I love that loud “thunk” when you really sink a tomahawk in the target. Split a wood target that we’d been using for a while in half. Straight up just grabbed the tomahawk gave it back to the owner and walked away. I was 13 and had only been throwing for about a half hour. Went back later by the time I was done I could hit dead center every time. Cemented my love of throwing knives and tomahawks.

I had a knife in my pocket since I was 2. We used to camp in the glades, Dad would hunt in the day, and frog throughout the night. We didn’t have any electronics back then, so we did a lot of whittling. In fact when I was 3, my Dad whittled me a fairly large straight blade knife, out of wood. It was so cool looking. Back when I went to school you could carry pocket knives, and your gun(s) hung in a rack of your truck on your back window that was in the school parking lot. We had hunting/ gun safety classes which included a section of bow (archery) training. We’d bring our guns (rifles/shotguns) right into school during the classes. I loved the times I grew up in. Love you Josh, keep the videos coming. It sounds like you have a great group of friends.

My Dad was a US Marine jungle fighter for the entirety of the Second World War. Needless to say, he had SKILLS. He told the story about bored Marines, in Cuba, who played chicken with their bayonets. AND.... were always getting bayonets removed from their feet. He taught everything he knew about firearms to his sons. But, he would NEVER teach us to throw knives, no matter how much we begged and cajoled him. He DID teach us how to sharpen them. A dull knife is dangerous. So we had to teach ourselves to throw them...……..

Pretty much all I have is my pocket knife, hunting knife, and a backup pocket knife I keep in the truck.
@TheAttacker7325 жыл бұрын
A good fixed blade work/fighting knife can easily reach $100, and that's just a tool steel blade, some kind of sheath, & a no-frills handle. You might get an anti-corrosion finish, you might not. There are other steel options, usually more expensive. Some companies offer a German tool steel, which is a minor improvement over your basic A2, D2, 1055, & other basic high carbon or tool steels. There's also high-carbon stainless steels out there, which are a nice combination of properties. These are far more corrosion resistant than carbon steels, while also having far superior edge retention to normal stainless steels. Sheaths are a pretty basic affair, either leather or polymer. Probably has a belt loop, might have MOLLE attachments. Handles are similar, either polymer, stacked leather, or sometimes wood. Coatings are, for the most part, many of the same options you might be familiar with in the firearms world, sometimes under proprietary labels, sometimes not. Nitriding, case-hardening, bluing, ceramic coatings, etc. And that's just looking at the mass production side, the custom world goes from there and doesn't seem to stop.
