Someone broke into my truck and stole my expensive camera and wallet. After dealing with restoring my identity with new cards to replace everything in my wallet, an old friend and his wife visit me at my log cabin, bearing gifts. I've been spending more time away from my off grid homestead than normal, and I explain why and how that caused the theft of my camera gear. Gone is a Canon 1DX, Manfrotto tripod, Oakley sunglasses and more.

“I’m not gonna let that get me down.” That’s hard to say, as anyone who has had a big financial hit or known the violation of theft knows. But, it’s exactly how we should live our lives. Great sentiment, and inspires me to keep this in mind. Thanks for the contagious positive attitude.

What @federick moller said, probably a meth head. I never, ever leave anything in my car and it's still broken into. One time some dumbass crackhead couldn't figure out where the glovebox button was (it wasn't locked) so broke the whole dash, which cost more than the car was worth to fix....

Shawn I feel your pain! Few months back some loser broke into my truck and stole a good portion of my tools that I need for work. Sickens me people resorte to theft instead of working hard. Hope they catch the punks!

Unfortunately both of those things are caused by the flaws in human society. Complain about thieves but ignore poverty, complain about cancer but continue to smoke and drink.

Mom and dad taught me the ethics of working to get what I wanted and needed. If I couldn’t afford it, I didn’t need it. So I strived to worked my way up the “corporate ladder” by showing enthusiasm and desire to learn. I wish everyone had that desire. But like weeds in the grass, thieves are a nuisance and are never satisfied. God Bless you Mr and Mrs Shawn Jacobs. I pray your equipment is recovered or replaced so that we can continue to enjoy such beautiful and tranquil scenery.

We feel ya! We live in Jacksonville Fl, and last week we had home invasion while I was out of town and my wife and daughter were at work. They stole everything we owned and destroyed the rest. We refuse to give up. Onward. Never give up Hope.

I am sitting here reading this and thinking to myself..."Is there nowhere safe left in this world?" I am so sorry this happened to you and I am so glad that it didn't happen at your cabin...that has to make you feel some better. I hope the insurance comes through for all of the stuff you lost too. I hate when people steal...they need to go out and work for things, just like the rest of us have to. On a bright note, I have to say that I so love it when you film wild animals...their precious little faces and actions just bring such happiness to me. Unfortunately, modern police have zero incentive to find stolen items. They're totally 100% useless in these cases, literally the only reason to even call them is because you have to make out a police report for the insurance company... if not for that, you'd be better off not even contacting the police, since you're more often than not, more likely to get in trouble YOURSELF when you call them... because of who knows why. They always find a reason.

Oddly enough my friend & I have been watching and really enjoying your wilderness series on you-tube. I was looking at my e-mails and found yours about my 16 yr old tuxedo kitty. When I clicked on it I got your video about the theft of your camera. I saw Cali and recognized her from your Wilderness series. Then I put 2+2 together and was so happy to find we have been watching that along with your bird series.. So sorry you had your camera and tripod, and wallet stolen. Had my purse stolen twice. I was mugged by two men just after i cashed my paycheck . I lost quite a few things besides my weeky pay. They pushed me into a store doorway, i screamed and one slapped me and they grabbed my purse and ran. So glad i screamed as this was in chicago and the elavated tracks were just around the corner. I was xmas shopping for my boyfried. And another time i left my purse in a locked car while running in a post office in Wyoming . I couldn't have been gone for more than a minute or two.. my window was smashed to pieces. That was some years ago , thing's were not bad as they are now. And i was young. So i can really sympathize with you. Im so sorry you went through that especially because you seem like such a nice person and work hard to bring us such wonderful videos. I will say some prayers for you and your family and Cali. The positive is that it makes one more aware and more cautious.

As I said few months ago - *enable supporting* the channel, so it will be easier to secure stuff and buy more things to the cabin :) I will be the first one for sure! And you can thank such people in easy way. For example I've board with small printed and laminated avatars of my supporters. You can make such place in your cabin and show that wall sometimes. I'm sure you will get several hundred supporters. Not just for the money because you have it anyway, thanks to that you will take care of safety without your own expenses.

Always great to reunite with old friends. What an amazing treat, receiving all of that wonderful bear meat/lard !! As well as the turkey feathers. Congrats on that. Sorry to hear of the loss, due to theft. Thieves deserve every bad thing which comes their way. I hope you're able to get it resolved/recovered.

When you live as simple and humble and becoming in harmony with the Lord's good nature you tend to forget that evil still exist so please be more mindful when you are back in the city and where thieves thrive on innocent victims. I love your style brother! God bless!

Sorry to hear about your items getting stolen. Good to see you back at the cabin however it was nice to see you get a break. Always nice to see old friends. Glad you had a great visit with them.

I am sure you hv heard comments galore on your theft experience, and I am sorry to hear about it. I just want to comment on the beauty you captured added onto the vid of your friend from years ago that visited you. This was extraordinary of the bears and bird life. That was SO amazing! I can understand your love of the wilds and woods because of your apparent deep love for nature in its purest form. Thank you for sharing.🙏❤️

Sadly this is the time where are living in. And if you secured it to the hilt. they will still find a way. Besides it churning your stomach it is material and so as others have said. Hopefully the insurance company will do the right thing.

Very sorry to hear about the theft. Very nice to see you and the cabin again... and Callie!!! Sage is a wonderful smell, has disinfectant qualities as well as esoteric ones. Feeling fall coming here in the PNW too... a few leaves have begun to change. Garden looks great! Looking forward to your future videos and will keep going back to your Alaska trip again and again.
