In this video I will go over my cervical cancer treatments. I underwent 25 sessions of external radiation along with 5 doses of the chemotherapy agent Cisplatin. Then I had 5 high dose internal radiation sessions. I go over what happened during my treatments.

My internal brachytherapy was pure hell! I would NOT ever go through that again.

No one tells you about brachytherapy. It is nothing you can explain. There are no words for it. There is no pain medication. There have been test on what women have gone through and the experience

I had that same treatment had a terrible time getting diagnosed. The first oncologist said oh I see a spot on your cervics! Dont believe its cancer and didn't want to see me again. In less than a year I was diagnosed with stage 3 with a different oncologist and it was in my lymph nodes. Brachytherapy at the end was something no one can explain. Very traumatic. Humiliating. If the first oncologist would have been thorough I wouldn't have had to go through this. Its been a nightmare. I dont feel ir look like me. Im wondering when I will. I felt every radiation. It made me very sick all of it.

You are telling my story. I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer on 7/14. In hospital for 10 days. I just finished my 25th external radiation today !! My last chemo (#6) is on Monday. I am also receiving Cisplatin. Next weds I have surgery (the sleeve) before the 4 internal radiation tx. I just finished my 5th week. I’ll be done all my tx on 9/17. It all still seems so surreal. I’m just nervous that what if none of this worked after I’m done. I swear everything u are talking about is EXACTLY what I am going through !!

Kristen Cary the heart was sort of like giving you a hug. Just remember that the radiation continues to work after treatments are over. On my last day of internal radiation my cancer wasn’t gone. A few months later it was. That part was very scary. You’ve come so far and the light is at he end of the tunnel is there. You can do it!

Stubborn Determination that’s what I keep saying and being nervous about. Like what if it’s not gone? I am super nervous about my surgery for that sleeve thing and NOT looking forward to the internal radiation. I have 4 of them scheduled within a 2 week period and then I’m done on 9/17. It’s so nice to have someone to talk to bc I feel so alone although my family is there for me 100%. My parents have been amazing

Kristen Cary I understand everything that you are going through. It is difficult and my family was there with me but you truly can’t understand unless you have been there. All I can suggest is to try to keep thinking positive thoughts and believe that your the treatments are going to disintegrate the cancer. It will be gone!

It is a personal decision. I didn't want to go through it and my initial response was to get surgery and just get it out. That has other issues all of its own that are risky though.

How are you today. I am scheduled to have RT and chemo soon and i am very scared and not ready to do it. Your videos are very informative and it gives me ideas of what i should expect. May i chat with you and ask few questions about long term side effects. Im very worried about esp becoming menopause instantly 😔

I am starting my treatment tomorrow radiotherapy and chemotherapy I have cervical cancer 1b3 I am a bit scare what will be happen to me but I have to fight this cancer ♋️

Take it one day at a time. I was so scared the first day of treatment. Radiation was scary but the first day of chemo I cried. I kept track of days/ weeks and that helped to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As far as cancer treatments go we are lucky that it doesn’t go for a year or require 5 different types of chemo drugs, so that is at least something to be grateful for. I hope and pray that you are one of the lucky ones that goes through everything with very little side effects. I was unlucky so that you can be lucky 😊 Feel free to reach out if you need to talk. What tap of medicine can same one use when it is stag 3b

The medicine that they generally use is a chemotherapy drug called cisplatin. Since the radiation is the primary treatment the chemotherapy helps the radiation work better. When I was getting it, I was told that I was only getting a 60% dose.

I believe that the treatment for that would be the same thing that I had: external radiation with chemotherapy followed by internal radiation.

@@stubborndetermination6373 just a little nervous trying to be positive I got diagnosed with cervical cancer 2 weeks ago now I’m waiting to have ct scan and mri next week.... my doctor says I need 5weeks of radiation and one week chemo

@@dominoeffect7493 the chemo should be once a week and I had 5 rounds so 5 weeks of it. It shouldn’t be everyday for a week. Trying to stay positive is important but can be difficult. There are good days and bad but the important thing is to try not to dwell too long in the bad days. I hope that your scans come back with good news! 🙏🙏🙏

Stubborn Determination yes he say once a week chemo your right and thank you I got Thursday for ct scan I’ll follow up with you and next Friday mri I already had pet scan
