You've explained a part wrong. So, At 12:45 Kalam's father knew that one day Kalam will have his freedom to achieve success and gives him a example to inspire him that a seagull fly alone and without a nest across the sun. He is trying to explain that if to achieve great heights you have to stay away from your home and be alone won't you leave to achieve them, you will. But Kalam's mother was hesitant so to make her realise that Kalam has his own freedom and life ahead Kalam's father say at 12:57 these lines to her. That's what it says in the book beehive.

But his Father remained steadfast and gladly allowed him to go to Ramanthapuram for further studies instead of his mother. His Father also gave reference to Khalil Gibran who was the type of philosopher or Author and said that Line Of sons and Daughters. You have said wrong by giving a reference to the mother as his mother was upset with that news
