Exam is over! To kill my time while waiting for the upcoming viva session, I decided to make a video about the facilities and schools here at Universiti Sains Malaysia, USM. I apologise in advance for the poor sound quality in this video because I was told that they were doing some construction work to prepare for the coming semester, graduation and other big events. I hope you find this video helpful and may this inspire you to study at this wonderful university in the garden.

Hi..May i know, at USM how many semesters can we stay at the hostel? And if we have to rent outside, is there any house there near the campus? Hope you can answer my question

Hi Syafina! For the hostel, it's all up to the students. You may stay there until you finish your programme. For the rental house, there's plenty, the nearest one would be University Height, located opposite of the main gate of USM. Thank you for watching!

Hi there, you can opt for Ayam Penyet or Pecal Lele at RST (Restu cafe), Fajar Harapan cafe (look for an Indian aunty) or Bakti cafe if you want to go for Yong Tau Foo.

Entah kenapa sejak isteri melangkah masuk buat pjj di usm penang ni tanggungjawab terhadap anak-anak dan sya sebagai suami di abaikan. Dia lebih kepada kegiatan di luar dan sering bermalam di luar dengan alasan kursus dan buat assignments. Adakah ini perkara biasa sebagai seorang penuntut usm penang dan semakin berlanjutan. Anak-anak dan suami sering ditinggalkan berjauhan

Saya amat bersimpati dgn suami yang mempunyai isteri yg menyambung pelajaran atau PJJ. Moga saudara sanggup berkorban dan bertahan sebagaimana ayahku seorg yg penyabar. Bkn senang belajar sambil bekerja, lebih2 lagi ada suami & beberapa org anak yg juga masih di bangku sekolah. Ibuku merupakan seorang guru yg yg ambil pjj. Kesian ibu mnjalankan tanggungjwb sbg isteri, ibu dan juga guru. Masa itu aku masih di sekolah menengah.Lantaran byk tugasan ibu selalu stress, tidak gembira & kdg2 bergaduh n berselisih faham dgn ayah. Tapi Alhamdulillah berkat kesabaran kini ibu dah 5 tahun dpt deegree. Kecekalan ibu mnjadi inspirasi utk aku yg kini berada d USM.

Thanks for this video. I want you to explain the system of the studying here. I am going to study Master in mathematics (mix mode) I want to know how many exams we have to do in each semester. When can choose the topic of our thesis. Give us some advice for improving our study.... Could you please do it? I will be thankful.

Hi Muna! That depends on how many paper you will have per semester. Usually we would have our final exam, some mid term assessment. I think you can start looking for your potential supervisor since your first day at uni. The earlier the better. I'll come up with another video soon, ya :) As for now, I'd say revising by answering past year questions available on the repository website would do just fine. Thank you!

Muna Qader Hi Muna, for Masters in Mathematics, you will have 4 courses in the first semester and one course in the second semester. You’ll do only one course because you have to take dissertation in your second semester. You can finalise your supervisor in the first semester, so you will have time to decide. However, it is not a bad idea to browse around the lecturers’ profile on Maths website and see their research interest. It will definitely help you finalising your dissertation topic.
