블루제이들 본 게 엊그제 같은데 벌써 햇수로 3년째라니... 항상 영상 볼때마다 느끼는 거지만... 이런 게 인생이고 삶이 아닐까 그런 생각이 듭니다. 눈이 녹았던 자리에 다시 눈이 내리고, 집 앞에서 보던 새가 새끼를 낳아 함께 날아오고... 그렇게 매일 똑같거나 달라지는 사소한 것들에 기뻐하고 감동하는 것 외에 삶에 또 뭐가 필요있을까 싶습니다.

I've always had a soft spot for Blue Jays. When my dad was alive he fed them on his back porch everyday.. They became so tame that they would visit when he was sitting at the table where he put their peanuts. Fly high, Grampy.

I was completely devastated when Jay and Joe lost their two babies, and it seemed that they had never recovered from it. I've thought about the incident EVERY DAY, and my heart is melting right now, filled with pure joy for these birds. Baby looks like a pre-teen. First time here, your Blue Jay friends are gorgeous. And friendly. Looks like they nested close to you because they feel safe and protected. Not to mention complimentary all-you-can-eat buffet which becomes a neighborhood block party

I love how aware of us they are through our windows while we're inside our homes. I have 2 crows that can see me in two different places in my house. They'll sit on the edge of a gutter or roofline and peer in the window to get my attention. They are rather good at training us to supply their needs. One day the two who lived in my small territory of there's brought their 3 babies frantically trying to get them fed within the small boundaries of their habitat. There just isn't enough food here even though I was supplementing them several times per day. Eventually the father took two of them, left the mom and one baby here, and flew away to a more plentiful place. They have come back once that I know of for a visit. But I'm also pretty sure the oldest male has now past away. He visited me one last time and I felt that is what he was telling me. Giving me also a message of a thank you for feeding his family.

when I was young I use to feed a bluejay food. I was sitting at the picnic table outdoors and my bluejay friend came to visit and was watching me eat the melon. I offered it a piece but it wanted to drink the juice and I held it up and squeezed the melon and the jay drank the juice. I wish I had a photo of that. That young jay trusted me enough to eat from my hand.

oh my god this is freaking adorable! You can tell those bluejays absolutely love and trust you. Normally, if you got anywhere near their kids, they would attack you with anxious ferocity to defend them, but here, they've actually brought a kid to come see you. (keep in mind, attack radius is something like 50 to 70 feet, I've seen them divebomb cats that got too close).

This little family has stayed, because you've given them an offer they can't refuse -- the best food! 😇

Folks that feed birds can forget how important fresh water during frozen days--large bodies of water difficult to access or not present. The largest problems for us urban dwellers are squirrels taking most the seed unless investing in squirrel proof feeder and seed variety to include small birds. Urban gardeners often tend to over-mulch and use chemicals leaving few if any insects for birds that need the soft bodied grubs, worms, and other to feed hatchlings which cannot eat seed.

ㅎㅎㅎ 귀여운 새 친구들이 많이 와서 심심하지 않은 겨울입니다. 한 때 제이&죠 부부가 새끼 잃고 아파했는데 잘 딛고 일어나서 다시금 사랑스러운 새끼와 함께 와서 보금자리를 마련하고 추추님 사랑을 듬뿍 받으니 기쁘네요😊 또 다른 새들까지 먹이 구하기 힘든 겨울에 추추님 가정에 와서 먹이를 먹으며 겨울을 나니 행복해 보입니다. 저 새들이 나중에 추추님 지붕에 박씨를 물어다놓고 복이 가득한 박 열매들이 추추님 지붕에 가득한 게 아닐지 상상해봅니다 ㅎㅎ
