100% agree with you. I have a mechanic whose shop is right around the corner and he is awesome. I’m constantly telling him to charge me what he needs to for his time. I’m not there for a deal, I appreciate his expertise, and I absolutely want him to be able to stay in business and take care of his family.

Sounds pretty good Jax. I used ta work 2nd shift at a big freight carrier and a truck went down with injector issues, day shift replaced them and when I went in they said all you have to do is put on the value cover and button it up with a test drive well we didn't get out of the yard it blew every injector out filled the pan with fuel because someone didn't torque the injectors and I get wrote up for it . Jax you might want to carry a bottle of isuprophen alcohol to put in your air lines when ya freeze up it also works as a fuel additive to keep from gelling up. I can remember one of my policies ,was to never telegraph the job payment ( the amount of money I charged as a Service provider) to my helpers, Because "they" may harbor hurt feelings thinking their portion should be greater than what they received in their pay check.. Another policy was to(SOMETIMES) pay my helpers at the end of the day. It's the small things that can make life better for everyone involved.

What an AMAZING description of how a mechanic acts when you ask them to do something! Total burden. I’m going to tell people that one! I work in the Equipment rental industry and I’ve met so many mechanics like that. Some like Somk’n Joe but not many. Close enough to Buffalo, about 1.5 hours North, in Canada. Will you rebuild your old air dryer at some point, to keep as an emergency spare? Also, do you plan on filling in for JRM again this year? Great lesson at the end of the video. One thing is, I would hope your “friend” mechanic would just sell you the parts at cost and the labour is shop rate. Even in an emergency, I would tip him at the end. Just my thought on that.

I been an auto mechanic for 30 years and just a few of mi people have that way of thinking. All the other are just a money símbol .

Good luck with injectors. We just dropped the number 5 injector and we put a 6 pack in back the first week of October. Reman parts are just not worth a crap unfortunately

I had a friendship desolve because of a paint job . I told him here is the material cost and you pay me what's it's worth to ya. I would have charged around 200$ labor for this job and he paid me 0$ and had to hound him just to pay the material bill. washed my hands of him.
