That's one good thing about the back seat; if you could set your camera up looking out of the window between the seats, youd have a great rearward view of the whole journey 😊

The issue with the reservations seems likely to be like crosscountry 170s. No reservations are marked out on the train, and if you board at one of the early stations with a flexible ticket or season ticket, you sit down. Only to find that is reserved later in the journey. I have only travelled on flixbus once. The driver on that journey was excellent also.

Wow your miles per pound were not too bad on this one eh!? I was surprised it took so long initially, but then that long stop had something to do with it. It's nice all the same to be able to get out and stretch the legs and not be worried about the coach leaving again. Cool t-shirt by the way!

Once took a Megabus London to Plymouth and back Friday to Sunday. £1 each way (+50p admin). Saw my team play Plymouth Saturday then waited for the 7am Sunday service to London. Showed up as a London Transport double decker, remarkably cheap. 5 and a half hours back bailing at Earls Court on the way back as my spine couldn’t take anymore

Great video! (like many others you've done). With regard to the seat reservation 'problem', it really shouldn't be. Whether you print off your ticket or store it on your phone, the ticket will clearly show the seat number(s) reserved. Really it's up to the driver to ask people to move if they are sitting in a reserved seat. This problem arises mostly when people board halfway through a route. Taking your seat at the point of origin will obviously negate this problem. Also worth noting is that Flixbus allow you to book the seat next to you for a small fee (usually around £4) thus ensuring even more comfort for a long journey. Keep the videos coming! 🙂

The service you were on is run by Berry’s Coaches of Taunton,which know you did review of before and had not great experience but glad this trip was better,they also run the 045 and N45 Penzance and Plymouth etc services to London and VV,they use 21 Plate Vanhool’s,on those services,and it’s good service too.

I have been on a number of Flixbus journeys where the seat reservations have been disregarded by the drivers both when reserving seats on the back row and when paying extra for front row seats.

I do book early to get the best fares recently I booked on 2nd July in fact, a return journey from Coventry to London with national express for 2 People @ £42.20 return on 18th August looked the day other same journey same days & times £27.20. Contacted national express excuse was prices go up and down bit of difference in price and had this before the reason they do it is to fill a coach. Did not want to know so sent the CEO an email call back from customer services same excuses again but as a good will gesture will refund the difference not the money but principal of the thing and not good business practice. If you need to find the age of a coach or bus put in the vehicle registration on check car tax on government website and will come up on there. Keep up the excellent videos.👍

Great video as always nice to see another coach trip plus a Flixbus one quite intresting that Flixbus moved the pickup point into the city of Birmingham hope the information about the coach on your community tab the coach is really good for a 2015 Volvo the seats looked comftable accmpanied with fold out table plus drinks holder great to know that the single USB port worked perfectly, the toilet facilites were awful having no water or soap plus the automatic hand sanitiser not working either 38 mins early for Sheffield is very good indeed great to know that the WIFI connection was working and very good, £2 for a 5 hour and 30 mins is an absolute bargain i would certainly do it, in a whole you looked like you enjoued it ive been on a coach holiday in Llandudno in North Wales for 5 days with Daish Holidays the coach was a really nice Mercedes Tourismo white coach only a few years old it was great i came back 2 days ago the weather every day was sunny plus warm i really enjoyed myself anyways i hope your having a good evening so far Mark and keep up the great content on your channel as its so enjoyable and entertaining to watch 👍

My experience with seat reservation on Flixbus is mixed. I have had trips where only certain seat where reseveable. Namely the first row, last row and the row behind the back door / toilet. Since regardless of type of bus and the number of rows, these rows always exist. Smart.

That was an incredible deal. We're in Canada so had to do a little Googling to learn about the ticket freeze on bus tickets in the UK (or is it just in England?). How much would that journey cost normally do you think? And, although sorry for your fellow passenger's plight, we laughed right out loud about the woman who got her hair caught in her seatbelt. Mean, I know, but it struck us as quite funny. What a way to start a trip!

Wow. For £2 it is even less than the £2.50 cap for single bus fares. I only used Flixbus twice, once in France between Metz and Strasbourg and once between Bregenz and Zürich, and I had very good value for money with the latter, paying €8 for the trip including a reserved seat which was able to seat on. By checking the plate, I found out the coach belongs to Berry's Coaches, with whom I remember you had some disappointment

I wonder if the reason for your scenic tour of Newcastle was that the Central Motorway was closed for a week or so recently following a fire by the side of it - John Dobson St is only a couple of minutes from the M-way! Also puzzled why you came in via Heworth (unless there was a stop there that you didn't mention) as it would be much quicker to follow the A1 rather further and then come into town from the west near the southern end of the Redheugh Bridge - or even turn off at the Angel of the North and use the A167.

Great to see FlixBus adding new routes,and a direct one at that avoiding going round the houses. Given the crazy prices charged by Cross Country I can see this route being very popular. The coach only takes 2 hours longer than the train. Maybe they will will launch a similar one down through Manchester. I do love Newcastle and mid week you can find bargain hotels. My cheapest ever trip on a coach was in 2012 from Manchester to Bristol with Megabus for £2.50 over a long weekend so given inflation yours was fantastic value.

The reason you had a long run into Newcastle, because at the turn off it supposed that it would have taken, the motorway was shut due to a fire caused by arsonists which closed it for a nearly week to make the said building safe. I got caught out with the seats allocated at the back, so paid 99p to move, as for most journeys start at £3-99 .

The seat reservation issue isn't good especially for passengers with mobility issues as they may have booked an additional seat and close to the front to help with there needs. Look at the miniature Sydney Harbour Bridge in Newcastle.

I took this route when it was Leeds to Bristol and there was no seat reservations and none offered on booking.

Booking early is key. I managed to get a return ticket. London Euston to BM new street for £6z

A total bargain - even if the loo wasn't in A1 state!

Another downside of these streetside pickups/dropoffs is that, well, on a journey of that length one is very likely to want to, to put it euphemistically, wash one's hands after getting off, isn't one, particularly if the toilet on the coach was unfit for purpose. That's another thing to consider if you're just dropped at some bus stop, particularly if you're arriving in the evening when everything's shut

Unbelievable price. Couple of pounds for that distance. The local arriva rubbish charges same amount for half a mile journey...

The seat reservation issue seems to be a fairly common problem with Flixbus. It would be cheaper to fix the issue, than repeatedly refunding passengers.

The current (Aug '23) fare is £8.99, no cheaper for booking months in advance.

My best deal was megabus Glasgow to Inverness for.... £1...

Doing my first Flixbus trip next week, Leeds to London. Booked weeks ago Panorama seat 1A plus paid for extra seat next to me. All good. Then suddenly they cancel my booking and reallocate me to an aisle seat in row 14. I checked the seat map for this journey and the bus was completely empty, except for my new row 14 seat. Of course you can’t telephone anybody to question this and the webchat bot is just a joke, so I re-booked my Panorama window seat in row 1, paying a further £3.99 to do so, and I wait to see what happens. I tried sending messages to get a full refund, so I could rebook with National Express, but Flixbus refuse to refund, all they’ll do is give a credit note, which I don’t want.

Totally agree the driver has to take their statutory breaks, the services are well and truly overpriced and they rip you off.
