You really simplified the darkroom. As someone who is primarily self-taught, really seeing how this is down and its easy too, Gonna be saving up for the equipment, because I really would love my own darkroom in my crib. Love how you used the bathroom. Really showing how you are making a way with no way haha. Great video bro!

I was recently gifted a color head enlarger, trays, easel, and timer. It's a bit dated, but I tested it out with chemistry and fuji paper and it seems to a good job. It came with trays, and while it's a simple setup, I'd prefer a roller drum. I've been looking online and they're pretty expensive. I've been toying with the idea of making one or of PVC pipe. One other thing, ventilation. That blix smells really bad. I don't know how toxic this stuff is but I also wear gloves messing with this stuff. I like these past few instructionals too. 🎞️👍 Thanks for sharing. Be safe out there across the pond.

thats not a bad idea. would love to see if you can pull it off with the PVC! yea i keep the door open for ventilation. i also often do my developing in the kitchen instead of bathroom, so i can open windows.

@@ribsy I'm sure I saw someone on KZfaq making tanks from PVC Pipe. Like soil pipe. you can get cap ends for them too. Less sophisticated but cheap...

For test prints, tear 8X10 into 4X5 and use a small Cibachrome processing tube for 4X5. The latter is now hard to find.
@ribsy
@ribsy 3 жыл бұрын
hey. i already do that to save paper, but i don't have a smaller tube. i could maybe save a little of chems that way

in 2010 i bought a bessler 23IIc from an estate sale of a complete darkroom set. it came with a color head and until now i have printed black and white. doing one shot and forgetting the trays might be a valuable innovation or technique. i like the subtle differences that enlargers have.. variety of darkroom workflows.. my english is bad and i speak english.

Another great video, liked and subscribed to your channel a while ago, great content, I was hoping after watching the step by step printing video before you would let us know the chems and paper used so thanks for that. Keep up the great work.

There is an app for calculating the difference in exposure needed, I think it's called enLARGE. With it you're allegedly able to test print on tiny pieces of paper and then print big! Not sure if it's only B/W or also color.

MF doesn't have a fixed size; 120 goes from 6x4.5 to 6x9. For 645 or 6x6 an 80, 6x7 90, etc. You usually go with your camera normal lens focal length.

Nope! Too expensive but also have trained my eye very well! Most prints I can handle with just a couple of test strips. Sometimes it does get crazy tho and I need it haha

Jobo used to make (dunno if they still do) called ColorLine 2. Easy to use and consistent.

Do you use the same chemicals for paper as you do for film?
@ribsy

nope! RA4 and C41 are different. apparently they may work for each other, but the developing times will get crazy, let alone contrast/color

@@ribsy Ah cool, thanks a lot. Do you think it'll apply to the Intrepid 4x5 enlarger too as, to date, I've only used it for black and white and not as a colour head?
