Ever since the pandemic hit this country, my husband and I had been looking for a good home spinning bike. I wanted to take Peloton classes on the app, while my husband just wanted to ride for an hour, watching Netflix. With the difference in interests and goals, it didn't make sense for us to go all the way to get a Peloton bike. I did tons of research on Reddit and other customer reviews on Peloton alternatives. That's when I found your review videos on KZfaq. I shared my research with my husband and we decided to get the C6. We finally got it delivered today on August 28, 2020 (took 8 weeks). We are so excited to begin spinning at home. I just want to say thanks for sharing your story here! It helps many people like us making informed decisions that make sense for them.

Thanks for the great video, Andrew. I found your unboxing video when my bike arrived May 16, and I will keep watching as long as you keep making new C6 videos. I drank the Orangetheory Kool Aid for 18 months prior to Covid, and now I am drinking red Peloton Kool-Aid and it tastes good. I am also super happy with the C6 so far and look forward to future content. Thanks for answering my question about resistance over 50.

I left OTF too in favor of Peloton. Right now I’m using it for tread and strength but looks like I’ll pull the trigger on the C6

Very helpful , thanks for all the useful info- have used sister’s Peleton and like that not only lower cost but you can use an ipad and watch news, youtube and Netflix to get a workout rather than sitting on couch👍

A couple of comments' I would like to add. I had been riding my son's Pelaton every day for a week before my Schwin IC4 (same bike as the Bowflex) arrived. I expected to be disappointed, but I love the bike. I actually am still on his Pelaton account (it allows 4 on each account) and it still works for me, (even in a different state) since it is based on individual emails. We have an older (not smart) TV in the room, and I connect my iPhone with an HDMI connector to the TV. The cadence and HR monitor show up on the screen and I love the Pelaton classes on a larger screen. I am only 5 ft tall, and I felt like the Schwin pedals were farther apart than the Pelaton. I researched and found that is true (170mm Pelaton vs 190mm Schwin/Bowflex). I was worried it would stress my hips since I am small, but it has not been a problem at all. I am so glad we did not spend the money for the Pelaton, The Pelaton app is great, with many classes in addition to cycling.

I ordered mine on June 5 and it came on Aug 7th. Hope this helps. On the 45th day, I received a message that it would take up to an additional 45 days. But thankfully it did NOT take 90 days!

For me it was the built in display that sold me on the Bowflex C6. Just got it four days ago and already have three workout in! The display had everything I wanted so if I didn’t feel like paying for a monthly App membership. I ordered mid-July and it was about 60 days. Oh good to know about the USB - I haven’t found that yet.

Thank you for your review Andrew. I received the bike before I saw your review and I couldn't agree with you more. I LOVE this bike and feel it's the best investment I have made. With that said I was wondering if you are experiencing the same issue with the resistance knob. For example: If I am at a level 25 it is almost impossible to turn be able to turn the knob up 1 level at a time. If I am trying to get 26 it jumps to like 30 and if I stand up the resistance number will also change on the console. Have you experienced this? I wanted to ask you before I invest an hour trying to get a hold of customer service.

Sorry for the late response! Yes, the knob itself is slightly loose and takes some finesse to finely tune the resistance but after awhile, I got used to it and figured out how to turn the knob for the resistance to hit the number I want.

How easy is it to increase resistance enough go smoothly from seated to standing? It was easy on my Schwinn Johnny G, but it took too many turns of the resistance wheel to do it and keep a rhythm on a different bike. Thanks.

I guess it depends on your desired level of resistance. It took some time but I think it isn’t too difficult now for me. Just a turn and a half usually.

Hi Andrew. I got mine about a week ago and notice that my RPMs do not show on the screen and that my cadence in the peloton app always shows "0" even when the bluetooth is connected. Have you experienced this and/or know the solution?

I have not experienced this issue before. Have you followed the steps listed here? www.bowflex.com/bikes/faq/c6-bike-peloton-connect.html If so, and the problems still persist, let me know and we can try to figure out next steps for a solution.

Does the bike have to be plugged in? Also does it matter that the pedals are farther apart, or do you think it would be more beneficial for someone taller like 6 feet?

Hey Andrew. Thanks. One question, I dont have any Apple products, they say with Android the cadence and heart rate won't show up on the Peloton app. Is that a huge issue or can I just get the info on the Bowflex display. Just ordered one yesterday.

The console on the bike and included heart monitor should give you all those readings even if they don't sync with your Android peloton app.

So I also found the conversion chart when I first bought my bike. Curious though, if your only doing a 5 resistance, would the cadence be off also?

I don't know for sure but I think since cadence is "leg speed," it should be pretty universal across the board. I haven't noticed any difference like I felt for the resistance.

Andrew Au I ask because isn’t cadence going to be higher at a lower speed if your resistance is higher? Like if your going 60 cadence at 20 resistance. Is it the the same leg speed if you put up your resistance to 40?

Honestly, that might be over my head to figure if the cadence will still be here same is the resistance been recalibrated. I believe the cadence to still be the same no matter how the resistance has been calibrated on the bike.

@@cassietinsman1308 cadence is the same. Like Andrew said it measures the pedaling speed. If you increase resistance while maintaining a steady cadence your output will increase. So the peloton app with the peloton bike measures power output, which is the rate of your cadence at your current resistance. With the bowflex/schwinn bikes you only get the cadence measurement. Once you dial in the resistance using the conversion chart for bowflex to peloton you will be in the ballpark for the power output requested by the peloton instructors. I wish there was a more precise way to get power output but I haven't found one.

Thanks! We love it and use it still! We both try to bike 3-4 time a week. Sometimes we do a workout and sometimes we pedal while watching shows on our iPad!

to use the Apple watch for heart rate, would you select apple watch as the heart rate monitor on the Peloton Digital app?

Yes, select the Apple Watch as your heart rate monitor when choosing Bluetooth connections in the peloton app. I should also mention that your Apple Watch will connect as a heart monitor to only your phone. I’ve tried and failed to do this to an iPad. So only using the peloton digital app on your phone will allow your Apple Watch to be a heart rate monitor.

Sabrina Zapata I did the same but I’m finding it’s hit or miss with displaying and incorporating the heart rate with the Peloton bike. When it works it great. I find it only connects about 70% of the time

Hi Andrew, I am debating getting this Bowflex bike and the Sunny Pro. I noticed that this comes with an armband heart rate monitor? Do you think it is accurate? The Sunny Pro has the metal on the handlebars that tells you heart rate, calories, etc.

Unfortunately I have never used the included HRM bc I use my Apple watch to monitor my heart rate so I can't tell you how accurate the armband HRM is or is not. I think it comes down to budget for Bowflex vs Sunny. If you can go for a Bowflex, I would choose that over a Sunny.

Andrew Au my only frustration is that I’m having a hard time adjusting the handlebar. I pull down the lever and twist it but it’s not loosening up.

Cycling shoes with their firm soles make a huge difference when you’re standing and pedaling up out the saddle. The clip also gives you a much more secure connection to the pedal. As someone who has done many spin classes, I strongly recommend you get cycling shoes. They’re not very expensive.

I'm an android user so I can't connect my devices to the bike for peloton, it has been fine. However, I have to use the RPM display at the top and it's so little! It seems like there are big lines and small lines. Can you tell for example if the biggest line after 75 is 75 rpms or 100?

Hi Diana. I had a problem with this too. I am a certified instructor and have taught on different bikes, including Schwinn but never on a bike that does not have a digital RPM. I couldn’t stand it, especially for teaching and calling out RPM numbers to people who take my classes. So, I connected a bike speedometer (cadence meter) to my bike and now it’s great! You can get them super cheap - I happened to have one kicking around. Hope that helps!
