I had cancer myself. Today, 6 years ago, I got my first chemo. I met a girl named Marena, she was singing this song next to me. We became close friends... untill she died, fifth of may, 2014. Her last words: "the hardest part of this... is leaving you." She was a true MCR fan. I miss my bestie everyday.

Im a mcr lover, but this is a soft song, when gerard sings songs like welcome to the black parade» it seems like he forget to breath.

Do you want to see other proofs that he really can't seem to cope with how fast/high some of his songs are in live? I love this version of Cancer but the other parts of his songs in his 3 cheers for sweet revenge part is bad at best...

@LazyAlternativeBrat6 жыл бұрын
anthony morales I think what it is is that most of the MCR fandom pretty much grew up listening to them without any real understanding of the real world around us. Like I didn't even know what cancer or diabetes was when The Black Parade was released because I was only 10 years old. Now that I'm 21 about to be 22 with friends who unfortunately have these diseaes, the song takes on such a different meaning and sentiment when you really pay attention to the lyrics. Idk if that makes any sense or not

Fuck. Everything about this is beyond perfection. The way Gerard seems so in the moment, the way everyone seems so in the moment. How Gerard's voice flows so beautifully throughout the lyrics. How, finally, there aren't any insanely loud instruments to cover up his voice. Only the piano to compliment his ever so slightly raspy voice, that still somehow sounds so velvety and soft, probably due to a mixture of coffee and cigarettes. And I won't even think of forgetting how, at the end, he pauses for the longest time, and let's the crowd's cheering sink in to himself, and everyone else. Then he finishes it off so wonderfully. I know I may have went overboard with the description of this entire performance, but oh my god. This is so unbelievably overwhelming to watch. I get choked up just trying to savor this. I can only imagine what their concerts are like.

I can never hear this without crying. The song is beautiful. Two years ago in May my Grandma died. She was really sick and was even in a nursing home for a while. For Christmas actually. She always said she was hurting but my family brushed it off as her being dramatic. She was home for a while but she wasn't the same, she was seeing things and talking to air. one morning my mom found her coughing up blood so they called an ambulance. As they pulled up to the hospital my grandma started tearing up and begged my mom to take her home. But we didn't know what was going on so they took her in. She was diagnosed with Colon cancer. It was so far gone, it had travelled throughout her body; including her brain. It was too late to do anything to help her. No chemo, nothing. My uncle drove my other uncle and I to the hospital where they told us. I was really protective over my nana because our family treated her so badly. She was always a bit messed up; she was from England and witnessed WW2 as a kid. When the doctors told my grandma she was going to die, she was so peaceful. she didn't cry. a week later she was in the ICU completely unconscious. I sat there, listening to this on repeat, trying to comprehend what was happening. My aunt and mom made us all leave that night and I knew I would never see my grandma again. But unlike everyone else, I couldn't say bye. I couldn't say I love you. because if I were to talk, I would have broken down. I miss her. since then I've lost my uncle and my grandpa, but my grandma still hits me the hardest. I'm not looking for pity, I just want to show how this song is super important. It helped me through one of the hardest times of my life. Their music still keeps me alive, helps me cope. I miss them. But thank you for writing this song, it means a lot to me.

ChemicalSkeleton I'm so sorry to hear. I'm going through the same exact thing you're going through. Christmas break, both my grandmother from my mom's side and my grandfather from my dad's side had to be rushed to the hospital. My Popop had always been in a nursing home, due to a stroke and other complications. He passed last week. We didn't want to see him suffer anymore. He had pneumonia and a UTI. He was on life support, etc. Fast forward to now, my grandmother is diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. We don't know how much time she has left. Surgery isn't an option for her because she's so weak and frail. It hurts to see her. It hurts so much. 😔

Reminds me of a live version NIN did of Hurt. Trent Reznor took the same approach, stripping the instrumentation down to piano, slowing the tempo a bit, and using a massive backlight on-stage. It just makes it so atmospheric, and the crowd fed off of it (almost) as much as they did here.

While i was going to the comment section i was actually hoping to find somebody how feels the same as me, now im actually sad that i couldn't find someone. Or maby i have to scroll futher. But i have to cry very much because of this song and not only because it's beautiful. But alsobecause my grandma has died 4 month's ago because of cancer. She had tumors in her brain and died because of it. I loved her verry much, but sometimes im afried that i wasn't nice inaugh or didnt call her much. That are mistakes i regret. But i now that she loved me dispite of that, and i loved her so much to, i still do. She was lucky to have led al long life of 90 years with all the up and downs that come with it. And i know that she wass still full of life and easily could have lived 90 more. She was a amazing stong women. Forever in my heart. This song had make this feeling verry loud. Mrc thank you for that
