers, take the Detangler Comb and turn my head upside down and put my fingers through to my crown and gently shake it for a couple of seconds then lift my head up fast and leave it to dry and I can either fluff it with the Wide Detangler Comb having my head upside down doing it so ever gently, then putting my fingers through to my scalp and slightly shake it then lift my head up, shake my head gently side to side, add the Moroccan Conditioner Spray and Voila it's done but like I said it all depends on weather or because of the Bald Spot there won't be any curl so I have to spray that stupid section again and dry it with the diffuser. Now here's the thing I miss the most when I was living in NYC when winter time came I was able to get a straight haircut style and use Ion products and blow dry my hair with my Boars Round Brushes and I would have straight hair, now that I moved down to Florida I noticed that the Winter here has no dryness in the air, however my hair was getting harder to Curl at the top but the bottom of my hair is always very curly, so my hair was on the limpy curly side, and I was thinking of cutting short, having pixie style but I knew I would regret it cause there were a lot of days it was Humid out LOL 😆 Well I am trying to find another place here in Florida that specializes in Curly Hair cause now my hair is grown out and it's frizzing a lot cause of the dead ends and dryness from the pool, I'm trying to wait till the end of August before I go back to NYC but it looks gross and it's looking puffy like a clown the next day 😂 I'll have to check out your products, but first I want to try Aveda products and the other products that Mell uses lately. I hoped I helped somewhat and I hope Mell reads our comments 🙏 cause I'm still at a loss especially when going to the Salon and coming out upset cause I don't know if I explained it wrong or they're just stupid??? Have a Good Sleep 😴 Andrea ❤️

@@angeladpsp1 Oh my gosh thank you so much. I also live in Florida and your hair sounds a lot like mine. I’ve been thinking about applying my products upside down but I haven’t tried it yet. But now I’m going to try it next time I wash my hair. My hair often looks like a cloud with how frizzy it is. 😂 I use a few of your techniques that you mentioned here and I also use a revlon! I don’t use the diffuser that came with it because it broke though. Sometimes I try to leave the cast in my hair to fight frizz and it works….but it leaves my hair looking crispy and wet. It seems really hard to find the crisp and soft balance in long curly hair. I tried root clipping and it didn’t really work for me. I’m going to try to use a few new hair techniques and I’ll let you know how they work for me! It seems like we have similar issues. I also hope Mell reads this because I need major help. 😂 Thank you so much for your comment I read every word and related to it deeply. If I find anything that helps I will tell you asap!

Never drag your HAIR. PRESS it, one small section at a time; never drag it!. The instructions before mine are superb, by the way!. If you can, print them out or copy them! They are pefect! Use them! Print them! You will learn every step but never rush. Practice makes perfect. You will LOVE your hair but no rushing. Condition but don't over-do it; use gel but comb it. All of this you will learn. Copy them. Read the first instructions. They are excellent. You WILL get better and better.💟
