I left SU a year and half ago. I love all the new companies I have found. My organization method is keeping companies together. I have cube bins that fit in the kallax unit and each bin is that company. I still haven't completely overhauled my craft room, but it's all a process. Enjoy the journey!

Wendy, here is my 1 and only tip for stamp set organization. Your sentiment stamps, gather them all together and organize in alphabetical order. Get Well, Hello, Miss You, Thank You, etc. You get the picture. Super easy to reach in and grab exactly what you need. No sorting when they are alphabetized.

I work for several different companies, and tend to store things by company, and then by season (so I have a die storage folder for Kokorosa for Christmas, and also a Kokorosa folder for non Christmas). I do the same for pattern paper packs. I find it's easier then for filming videos. Then I have other die storage folders that are just random brands (again split into type - Christmas, flowers & foliage, sentiments, Male, other). Hope that helps. 😊

I’m trying to answer questions you had as I’m watching: 1. If you are planning to do work for individual companies, store your product by company. Otherwise, store by theme. Since you stated that you are doing work for some companies, I would do all of them that way in case you eventually do work with those other companies. 2. Yes you can store Zig markers standing upright. That’s how they are sold and stored in the warehouse. I’ve had mine that way for many years. 3. Can you put the Trinity Stamps blenders next to the Picket Fence pouncers on the ink carousel? Or get the Fridge Bins super skinny bins for the brushes and put them on a shelf. It would essentially turn the bins into drawers. 4. For the shelves made by your friend, put up cards that you are proud of on them to remind you of your growth. You have made a huge change and there may be some bumpy times, having a visual reminder of why you began this new chapter could be very helpful. And it’s pretty too. lol Thank you for sharing your room. It’s wonderful! I’ve had several spaces over the past 27 years I’ve been scrapbooking and card making. The biggest thing I’ve learned is to leave room for growth and expect changes. Congratulations on your new journey and I sincerely wish you all the best.

I concur 100% with @barbborja1910! In fact, I was going to comment some of the same things. I, too, store my stamps/dies and stencils by company. I would sort by theme only if cardmaking was my full time hobby. I know you'll figure it out what works best for you over time. Don't get too hung up trying to figure it all out quickly. Our craftrooms are always changing! LOL

@@Kimmcdougalcrafter I agree. but I also keep embossing folders with them. I usually remember what is in my go to Co's have. But I also have a lot of different Co that I keep together with the theme. Holidays, Flowers, Children, Mystical, Geometrical, etc. I also keep my odd Co embossing folders together, and my stencils (unless it is used in a certain die & stamp), and categized them by theme in each category. I find that I use them more because they are easy to find and to see. That is how my brain works. Put together how you use them. Your organization only needs to work for your brain. As you work with each Co keep all items that you use together. Then look at what items that you use for the next Co. See how your brain works for finding items. See what over laps and what is the same. Give it a week or 2 a try first. Your room is beautiful and peaceful. It is easy on the eyes. and the mind. Very comforting.

i buy empty dvd/cd cases to put my non su stamps in (and i have a lot of non su stamps/dies)! they are the same height, etc and they can be stored on your shelves. i have mine colored to match the company. for example lawn fawn is mostly green and white so on the inside paper on the spine i used a label maker to type the name of the stamp set, because it looks so much better then my handwriting especially if i don't write them all out at the same time, and the bottom inch of the paper i used a marker and colored it green. granny apple green! haha! then they all line up on the shelf and it looks so nice. the paper inside the case is the same size as the su paper and i just stamp the images on it for quick reference as sometimes it takes longer to read the acetate sheets, especially if the word stamp is not lined up exactly with the acetate image. if there is a die set that goes with it, i put it in the case as well. usually in a ziplock if there are a lot of little pieces. otherwise on a magnetic sheet. some hints to make it look good on your shelves... have a template and measure up the bottom that is to be colored. so they are all the same height when on the shelf. start all your labels at the very top of your paper so it gives a straight line across all boxes or start all the labels right on the color line which gives the bulk of the bottom area all lined up with the different label lengths going upward. i do mine lined up with the top edge. that is a lot of information for a simple suggestion! lol oh.... i recently sold a lot of my su stamps at a garage sale. there is no resale value for them in my area. the market is flooded. so i decided to keep all the containers for myself and sell the stamps in a ziplock bag with the cover sheet from the case. after all, if i am not going to recoup much of my money, i should get something out of it! and if people want the stamps at that cheap price, well they get it in a ziplock. 🤷‍♀ i really like what you have done with your craft room. a lot of work! oh.... another thing regarding organizing your stamps... i organize mine by company, but i have an index binder with a photocopy of the stamp on each page and those are organized by subject.

I am not a designer so my storage thoughts are different from yours. But, I tend to store by company. I am an eclectic stamper and purchase from many companies. When I think of a stamp set, it is from a specific company so I go to those sets to find what I need. Good luck on this adventure. You may change your mind a few times as you get your flow.

Oh Wendy, your space is starting to take shape. I don’t have any suggestions on stamp storage BUT you could use you 31 bags in your car. I use them for groceries (no more plastic bags); days when I’m running errands, put all your bags in the tote to make it easier to carry into the house. Pool bags, take stuff to the fire pit, picnic extras, or donate the them to a women’s shelter. Just a few ideas.

I file my non SU stamp sets by category. If they have dies, the dies go in the envelope with them. I file my stand alone dies by category also. This has worked well for me. I have used the refrigerator bins for storage. I have some wire baskets but they are high enough that you can't see too well when scrolling thru. Tall bookcases work really well for my bins.

Hi Wendy, your pups are way too cute! I recommend you store your stamps and dies by company. Within each company, you can choose to store by theme or, in my case, alphabetical order. This will be helpful as you've mentioned that your goal is to work with specific companies. You don't want to have to go through heaps of stamps to find the specific brands' products. Maybe use those special shelves to display cards?

So many helpful tips from viewers in these comments. I would LOVE to work with design teams and it be a job. My disabilities mean that I just don’t have the energy to do what I want. LOVE YOUR PUPPIES!!!❤ I store my stamp sets in one pouch with any coordinating products, i.e. stamp, dies, stencil, etc. Then I store by company or theme ( still a work in progress for me too) But, like you, I have my shape dies together, then stand alone as well. I do the same for my stand alone stencils and hot foil plates, and then letterpress plates. In my pouches, the card stock is color matched by category. So, stamp sets with coordinating products have white card stock as a backer. Dies that are stand alone or shaped, I use kraft card stock , stencils I use black, etc. This way I can easily know the area of my craft room to head towards. My room is long and narrow, galley style. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress, it helps me to better streamline my craft room too 😊

Love your space! I would store stamps by company. It would make it easier for you to find things for future design team projects. I would also copy the stamps in a book and number, so you can flip through it to find things, or for ideas. That way there’s not a need to separate alphas or themes. Good luck finishing this big project!

I have multiple companies, mostly SU, but I love Honey Bee as well. First off I file by season/holiday, and those go in bins that I can store away when it's not that or about to be that time of year. Then for the general stuff I file by category, so background patterns, floral, bugs/birds, garden, critters, outdoors, etc.

I would say to organize your stamps by company & then by occasion. Since you will be designing for different companies, it might help you to keep them separate so that you can go directly to that stamping business in order to find products that you need. I enjoyed your video; it is inspiring. I know now that I don’t have enough storage. However, I need to declutter in order to get more. 😅 Ferls like an endless loop.

I love how much you share your creative journey and thought process with all of us. I’m currently in the sorting and organizing and purging into big categories (e.g., stamps, dies, tools, bling, etc.) stage before moving on to fine tuning into more specific categories (e.g., Hero Arts stamps and dies, Honey Bee stamps and dies, Pink Fresh stamps and dies, , Simon Says Stamp stamps and dies, Stampers Anonymous stamps, etc.). So you’re way ahead of me! I’m watching for other’s suggestions to you to get ideas and for future organizing videos you may decide to do. You’ve probably heard of Totally Tiffany, but in case you haven’t - she has some organizing videos and some interesting thoughts on organizing and some products to use in organizing. I think it is possible to use her organizing ideas without purchasing any or all of her products. Also, as someone else mentioned, Jennifer McGuire has some videos about some great organizing ideas. Question for you - with all this lurching and reorganizing, do you have some steps you follow when listing items you are selling? Do you always use a certain platform? How do you photograph, describe, and price items? Do you ship items sold and do you charge a separate shipping charge or include it in the price of the product? Is this a topic you would consider doing a video on or can you recommend some helpful videos on the topic?

I'm a combo organizer. Most of my sentiments are by topic, many are by theme like flowers, nature, sea/ocean/beach or season/holiday like Christmas with subsets within the season. And I have a few that are strictly by company because I love their stamps so (Ex: Penny Black). Inks, markers, copics, etc are by brand. My stencils are all together because I have very few as it's just not my "thing." As you can tell Variety is the Spice of my Craft Life. And I'll keep everything in this kind of "order" until it doesn't work for me any longer. Then it'll be TBD🤷‍♀️

For organizing your stamps, how does your brain work? I have a customer who does everything alphabetical: stamps, dies, embossing folders. I have categories within the type of crafting tool: Animals, Sentiments, Flowers etc. Each categories in alphabetical order. It is going to be important for you to know company. Could you use circle stickers on the spine of stamp sets and maybe other things: Blue for Altenew, Green-Lawn Fawn etc. can buy white stickers and color with a marker instead of buying lots of colors of stickers. Big thing is to know how your brain works. Nothing is superglued down. Organization is always a work in progress.

My mind goes in several directions when it comes to storage. Seasonal, category (floral, etc) sentiments, but the crossover is where my mind shuts down. Maybe a cross reference within a grouping when something could go in a couple groups, just a quick list saying trees/leaves also in Xmas or in fall or spring or? Not sure if I’m making any kind of sense here, which is where my mind is also! LOL.

Also, leave your stamps like they are and then purposely notice how you think about what stamps you want to use. Do you think by theme? Do think remember a certain manufacturer? Season? A quick way to reference your stamps is to take a picture of each set, print off each set on cardstock in a uniform size and put them on a binder ring or in a binder. You can flip through the pages, write any notes you need to and write a location on the cardstock of where to find the stamp. It is quicker when you just take a picture rather than stamp them. You could even digitally sort them by cropping and sorting. But that’s a lot more work.

I organized by Sentiments, Christmas, Floral, Masculine, Kids, Halloween, Easter, Valentines, animals, birds, insects, nautical, magical etc. I get the 8x10 sticky magnetic sheets and 8x10 cardboard and 8 1/2 x 11" secure top folders (come in a 25 pack) from Amazon. The magnetic sheets (come in a 30 pack) come in a plastic sleeve - which I put the cardboard into (cardboard scome in a 50 pack and I use the white side, not cardboard coloured side, which shows off the stamp sets beautifully. - then use a full, half or quarter sheet and adhere it to the cardboard. put my stamps which cling to the plastics sleeve that I already put the cardboard) on the cardboard and dies on the magnetic sheet place all into the secure top folder. I place the packing (cardboard from which company the dies or stamps came from, and pictures of card ideas that I've printed off and put that in the back of the folder and put it in a filing cabinet. I can flip though easily and pick out what I want. Keeps everything together - no falling dies etc. and easily and bring anything I want out to use - then just put it back in the filing cabinet. Easy access and you know where everything is - including ideas. You can catagorize by company name, but I do themes. I also scan the front which shows the dies and stamps and place that copy in a binder. I also label each secure top with what is in the folder i.e - hot foil plates, press plates, stamps with matching dies, stamps with stencils and dies etc.
