Breastfeeding was horrible all 3 times I tried… I was depressed until I stopped. No one ever talks about that part. The minute I stopped breastfeeding and I started to sleep my depression went away. This happened with all 3 of my children. Congratulations on your beautiful baby❤️

Such a sweet video keep the full story to share when its your daughters turn to be a mother. 3 out of my 4 was all natural and I wouldn't have it any other way. so much faster. I now have 12 grandkids and my youngest went all natural and said she's done.

Due dates are estimates. I wish women would understand this. 42 weeks is still a NORMAL due date. Rushing the natural process can end up hurting mom and baby.

I wish I had given up breastfeeding sooner. I really hated it and I had trouble bonding with my baby because of it. I finally started formula after 3 months, and it was incredible. I also had a great pediatrician who told me on my first newborn appointment that his kids were all 100% bottle fed and not to worry about it if I needed to switch. Fed is best!

This !!!!! This needs to be talked about more. Breastfeeding is NOT for everyone (definitely not for me) and for so many other moms out there. The pressure that “breast is best” is so intense! I’m so happy that you did what you needed for your happiness and the happiness of your baby ♥️♥️

Same thing happened with my firstborn. Breastfeeding was not for me, then I tried pumping, but it was exhausting trying to keep up with it, spending time with my son and working from home as well. It was very overwhelming, I was constantly stressed about it. At 3ish or so months I also started formula and it was another story, I was a happy mama again! I’m about to have my second baby in 3 days, and honestly I’m already bothered by the breastfeeding subject 😩

Congratulations and what a beautiful story and little blessing. I gave birth 4 times naturally and I never wanted an epidural because my doctor told me it could slow down the birthing process. I was able to go back to my room, take a shower and put my own nice comfy clothes on. It definitely hurts and you definitely feel everything but I feel it was worth the pain. Merry Christmas ❤️

Our stories are so similar!! My first son was named Landon Carter too and I had an epidural. My second born Jan 8, I needed to be induced due to pre-eclampsia symptoms and that made things progress so fast that I didn't have time for the epidural and yup 4 pushes later and my Finn was out 😍 and my recovery naturally vs with epidural was sooo.much easier, I didn't tear at all. it's so cool to be able to experience it both! Now my son is almost 1. Congrats Allie!!! ❤️ Ellie is precious ❤️

Thanks for sharing your story, Allie! You’re amazing ❤️ Something similar happened to me with my second baby. I had an unplanned emergency c-section with my first daughter, so the plan for my second daughter’s birth was scheduled c-section. Long story short, though, my labour progressed way too quickly and I wasn’t able to get a c-section or even an epidural, so it ended up being an unmedicated VBAC. It was AWFUL and so so hard, but I got through it! It’s amazing what our bodies can do - I’m super proud of myself, and you should be proud of yourself too! 💕

Your story is so similar to mine! I had my 3rd baby boy 11/2 at 2am. He was 8.5 and was born within 45 mins of making it to the hospital. I was in SOOO much pain when we got there. They rushed me to the emergency area to check in and be checked. I couldn’t even focus to sign in and everything it was all scribbles. So they hooked me up and checked me and I was a 7. They took my blood and told me they needed to get me upstairs to L&D. I got up there and they checked me again and I was a 10. They said I couldn’t get the epidural and I cried and cried! I thought I was gonna die! I told the ER dr over and over that I was gonna die! He was a blessing though, he coached me through it all and my baby was born safe and fast! He did end up having to cut me and I still had a 3rd degree tear but my recovery was still so much better than the other 2. I wouldn’t change a thing!!

Congratulations. What a crazy labor story. I'm so glad you're happy with it despite the pain in the moment. I'm planning to combo feed baby #2 and I'm so nervous about talking to the lactation consultants. My doctor was super supportive. I gave her a brief description of my breastfeeding issues with my son and she said, "You were so relieved when you started formula, right?". "OH yes. I'm planning to combo feed from the beginning this time." "That's wonderful. That works well for many women." So I'm not worried about doctors or nurses, but the lactation consultants....I'm so glad it was in your file and they didn't bother you. That was encouraging. I'm going to ask my doctor to put that I will be both breast and formula feeding my baby in my chart to maybe prevent some of the formula shaming (I got formula shamed in the hospital with my son).

I love your story 100%. Finding out at birth is wonderful. Back in my day they only gave pain meds for the last 15 mins of birth. My third was no time for meds. I was pushing when I got to the hospital. The doctor was washing his hands and saying, “pant, pant”. My water broke as I was pushing when I got the go ahead to push. I kept thinking geez, I would have chosen this had I know how “easy” it was.

Congratulations! You guys are beautiful and I'm so glad it went well and you're all safe and well! This story was really relatable - "give me an epidural" was the main point in my birth plan too, but my midwives definitely weren't sweet and calming once they realised I was 10cm and didn't have one because it happened too quickly, they PANICKED and the run to get me from the triage in the ward where they'd left me to get to the birth suite was CRAZY and I got told not to have a baby in the elevator too lmao. I still ended up pushing for nearly 2 hours though, so I think it may be a first time vs second-time baby thing for pushing to go that quickly! I stayed in the hospital for 5 days, but I gave birth 5 years ago - right now there are people giving birth where I live who are giving birth naturally with no epidural and being sent home after 6 hours, you're very much pushed out, even if you're a first-time parent which is absolutely terrifying to think about!
@coralharvey7957

I think the trend sending girls home too early is very concerning. I think it's scary to know that even C section patients are discharged day or two after birth . With my first baby even after a high forceps delivery Christmas eve I was encouraged to stay the full week. I realise it's due to staffing pressures bed shortage etc. But women are having a higher proportion of c section theses days and it's important that they are receiving good quality nursing and adequate rest after major surgery.

Congratulations! Fed is best, some people can't produce or when they do produce its not enough, strictly breast feeding is an incredible commitment that may not be best for mama and her mental health. I had a friend who couldn't produce. She breast fed for 6 months and supplemented with formula and donated breast milk. Another friend gave birth right before you and decided to strictly breastfeed and just said her nipples were incredibly sore. If you are giving your baby nourishment. Whether it be from the breast or a bottle with formula as long as you are feeding your baby you shouldn't be judged or mom shamed. You are doing what is best for you and for your baby in either situation. So rock on mama!

Congrats on your 2nd baby!! I did see your IG announcement and was so happy to see you had a healthy delivery. Ack to no epidural though! I went in with my second baby asking what my options were too after they told me he would be arriving a little late and we were able to make an appointment. I didn't know you could make an appt if you were not doing a C-section so that was great news to me, and it made the annoying check in hospital process smoother because I wasn't in pain (so I totally get what you were complaining about there. I also want hospitals to streamline that!). About 45 minutes after I checked in I was able to get Pitocin and an epidural and smooth sailing from there! In my hospital the triage part happened with my husband in the room (they do ask if that is ok with me first) so it is also interesting to hear how different hospitals handle that. Also so cool to hear about the numerology!! It was definitely fate! So happy for your family. Enjoy these precious weeks and congrats again!!

Bottle vs Breast: when you breast feed, you tend to have more face time with the baby naturally. With the bottle one tends to not make as much face time. Back in the 70s when I had my first one, the push was to breast feed, but not everyone did. If bottle feeding, we were told to always hold the baby while feeding. I guess too many would prop a bottle up, and walk away to do chores. Not until the baby could hold their own bottle should you not feed them. I did breast feed all 3 of mine for about 6 mos. They all seemed to prefer the bottle by then. I missed holding them, so until they drank from a cup, I held them while they ate (drank). Also, all 3 of mine had jaundice after birth, so my hospital stays were 3 days which gave them enough time to be under the Bili lights. Congrats to you and your family on Ellie's arrival.

Epidurals are also dangerous. They can cuase major back issues later, including nerve damage. They can also effect the baby, stop contractions and progress, and effect blood pressure.

When they sweep your membranes they don’t ‘scrape’ anything. They use their finger if your cervix is open enough to just separate your membranes from the area around your cervix. I had this done twice with my first, once at 40 weeks and once a week later when I was in labour to speed it up.

My 2 sisters were each in labor for over 24 hours with each of their children (total of 5 between them). They had the epidurals etc... So when my water broke I was taken to the hospital where everyone thought the baby would be born the next day. Due to allergies I could not have any meds. My daughter was born in 1/2 hour. When they told me to push I told them that they didn't have to tell me twice. All I felt was my back hurting (had back labor) and I couldn't wait to get her out so the pain would stop.

Congrats!! I’ve been looking forward to this video!! I know you don’t put her on social media and it is probably hard to tell, but does she look more like you or your husband? Just curious, and you probably can’t tell yet, so it’s fine if you can’t answer

I just had my 2nd baby. 1st water broke and I got pitcoin, she came 11.5 hours later with epidural. 2nd I was induced to due high BP, I got an epidural but it failed so I had no pain management and she came in 2 pushes. It was wild!!!

baby number one is ALWAYS going to take longer to push out, epidural or not. you have to remember that it’s your body’s first time going through pregnancy and labor and delivery. think of how it’s a lot easier to stretch a rubber band the second or third time compared to the first time. if you didn’t have the epidural with Landon, it might have made a small difference but nothing major :)

When you choose to formula feed from the start what do you do about colostrum? I mean, do you try to get them that by breastfeeding or with a pump or do you go right to a supplemental colostrum? Just curious...
