Ive thoroughly enjoyed this video several times now and I believe a re-edit is called for especially with a little more detail about 'why' you bought each knife and what makes it special for you.

Nothing cuts like carbon steel,it got that special bite. Here in Norway we say a edge have bite. I have many old scandy knives from long dead famous knife makers/bladesmiths,and they all have the super hard carbon steel edge with lots of bite. They are all laminated steel as we allways has made them here since the viking era. Conserving steel and they dont break in the cold,the edges can then be made hard as nails. And axes for everything else,they are made the same way,laminated. I have many stainless knives, but i just love the carbon steel. That is also the only steel i forge. It takes lots of abuse and it bites.

Amazing isnt it how personal tastes differ!! I like my knives blade heavy, gives me more "feel"! But I do like your handle heavy 'bushtool' I feel like Ive got a "proper'!! Knife in my hand!!

And good luck with storm Eunice mate, we're forecast 85mph winds in my area and I know it's expected to hit Wales hard too.....the back fence was flattened on Wednesday, most of the local roads were blocked by fallen 🌳 and we had several power cuts - and its not even arrived yet 🤣 Thursday was spent sorting out and servicing the Genny and the chainsaws.

Before I even watch the video, I just wanted to ask if you are OK after Storm Eunice last night and this morning? It was a bit tough here in Reading, and we had to pull down our gazebo, which was busy blowing away! Will have some interesting repairs to do after.

Nope! You're not mental. I prefer the carbon Garberg better as well, and yes, I do have both. Actually, I did have. I loaned the stainless to my brother, and I have a feeling I'll never see it back because he loves it. That's fine though. It IS my brother after all lol.You do have a nice collection there! I have quite a few myself, but not many full customs. Just one of those.

I'm with ya man, something is off with the 14C28N Garberg. I've had two of them and ended up getting rid of both. I felt like I couldn't get the edges right with the belly to tip. They seemed to me too round or convex in the belly . I recently purchased a Carbon after watching a video of yours and hearing you say there's a difference. I dont understand cause there is a difference, it feels slightly lighter in hand. The edge cuts different out of box with the secondary bevel. I also notice that the secondary on my carbon is really small almost just a polished micro . My two 14C28N editions had much larger secondary grinds. I remember Dave Canterbury saying that the Carbon version took longer cause they had to use a different machine to grind the Carbon steel properly. All their knives are robotic machine made edges . I think the knives look the same but there is clearly something different with the edges . Or I'm just a biased weirdo about Carbon steel that I've let it cloud my judgment 😁 I'm currently leaving the secondary on it and going to slowly let it vex the micro bevel with a loaded hard flat strop over time. The grinds are so small I hate to take steel off of them . Plus I wanna see what happens over time . Sometimes I get ro anxious with new blades and always want to put my specific grind on them all ... I will do it this time , I must stay strong LOL. You should make a video about this and see if anyone else notices a difference.

Ok, now I'm not feeling too bad about owning too many knives. I know what you mean with the stainless Garberg, the 14C28N is a really good and tough stainless steel and it does take a comparably fine edge but the C100/UHB20C that Mora uses for their carbon knives seems to cut slightly better/smoother after the initial edge polish has "worn off" (I think you know what I mean). The Garberg is the only stainless Scandi I still have and I think it's fine for wet and humid environments but I wouldn't mind to replace it someday with a Bushtool made from AEB-L or even Nitrobe 77 (made by Damasteel just like RWL34) for example.

Outstanding collection, did you know mora came out with an eldris that has the regular scadi grind instead of the normal compound grind. I think they called it eldris lightweight or something along those lines.

What an interesting video , thankyou as always for sharing, I got that joker campero and mucked about with the spine and the profile and I dont like it . Another 90 quid wasted. I have come to realise for me personally I may as well use one knife like one of my moras and just get good with it. I like the blades and sheaths you made and at least your collection has value and you have the sense to sell some stuff you dont want. I also dont like that Ken onion with attachment, I get better results with my stones and of course the worksharp dont do scandi. I love watching all your vids be lucky Rob

Classic Collection...Sounds like I’m not the only one who finds 01 steel to perform better in a thinner geometry than A2 or even 3V. Or do I possibly just have a great example of one and not the others?

Please, have you tried the Jaakari Pukko 110? Even though I prefer the Bushcraft Black between that and the Garberg, people seem too like the Jaakari pukko more. Have you tried it? What a great collection by the way!!
