the similarities between North African and Balkan traditions are very remarkable !! my grandparents grew everything in their garden all sorts of veggies and fruits , in my parents garden we still have figs and different kinds of oranges , we used to have apple, lemon , and almond trees as well .

I grew up in Lithuania with my grandmother and aunt both having either growing fruit and vegetables or millions of different flowers, and I didnt really appreciate it at the time, and now that I live in Ireland I have days where I just want to go back and enjoy those moments :)

My family is Greek and we grow all sorts of things, from olive, orange, lemon, pear and other fruit bearing trees, to tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and many other vegetables. It's a lot of work but it's worth it since you avoid all the dangerous pesticides. Bulgaria is actually beautiful, it's so close to my country and I'm gonna be visiting soon, which is very exciting.

when i lived in new jersey as a little child i remember we had this massive garden with tomatoes and string beans and all types of herbs and it's some of my favorite memories of that age

My Dad grew up in the country. Every year he would grow string beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, romaine lettuce, squash zucchini. He would add a few new veggies each year. Tomatoes were my fav they tasted so sweet.

My mom is from Romania, and my grandparents live here in the states in NY, and their backyard looks like that! They grow so many veggies and flowers, I love it!

Raya... don't worry about daily vlogging because I believe that viewers come for the person doing the vlog.... their perspective.. their narration... their own personality and their own timber of voice. Your voice is relaxing and welcoming. For me I just want to only spend my time with good, happy (they don't have to be perfect), clean people who are not vulgar and common. I enjoyed your post because your particular sweet views and language are so lovely all the time. I've also been amazed at the intregration of beautiful nature shots like you did of the flowers and bees. The colors and your choice of music is unique, beautiful and inspiring. Raya you are a most charming young woman. Your vlog warmed my heart and that is a great way to start my day. We had a small vege patch. We grew everything bar potatoes. I remember in summer on saturday mornings being in the garden with my parents as the strawberries were being picked. They were huge and juicey. I could not live without a garden. I bought my little house simply because of the tree in the tiny back garden.😀

my pop and i had a lemon tree that we both grew together.a few weeks after he passed away there were tonnes of lemons on it.. we moved states and had to leave it behind but i bought another lemon tree and have it in the back garden

When I was a kid I had my own mini farm in the backyard. I grew veggies, peppers and tomatoes. I even grew corn and yam :) The yam was a little frustrating as it took about a year... but the reward was incredible. Happy days.

I also grew up in Bulgaria, but now I'm living in France ! We come back in Bulgaria every summer for a month and I miss Sooooo much Bulgaria. My grand parents live in Presiyan, close to Targovishte an hour or two away from Rouse, and the also grew vegetables in their garden which is as big as yours. My favorite row are also tomato because they are soooo sweet and they taste the best here 😍

yes! grew up on a farm in the british country side growing giant marrows, cherries and elderflower bushes. Then moved to South Africa and grew avos, passionfruits and figs. Amazing what climates can do!

HI Raya! I grew up outside of NYC and my family grew most of our fruits and vegetables. This was mainly because my parents were poor hippies. Lots of tomatoes, peas, beans, peppers, pumpkins, strawberries and tons more. I loved it!

I spend nearly every summer of my childhood at my grandparents house in Poland. They have a huge garden with lots of food growing. Sometimes I even don't need to eat lunch because just picked some tomatos, carrots or apples while playing outside. Since we build a house with our own garden in Germany we also grow some delicious vegetables. Every year I just can't wait for the summer and don't need to buy the rubbish stuff from the supermarket.

I'm from Oklahoma. My family has a farm and my great grandmother always had a huge garden. My favorite fresh veggies are everything I need for pico. Tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalopenos, and limes. Our largest crop for our friends and family was corn. Gardens are the best!

Been here on this channel from the start, Raya. Your over 100,000 subs. Good choice on challenging yourself and doing the work! It can only pay off. We had a 15 by 30 ft garden in upstate NY in our yard. Cherry tomatoes (thousands). Beans, carrots, Lettuce, Tomatoes, etc.

oh yeah. my cultural background is lebanese. my parents migrated to Australia in the 60's and brought all of their awesomeness with them and they grow all sorts of fruit and veggies. I'm currently learning how to farm so the tradition carrys on. love your videos. keep up the great work.

Bulgaria is so pretty! I love fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden :) I grew up too with it in Germany, my grandma planted currants (I dont know if the word is right but google says is lol - in german it's Johannisbeeren), rhubarb, raspberries, tomatoes, etc... but now our garden rebuild to a kind of parking spot because of my cousins business. but one day I want to have a own garden again! I also had a sandspit in the garden and played there everday. childhood memories

in the town i grew up in there was this space where people from the less rural(?) parts of the town could rent gardens + a small garden home we only had an apple tree in ours but my grandparents had tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, gourds, berries and just so much ;-; i want to eat that good stuff again!! I might go to Bulgaria this year with my interrail trip ^^

My mom and I have made a garden every summer for the past four/five years and we are loving it! There's nothing better then fresh picked (pesticide free) vegetables. Plus, she makes the most delicious salads ever. This year we got a little surprise when a mama bunny decided to make her nest next to our peppers and beets. Unfortunately, she had to abandon her babies when she got attacked by a cat, but we managed to save three out of five and they're now living with us until they are old enough to be put back out. So we basically grow everything in our garden, even bunnies :P

Raya, I am from Romania and we also have the tradition of the white and red string and is very much alike with the one in your country. Actually, is sth common to various country from Eastern Europe. In my area, women wear it from March 1st and until the end of the month pinned to their clothes together with a brooch, close to the heart, or on their wrist like a bracelet, until the last day of March when they tie it to a tree. It is considered a symbol of spring and it used to have talisman properties, but nowadays is a symbol of friendship, love and appreciation, and women are gifted with " martisor" and flowers through March - it is like a Valentine holiday that lasts all month!

I would spend all my time here! Love the Ottoman style house...I saw loads of those in Albania, Turkey, Greece, and Safronbolu in particular :) Love the Bulgarian traditions btw.

I'm from Florida and my favorite thing was my grandma's orange tree. I have my own garden now full of flowers, succulents, watermelon, tomatoes, green beans, strawberries, herbs and other lovely things.
