The trick with Sungolds is to harvest them as they are barely turning yellow. I have a little ritual of going out in my PJ's with my coffee and harvesting them every morning as they start turning. Let them finish ripening inside on the counter. They won't split and will be delicious! Plus you'll have a little bowl of candy like snacks always available.

I was told to prevent splitting you can just pick the tomato as soon as you can tell it starts turning. After that it will ripen off the vine and leaving it on the vine allows it to absorb more water and explode. I wasn't able to garden this year because we moved 900 miles and I had to give up all my gardening stuff but I grew tomatoes and cherry tomatoes for several years and always just picked as they turned and let them ripen indoors, especially the lil' ones. No exploding issues.

567 total harvest. Also you need to fry the shishitos and top with some really coarse sea salt. Great appetizer/snack.

You should try finding at least 10 native edible plants in your state and grow em and let people know how they tast to help reduce california demands on water when people scream at farms where's the cactus 😂. But seriously can you give this a try please 🙏 😇.

The trick to getting the sun gold's to not split taking them off the vine... Is harvest them a bit earlier and not when fully ripe. I've had the same issues.

I mean i just take the split ones and cook them… waste not want not. Maybe try bagging the youngers on a strand in paper so they all ripen at the same time?

I love all the variety of tomatoes. My favorite is the sun gold. I'm guessing 198 for tomatoes and total harvest is 423.

I’ve been growing Sun Sugar tomatoes for the last couple of years. The taste is supposed to be very similar to Sun Gold and I haven’t had any trouble with splitting.

Wow! You did it...all your hard work came to fruition in this epic harvest! My guess is 260 tomatoes...total harvest 594. This was such a fun harvesting video. Thank you for letting us come along for it. I learn so much from you both! I thank you and my garden thanks you! Enjoy your harvest! :)

I had a bunch of brandy wines splitting as they ripened so I cut them off and made fried green tomatoes. If I’d had some onions growing I’d have topped them with a homemade pico de gallo made from the ripe ones: you could fry a whole green sungold If you didn’t want to wait for them to ripen.

I left Japanese eggplant over winter in my garden in Oceanside and the next year harvest was INCREDIBLE. 10 times more, than the first year. The plant grew BIG.

I saw the sun gold tomato on another channel that loved them. I tried them and although the taste was good I had the same problem, they were all cracking when I took them off. I guess it is a characteristic of that type. Love your shoshitos. I just bought the seeds to try in my garden in the spring. My guess on your harvest is 528. Beautiful harvest!

My guess is 528 total ! This channel has inspired me to garden , I would love a raised bed garden to show my 1 year old the whole process of starting with just seed , and ending up with a bounty ! It’s such an exciting process, for adults and children!

I too get cracked Sungolds. Now I pick them when yellow before watering. They take two or three days to ripen in my kitchen.

Zucchini or any summer squash - grate it and make zucchini muffins (from your fave zucchini bread recipe) freeze and eat all winter for breakfasts. I use applesauce to sub for 1/2 the oil. Yummmy!

What a haul...so fun, so much work. total harvest 525. I've made a few batches of cowboy candy this summer. I tried Jacques recipe for roasted Shishitos...and I had soooooo many cherry and grape tomatoes this year. I decided not to grow the larger varieties this year because the rodents nibbled at more of my tomatoes last year than I did.

My guess is 153 tomatoes, and I wasn't sure if we were guessing the rest of the produce as well? I'll stick with just the 'maters. Always a pleasure to see both of you working through a hoopla in the garden! I gave some produce (Chinese noodle beans, Armenian Cucumber, Kellogg's Breakfast tomato, various other 'maters) to my doctor this afternoon and he was so excited! It's great fun to give it away to someone who loves real food.

I guess 121 tomatoes and 351 total. Those tomatoes look so good! All mine got frozen and I had to replant and then they were too late to get a good harvest before the Texas heat set in.
