this is a update of some mods since last video, beyern mesh wheels 18by 9.5 rear and 18 by 8.5 in front. I threw on 12mm spacers on the back and 8mm spacers up front, tire's are 225/40/18 rear and 215/40/18 front. i rolled the rear fenders and a slight adjustment to the coilovers all around,

Freddydawg I need help I always wanted a tuner like power to weight ratio honda, as I aged I wanted more and different from others. Should I get a e36? Previously wanted a e30 with m20 turbo pushing 400 horses but shortly fell in love with the e36. First thing I would like to do is go stock turbo maybe a precision 5252 or maybe a gt28, I want about 420 wheel for a while until I can stroke and build it for bout 550 600 wheel......can e36 reduce weight to about 2500 pounds without driver? I live in Utah, and I stumbled across the e36 which Noone races out here nd figured it's like the next 240sx........240s have lots of sales tax, aka drift tax as the e30 can sometimes be found more expensive than a e36 so I figured this is a underrated car.......should I get one and stay dedicated with the stock turbo route? And maybe a 3.73 diff?? I heard that's good but once I go big turbo I should look into a longer gear ratio?. Sorry I'm lost haha pretty much I want to purchase my next car which won't be automatic! And make it my tuner to be my daily driver to commute and race here and there out in the industrial area which we race at....

LOVE IT DUDE!!! You have really tastefully modified this E36. I have a 4 door E36, and just did an engine swap.....It was a 318i, now it is a complete BEAST! I put in a rebuilt S54 M3 Engine with VF570 supercharger, suspension, brakes, e36 M3 drivetrain. Bimmerworld here in Virginia did the work. Got 537 HP at the wheels on their Dyno. My car looks a lot like yours..it's red but has 4 doors. CHEERS!!!

Thanks alot, but lots has changed since this video. Car still has the same burly engine mods, upgraded KW suspension, brakes and bushings ect but i've removed all M cosmetics and brought it back to a stock looking 325is and now use it primarily as my winter driver while my e46 ///M is in storage. Kind of a sleeper now except the loud camy idle may still give it away a bit lol

Thanks, and i'm always open to others ideas and opinions. I have three extra steering wheels in my shop at home to choose from and i just feel like rocking this one for now, the back bump i kinda like the way it is with the usual black bit painted red, to me it looks cleaner and more monochromatic than the M/// style black defuser. car was bought with cheesy ebay crystal clear tails that had to go, so i just threw on a stock set for now i had layin around.

the average cost depends on what u want done to the head. VAC motorsports has packages including maped&bluprinted valves, new retainers, seals and springs a port&polish and resurface to your head all witch is tested on there flow bench starting around $1,000 without cams. Having a local machine shop do the p&p and do the rest yourself would be cheaper, but i like the work VAC did for me and all i had to do to was plop the new head in, add cams and injectors myself, tune and enjoy 50 more HP.

Actually pretty nice and surprised to see the car stands out better than the crap lo res camera its shot on lol. I've only had the engine back together with the VAC upgrades recently, and still have to fine tune on dyno. Couple still pics of drifting/burnout on my other vid, new vid is coming together.

Yes i agree 189hp or probably less depending how many original miles are on it, is not enough and you end up finding the limits fairly quickly. You can chip/reprogram ecu and do headers for mild gains at reasonable cost or do the full N/A setup like mine (P&P head work, 6mm valve stem, big cams, bigger injectors and custom ecu tune) and hope to gain 60hp. or choose forced air(turbo/supercharger), either way anything that will achieve real gains to this motor will cost a couple thousand minimum.

BMW E36 in Romania is called cat.Apparently, the name comes from the first service dedicated to BMW in Bucharest. That was in 1995, and for the first time this model was introduced to nick once a woman who left her car serviced came home with a cat in the trunk. He was the owner of the service kitten, a stray orange. She returned the cat crept into the trunk of the service, and then, when drivers see a E36 said: There comes a cat! And the e30 is called Bear but I forgot why xD.

I ordered wheels first, then i took the little metal rod with the grey plastic end on it that helps line up the holes in wheel with holes in hub(its in the tool container on the trunk lid on all bmw's) then i put washers between the wheel and hub on that rod untill it was where i thought i would like the wheel to be, then i just took the stack of washers off the rod and measured them. e36 have high offset wheels so adding spacers while lowered will need fenders rolled, especially with 9.5"s

Head lights on to show fresh install of hid's for vid at the time thats all, other than that sometimes i run them in the day, sometimes i don't. Best bang for the buck for these cars is the jim conforti ECU chip from turner motorsports for cars up to 95 or 96. From there till 99 you reprogram the ECU with a simple shark programer.

In my mind, if you're going to do all that work you should find a wrecked M3 and swap that motor and drivetrane in and then you'll have something really cool, especially if you keep the 318 badge on the car. good luck with what ever you decide to do, and thanks for the comment

the bumper in this vid is the one i got rid of, i have a new vid of the freshly painted one up now. Luckily i have awesome friends in the business and it cost me nothing to have it painted, and the install i just did myself (super easy to do). But if you went to a decent shop it'd cost anywhere from 200 to 400 bucks for the paintwork.

@panchitop619 spacers are just round pieces of billet aluminium to fit between the wheel and your hub(disk brake) to give a wider stance. 12mm spacers on back mean rolling fenders and stretching the tires a bit(225,s on 9.5inch rim), 8mm a must in the front to to keep inside of wheel from contacting the coilover,s.

You will not achieve this height or look without first installing coilover type shocks and springs, these springs sit on an adjustable pearch on the shock body that you can turn with a special wrench to move the cars height up or down. Lowering springs are way different, they are just shorter springs that sit on the stock struts and even a 2 inch drop lowering spring itself won't give you the look of my car. i also have staggered wheels, spacers, stretched tires and rolled fenders. lots of work.
@SKUSANWOLEK

@bmwgroetken i cant remember the exact number and i think the fronts are diff than the back, somewhere between 35 and 43 i think. the backs were actually rubbing on the inside wheel well because of the high offsett, but nothing a set of spacers and a fender roller didn't fix. if you run coilovers the fronts will contact the springs so a 8mm spacer at least will need to be used with these wheels

Without a proper heat shield or shroud a intake like this doesn't take it much cooler air that the stock set up, it may take it a bit more air but in my opinion it's more of a pian in the ass cleaning and oiling these type of filters than it's actually worth. It has since been removed and stock airbox reinstalled. thanks

Yeah i never thought i needed the rear ///M bumper either, just painted the bottom bit red instead. Don't cheap out on shocks/springs and i would change the front control arm bushings and the rear trailing arm bushings and replace with poly. The bushings you will notice them more than the stiffer sway bars as most time those rubber bushings are toast anyways while the stock sway would still be good. The right suspension and bushings and it will feel better than a new car. Handles better than my M3

I run spacers front and back already, but with 18x9.5's and the car this low i can only get away with 12mm in rear and 8mm in front just to clearance the coilovers. drop down a wheel size or two and i can have more poke. It's a bonus the fenders are already rolled as much as possible already. thanks

@randomNpointless the 325i is a very reliable car, just look up some info on maintenance and other issues for these cars, lots of info available as these cars have been around for awhile. The e36 m3 is also a great car and reliable but the parts are sometimes double the cost of the 325i, and the m3's s series engines were not really meant for real high milage, they are performance engineered to be fast and light weight, so try to find one with less than 80'000 km's

like jonah805 said not much other that those few things, a good 325I or IS is one of the best older cars to get, you start with pretty a much 200HP RWD car that suffers very little mech probs plus if you need, parts are everywhere, new and used. I still have a 94 318i with 320,00 km's and i've only had to replace the alternator, clutch fuel pump and a pair of shocks since purchased at under 100,000kms.

@SKUSANWOLEK The exact same thing happend in SA. e36 was built from 06/92 but just before that they produced a very limited amount of completely aluminium body e30 325is. The reason for this was because the opel kadett superboss was kicking the evo1 ass at racing events and so they produced a faster version. You would not have the 2.7 if the e30 m3 was produced in your country. The e30 m3 never made it to our shores. all the m3s we have in the e30 are imported from north america:-(

The vanos only adds a few more lbs of torque the HP stays preaty much the same, I've driven both and its barley noticeable beetween the two. if anything id only go for the later vanos motors as I've heard early versions are problematic. Good thing about vanos motors is M3 cams are compatible and are an easy way to gain HP. The cams i got for this car are hard to find and expensive, thats why i went all out and did the full p&p/valve stem conversion on the head. In for an ounce in for a pound.

@SirYakToast i got the wheels from bavarian autosport (bav auto) they are beyern mesh in silver made by tsw wheels. the inside of the front wheels hit the coilovers with out spacers(8mm at least) and i added 12mm on the back just to poke it out a bit. the performance of the coils depends on the cond of the motor and if you have the right ecu chip, also run the oem bosh copper plugs. I've noticed engine running better and a bit more throttle response feels a bit more torque too.

If it's a e36 coupe it's simply an IS, i don't think it made a big difference in the engine but only IS's came with a optional rear LSD. It wasn't in all IS's like the with the e30 but only in a limited number of winter package e36 325is's. I also now own a 05 M3 and have since removed all the M trim and bumper on the e36 and looks like a normal 325 again.

They're a fairly popular wheel and shouldn't be to hard to track down a set, i like them cause they're made to fit bmw's and are hubcentric 5x120 with proper offset. Not the lightest wheels out there but no heavier than stock bmw alloys. Angel eyes are reg ccfl i think, not gonna be on the car for much longer i think they look a bit tacky, imo.

That intake came with the car from the previous owner. It's now were it belongs, off my car and in the garbage.

The rocker panels(side bars) on the M3 are actually no different than on the 325i or any other E36, all M3's just come with molded twist style rocker covers as part of the factory M// body package. Just find some oem replacement M3 side skirts like mine, and bolt them in place. Be aware of cheap imitations as they have poor fitment, expect to pay around $400 for good quality ones, unpainted. but always get the plastic retainer clips and rubber strip need for install from BMW,toss the aftermarkets

@superagent44 Soon as you disconnect the wheel or remove the front seats the SRS dash light will turn on and the only way to turn it off is using the SRS reset tool witch works on 95 or later models(obd2). You can buy one from peake research or just have your mechanic do it, witch ever is cheaper. My 92(obd1)is a little harder to reset but this was done before i got the car so i'm guessing the light was just disconnected when my wheel and M3 gauges were installed.

thanks, the color is actually brilliantrot, hellrot is what the m3's came with i think. As for what was spent on the car, i'll just say the car was cheap compared to what i've spent on it since i got it :P I really like the e46 also, hopefully that will be my next project

This car was never an automatic, the car was simply put in neutral with the e-brake on when i started it.

Well if your just talking suspension i would upgrade all for corners to gas shocks with H&R sport or race springs or like mine some good quality coilovers instead of just the fronts, unless your just replacing worn front shocks with new stock oem ones. If you need front end parts then start with some polyurethane control arm bushings, new sway bar end links, tie rod ends and depending on your situation maybe control arms with new inner and outer ball joints.

@StereoSoundAgent For the most part i wouldn't put anything but OEM bmw parts on the body of the car,the fiberglass M style bumper is coming off and will be added to the pile of other cheap addons i've already removed from this car. I have a real oem M3 bumper sittin here plus i still have the original one that came with the car to change out come spring. And the 92 325 is kinda a relic compared to your 99 M3, so nothing to advanced like a clutch/ignition sensor or whatever. but my 03 s10 has it
