May I brag? I have to tell you because I know you will get it. I got my All-American canner for $30 at Goodwill. I was ecstatic!!! When I walked in I saw it right away. Some guy was checking it out. I walked up and waited to see what he was going to do. The second he took his hands off I put it my cart. He chuckled and said “You know exactly what that is don’t you. “. You betcha!! He said he was tempted but couldn’t use it and glad that someone who was going to use it get such a good deal 😃😃😃

Good morning Heather!🌦 I woke up this morning to this video. I thought you had just released this, as part of your new canning series for beginners. You said Paul was at your house for Christmas, and something about January made me think it was new. Until I was reading the comments. 2018 lol 😂 I have the new edition of Home Canning 2020, The Amish Canning Book, and The Ball Blue Book. Your message is your new video 2021, has made me feel more at ease. Thank you, God Bless you with this beautiful gift. I see God Shining through you✝️❤️😊

I've started my two canning wish lists on Amazon. One that will have the things that I'm going to get with my canner and then the one with all the things that I want! Now I just need a rich relative to get me everything I need/want!!! I love what you said about the library! I completely forgot about getting canning books there. I'll be going to the library after work today!!!

Hi Heather, new subscriber and already in debt to you for the first bread recipe and tutorial that I was successful with! I have a friend/housemate who just brought me a 10 lb. bag of KA flour after my 4th awesome loaf! 😂 I'm eager to get into canning and this video was very informative, thank you for that! I'm going to pick up the books you recommended, starting with the USDA and Amish ones, before I invest in the equipment. I'm disabled and on a fixed income so it will take some time to acquire the canning materials, but thanks to you, I know where to start and that they will pay for themselves in no time with the savings on food purchases! Thank you again for your videos, they are as enjoyable as they are informative! Hugs from NY, Laura

O thank you, thank you, thank you for your time to make this great video. Thanks for your patience and detail explanations. I don't know anything about canning, nothing. I wrote down the names of the books, and canner. I plan to get the first two books and the last one, read them before buying anything but jars when I see them and have the money because they are so hard to find it seems. Again, thanks and God Bless.

Golly, Heather! This whole video was spot-on! I couldn't agree with you more, especially the canning cookbooks. The Amish Canning Cookbook is my go-to resource for everything I can. I reference my other canning projects by looking up info in my other cookbooks. Stocks are expensive and they all- even the organic stocks- have sugar in them. What?!? Controlling what goes in my food is important to me, so canning is my way of doing just that. Good job, Heather, good job!

Hey Heather! This is a great video. I learned to can from my mom, we had a large garden when I was growing up so we canned just about all the food we needed for the winter. So if I told how many years I’ve been canning it would be crazy. But I still am very cautious and read all that I can on canning. When I am canning I look up canning times to make sure I do it right. If I open a jar and I don’t like the way it popped when I open it I throw it out. 😉 Even though some would consider me an advanced canner, I don’t because there is still so much to learn and watch out for. I also am an ingredient canner, I have some jars of soup starters from the Ball canning book that I thought I would love but I just don’t grab them like I though I would, lesson learned. About the ONLY thing I can like that is chili beans, which I absolutely love to have on the shelf because I use them so much. I found another canning book that I really like as well, SO EASY TO PRESERVE,by Cooperative Extension of The University of Georgia. I just got it but haven’t made anything from it yet. But I did enjoy going through it. It has a lot of practical advice as well. I got mine from from the National Center for Home Food Preservation site, it’s much cheaper there than on Amazon. Great video for new canners. I’m teaching my two daughters to can now that they are ready, when I was growing up it was what we did, then it seems like it went out of style, but it’s coming back I’m glad to say! I LOVE canning!

I have now watched a few of your videos, as for some reason you came up tonight. I am new to canning and have enjoyed watching you. A week ago I bought a Presto 16 quart canner, and this past week I canned on sale chicken twice, and yesterday also did BBQ pulled pork. I enjoy the canning process, and at a time like now where they are talking about food shortages and all, I thought I had better learn how. I didn't really want to start pressure canning now, as in the past I had just done water bath, and thought pressure canning would be too complicated. But I actually enjoyed it, and it feels good being able to put food back for just-in-case. I have enjoyed your videos. You have a very nice way about you, and I have subscribed. Going to look for that Amish book too. Thanks.

This is perfect timing. I live in Southern NJ and even though there are TONS of farms, canning seems to be a loat art. No one I know does it. Canning supplies in our stores always has dust on them. 💔 Someone at my work recently approached me and said she was inspired by my Instagram pics and wants to learn. Her mother also wants to learn. I almost hugged her! I'm so happy she wants to take this journey. I sent her links to this video. This is the inspiration you're providing to us!

This is so helpful and you are so wonderful for all yiuvdo for us. Been wanting to start canning for a long time and everything you do has helped me learn. Would love to have a list of links and KZfaq channels and videos and books that you find useful. Many creators have stuff in the description of every video. I suppose they copy & paste or something like that to make it easy. That would be very useful in my opinion, at least to me it would! I would also save you from searching for and reposting it several times Thank you so much for all you do! You’re very appreciated!

You know, i do have all of that typed out and saved as a default in my description box HOWEVER.....youtube will ONLY add it if I upload using my laptop. It will NOT add it to videos when uploading using my phone. 😫. And since I do jot have internet, i am unable to use my laptop. I MUST upload using my phone, using my Sprint cell tower to upload. Its messed up. There are quite a few things now that I can not do without high speed internet access. I have tried using my cell phone as a hot spot to upload using my laptop but its impossible. I do not have unlimited hot spot usage and uploading in HD quality makes it impossible to do. Unfortunately i can not physically type all of that out each and every time. 😕 I am so sorry. I wish I could for you. ❤️. I actually considered quitting youtube because uploading is such a nightmare and takes so much tome and effort to do now, but after much prayer decided to keep sharing as much as i can, in any capacity i can manage. ❤️ Where I live is so rural, we dont even get mail service. 😂 So I dont foresee the ability to get internet anytime soon. Its just not available where I live. There are no lines out here. 😕 I miss it so much but for the beauty and peace we have living here, we have learned to deal. Its also nice not being plugged into the matrix.😂 The kids and hubby! No one is online anymore plugged in! Its very old school here now. 😂😂😂😂 Like days before internet! 😂😂😂😂😂

Thank you again, your great but I have to admit after listening - I'm tired - you homeschool, maintain the home, help you husband, family and friends (one of your videos had you going to bed after midnight and getting up when it still was dark). Hey Heather 🤗 Thank You Thank You Thank you 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 I have learned a lot .. I have a American canner sitting on my shelf .. my hubby got it for me for a gift ..I want to use it so bad . And I have readed the information on how to use the canner . Over and over . But thing that I don’t get is how to keep the temperature at the right time or degree. Do you start the canner up on high and lower it . What if it goes down on temperature.. will you have to start over on time 2 . Do you put hot water in the canner and have it going before you put your jar in the canner .. 3 or do you have the canner getting the water hot first before the jar go in the canner . I know you wash all your jars with hot soapy water.. and then do you put them in hot boiling water use the jars super hot .to add ingredients.. I got most of the things for canning But I need to get the plastic stick for D bubbling . Fantastic idea to draw a black line for the pressure canner so you know how much water to put in the Canner .. super We love beans .. I just got a 50 pound bag . Would love to can it all .. haaaaaa we use beans with everything.. we cook beans on the camp fires and when friends drop by the ranch . Cold days great with chili .. but I want to thanks you super much for all you help 🤗 Stay warm enjoy your family And Merry Christmas 🎄 Love ‘ll Blessing 👩‍🌾

I found a 6 piece canning tool set online for $19.99 on a Amish general store. I think it looks just like yours yet in green. Looks like a good deal. I really want to can fruits and vegetables as the prices are going high on stuff and want to have them on hand in case emergencies.
