Hey Madeline! I am an expecting first time mum. I hope it helps to hear that to me your story sounds like a success story! Even though it was tough in the begining, you are still feeding your baby with your milk at 8 months and wow that sounds amazing to me! It is a shame I can immagine that you couldnt manage to feed him at the breast but pumping and feeding your baby to me still sounds incredibly successful. This gives me hope that even if something goes wrong with feeding at the breast there is still hope for me to feed my baby my breast milk, which has so many properties for him! Thanks so much for sharing your vulnerable story, you are awesome! Elisa

Hi Elisa! That’s so kind of you to say. Looking back now, I do think it was a success and I can finally be kind to myself and give myself credit for going with pumping for so long. But back then it really affected my mental health and I felt like such a failure. This is why with my second baby I didn’t want any of that pressure on myself, so we did combo feeding from the beginning. My mental health is so much better for it and I feel like I can be a better mum as well. Hope you have an easy rest of the pregnancy 🤗💛

Hey Madeline, thank you for sharing your story. I had almost the same story as you with my little girl. I felt horrible every day and the breastfeeding consultants never even mentioned this option but instead told me that if I even pumped one or two feeds a day (to give my nipples a break) I would dry up, which was totally a lie. They also made giving my baby formula feel like you were feeding them poison! It was such a hard time for me and if it wasn't for the online community of EPers I would have probably given up, but hearing everyone's success stories has been a huge pillar of support. Switched to EPing to save me from bleeding and was able to even build my supply to being an over-producer and me and my baby happy and healthy.

That's such an inspiring story. I felt the same way, like giving a baby formula meant they were pretty much doomed. I think people need to put less pressure on new moms with all these expectations. We're all trying to do what is best for our babies and our mental health. The online community really is amazing :) Hugs! xx

I’m an exclusive breastfeeding mama & can I just say how much I appreciate hearing your perspective & journey from nursing to pumping/bottle feeding, to formula. It definitely gives me a great sense of compassion & empathy towards mamas who struggle with it. Being someone who it came naturally to, I’ve found I can be a bit jaded about it at times but it’s so important to support one another. It’s not easy for any of us. Your attempt to pump for as long as you could was very inspiring also! Thank you for sharing your story. Loving your channel & Victor is the CUTEST ever 💕XO

Thank you so much, Brittany! Your comment really means a lot to me. I agree, moms should definitely be supportive and bring each other up. Every mom is doing the best she can for her baby. :) xx

Woww huge respect for you for pumping. I had the same Problem my Baby wouldnt want to breast Feed cause he was too weak (came 3 weeks earlier) so i also gave him formula. Then it worked out so i breastfed him to 4 months and i realized he was still Hungry so i gave him solids at midday and a Bottle before bed. And then the Bottles became more and more because i didnt have much milk and he didnt want to breast feed Most of the time. But seriously i enjoy our days soo much more now i dont have to worry about him if hes hungry or Not. And dont listen to other People every moms journey is different and our babies have the Best moms they could ever have so enjoy your life and focus on your family. Everyone that talks shit is either bitter or has no kids!!

Thank you so much, Estelle! Yeah, it's awful to worry about your baby being hungry all the time. I also felt relief after making sure he's getting enough milk. You're definitely right, I feel like moms should support each other and bring each other up, not down. We're all doing the best we can for our kids :) xx

I am 8 months pregnant and for the life of me I can't understand what's with the breastfeeding obsession and guilt. As long as the baby is fed - express, breastfeed or formula - everything is perfect. Moreover, how are you really to connect to your baby when you are a tiered nervous in pain wreck?

I feel the same way now - as long as the baby and the mom are happy and healthy that's all that matters. But I did notice a lot of shaming about this in the beginning and I was also quite hormonal, so I felt really affected by it. You're right, I couldn't really enjoy my baby in the beginning because I was so wrecked from struggling with breastfeeding. Ah you only have a bit left to meet your little one. Hope you have an easy birth and a healthy baby! :) xx

Reminds me so much with my story, I was very depressed and felt like a failure bad mom because My milk supply was law and it never increased with all the pumping and milk increasing teas and supplements and I had to give her formula because she never stopped crying and refused my breastmilk unless I mixed the very little milk that came out with her formula, so I start co sleeping and gave her formula bottle as if I was breastfeeding her (lol so determent) ... Now after almost 4 years when I look at my daughter who is healthy and happy thankfully I realize what children’s #1 need from their parents is for them to be happy and relaxed, and a good relationship among their mom and dad not breast milk nor co-sleeping ...etc Whatever gives you anxiety stop doing it , go to what makes you happy and satisfies your basic human needs because babies can really feel that and its affect them, do not over sleep deprive yourself ( more than normal moms😂) to the point where you cant function well through out the day, or even neglect your partner.. Now Im 39 weeks pregnant , and planing to exclusively breastfeed but with more flexible laidback mindset ( If its happens thats great, if not thats not a big deal I am still his most loving mother) Best regards from Saudi Arabia 💚

Thank you so much for sharing your story! You are completely right, all they really need is happy parents who love them deeply. I definitely feel a lot better about the whole situation now, but in the beginning I found it really difficult to deal with judgemental people. Aww, congratulations! You're getting so close to meeting your baby. Hope you have an easy birth and recovery! And good for you, I definitely think it's important to be more relaxed about breastfeeding and everything that comes with the newborn stage. Sending you big hugs! :)

I would love to see the video of how you increase your milk. I have this same problem right now sister :'(( please HELP me! :( what kind of supplements do you use for your milk?
@madelinevlogs
@madelinevlogs 6 жыл бұрын
huzur k Hey! I’ll try to film that video soon. I tried a lot of different supplements, but two things that I feel helped the most to increase my supply fast: 1. Power pumping for an hour once a day (pump for 20 mins - 10 mins rest - 10 mins pump - 10 mins rest - 10 mins pump). I would notice an increase the next day. 2. Domperidone supplements, but you should check with your doctor first about this. It helped A LOT, but you’re not supposed to take it if you have certain medical conditions, like heart problems I think. With domperidone I noticed an increase super fast. I hope this helps you! Sending you lots of hugs! 🤗

Hey Madeleine, I want to start pumping and giving a bottle alongside breastfeeding, just to give me a break. Pls can you tell me how I can tell how much milk the baby will need per feed?
@madelinevlogs

Hi there! That's great 🤗 It very much depends on the baby and each day or if they're going through a growth spurt. But I found some charts here that helped me figure out what to expect: exclusivepumping.com/how-much-milk-do-breastfed-babies-eat/ 💛
