The coconut fiber soil is also more sustainable then the peat moss, so good choice! I did a soil mix with pumice and coconut fiber for my cypress 70-30 and they like it so much! Byeee From Italy

For the Q&A about inside bonsai: I have been growing a Fujian Tea bonsai inside for 4 years and it is doing great. Use a sunny window, water as needed and wash or mist leaves from time to time.

Love your video content. My question is "do you ever use beneficial comparison plants with your bonsai?" Example I use big basin sagebrush planted along with my rocky mountain juniper. The sagebrush I found is the champion of nitrogen fixation to add in more nitrogen into the surrounding soil. In the wild everywhere the sagebrush grows the juniper are next to them.

You mean companion plants? I don’t...Sometimes people grow accent plants to display with their bonsai. Most bonsai material are hardy/tough trees, so they need no protection. Then nitrogen fixing method is used more for organic farming. It seems like a lot or work compared to a good shot of old chicken manure, which is what I like to use.

@@bonsaiheirloomthank you for your feed back, I don't know why my phone spelled it like that. Chicken manure you say 🤔 I might have to give it a try. Thank you very much.

hello doctor kollega =) in my soil i have, stone pebbles (2-5 mm). i sweep them up from after winter, they use it to put on roads in norway so cars can drive on ice, along with top soil from garden, and sometimes a bit of perlite if i want to be extra nice to the tree =) heard good things about coconut tho for tropical trees, i only have supply troubles with it.

Yes this high temperatures affect nature . I had 3 big trees that died even with drip system . They get roasted like inside of an oven.
@bonsaiheirloom
@bonsaiheirloom 11 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. Hmm…It does not seem that drip is compatible with big trees. I suspect trees died not because high temperature…more like not enough water. Many big trees are in hot parts of the world.

I do not know about plant royal coconut brick. Costco coconut coir comes in chunks, you should look for coir that is powder.

Ain’t Oaks deciduous so a spring repot only??
@bonsaiheirloom

There are both deciduous and evergreen oaks. Most of the landscaping and heritage oaks in the east are deciduous. Live Oak is evergreen. Here in CA, we have many magnificent Valley Oaks, which are deciduous.

Your trees are ugly and beautiful. Here in South Australia I get told how wrong my bonsai are because I like ugly.. the culture here in the bonsai community is wrong and not encouraging to do what you love.. it’s all about egos and rules.. thank Milton your channel is fabulous

There is structure and rules for bonsai. These are generally based on the history of bonsai from Japan. Those who are serious about growing high quality trees generally tend to apply the Japanese standards because most people recognize the Japanese grow the best trees. Growing plants is like anything else. Not everyone is interested in the formal approach. This is true for all interests. The more serious people get the more there is a need for common standards. I find Milton's trees to be pretty mediocre and not of particularly high quality. I study under local bonsai teachers and from what I am learning from those who I think have the best trees (like Jonas Dupuich) there are some pretty big differences from what is taught on this channel. Some of my trees follow more traditional teachings and others i just do what i want. I think we should ask ourselves if we are enjoying what we are doing and secondly can our trees become better? Getting better at what I do is one of the major motivators for me and to know what is good or not there has to be standards. Happy growing.
