Hello and welcome! 🧚‍♀️💕✨
Today I’d like to share with you some pages I created over the past week in my colors glue book. This is a great way to relax and try to get those creative juices flowing - or at least let’s hope so because I’ve been in a bit of a creative slump! 😅 Come on along with me and let’s see what we can create!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon! ❤️🌳

Good morning Janet, so so lovely to see you! 🧚‍♀️✨💕 Yes, a gentle time is for sure what I need this week. Think it’s time to visit your corner of the world and see what you, Freddie and Flo have been up to. That always recharges me when my creative well is feeling low. 🥰🎨✨ Hope you are enjoying a cozy, creative day today. Sending lots of love and hugs from Sophia, Evelyn Rose, the forest beasties and I to all of you! ❤️🌳🍄🐿️✨

Good morning Liane! ✨🧚‍♀️❤️ Thank you so much for your kind words, appreciate that so much! Love how everyone’s glue books are so different - we could all have the same images and we would still come up with different pages. It’s so much fun, I think I have to get back to it today and sneak a few more images in haha! So glad you stopped by today, hope you are enjoying a cozy and creative day! Sending lots of love and hugs to you my friend! ❤️🌳✨🦄

Hi Amy, so lovely to see you again. 😊 I love your glue book, and you along with Ker have inspired me to begin harvesting magazines for my glue book. I picked up some cool Kids National Geographic mags and have them with me while away for work for some fussy cutting. And its always ok to be zapped. No pressure, it comes back. And i do believe what Ker says about the longer we leave it the harder it is to go back. Having a glue book is a perfect way to get back into the swing of things, even if its only a few minutes on a page, or even the fussy cutting in preparation. Wishing you and all the critters at Doki Doki Forest a fab day. Big hugs, my friend. 😊🤗🧚‍♀️🍄🌈🌊🐞💥❤️‍🔥💜💃

Hello Coralie, how are you? ☺️✨💕 Oh I’m so excited you are harvesting images for a glue book. Kids National Geographic is a fantastic mag to find awesome pics! I’m so looking forward to seeing what you create. (no pressure to share of course!) I’m finding glue books are such a wonderful way to relax into creativity, even as a warm-up activity before diving into something else. Just harvesting magazines or fussy cutting images is relaxing. The only problem is I love harvesting the images so much (it’s like a treasure hunt isn’t it?) that I sometimes take a bit to actually sit down and use them lol! 😂 Thank you so much for stopping by and hanging out with me, always love to see you my friend! Sending lots and lots of love and hugs from me and all the beasties over here in the forest to you! ❤️🌳🧚‍♀️🧜‍♀️🐉🦄🍄🐶🐸💕✨

Lots of great stuff going on here! Those blackberries that nearly filled the page, so scrumptious and the purple elephants page...LOVE IT. Sometimes, it's enough to just flip through the pages you've already done, sometimes, that's just enough. I have a pic of my four Bostons all sleeping together on the couch...I'll have to send to you...all intertwined like those wonderful little B&W pups...so adorable. What helps (warning, it's not soft and fuzzy, lol) but I'm a firm believer in the more you do of a thing, the more of the thing you'll do.The more you write, the more you'll write. Writing every day builds not only a habit, but momentum (whether it's exercise, reading, painting, walking, meditating, whatever it happens to be: making art: no difference). I've taught writing/creative and otherwise for decades and one thing I've heard from students forever is "I have writer's block"...to which I reply: there's no such thing, lol. "Being blocked" is just an excuse creatives tend to use for some reason. But really, we should come at it like any other thing that needs doing, just because it's a creative endeavor doesn't make it "magic". There's no such thing as "waitress'' block", "accountant's block" or "truck driver's block" or "housecleaning block", meh: I'm just not feelin' it...Well, okay, there may very well housecleaning block, come to think of it 🤔 And it's kinda' like skipping school, the longer you're out, the harder it is to go back... Here's a kinder-gentler thing that also helps a great deal: stop when you're wound up vs. stopping when you're spent. If you leave in the middle of something, you know just where to pick up the next day. If you work until "the end" where is there to go? Leave yourself breadcrumbs to start again the next day, something to be excited about, that your brain gets to work on the background until the next session, then you and your brain/mind will be chompin' at the bit to get to it. 😉 Either way, no reason to be hard on yourself. There's always a lot going on, and sometimes we just need a break. Even from making art/being creative, having fun in our giant toy box. And that's ok. Being the literal beast that I am, I think it's perfectly okay as long as we don't get lost in it. Call it what it is, a break...mojo is never lost. It's always right there with you, ready and waiting ✨💜🖤💚

Good morning Ker!!! 💜🖤💚 Awww thank you so much for all of this, really appreciate your thoughtful and insightful comments. ❤️ Absolutely agree with you that the more of something you do, the more you’ll do - like exercising a muscle! So if it’s been awhile, we might be rusty and it might feel a little weird at first, but we can get back to it if we just get to it! 💪 ✨ I think the phrase “being blocked” is a popular phrase but what it actually means is that there is other stuff currently taking our energy that has caused us to need a period of rest. (for me it’s actually being overwhelmed) And not even just from creative stuff but from everything. (I’m looking at you housework!) 🤣 You’re right - my mojo isn’t lost but was definitely temporarily napping lol! 🤣The energy I could have used lately for creating was spent elsewhere, usually something to do with caretaking for others which then wears me out for a bit. But as you say, then it can be harder to go back for sure. So for me creating in the glue book seemed to be a great way to gently dip my toe in. (Some days you dive into the creative pool, some days you just dip a toe slowly!) 😄 Loooove your idea of leaving creative breadcrumbs for the next day, that’s brilliant. Works for me for sure - I can’t wait to add more little pieces to the glue book pages I’ve started. 😍 Thank you again for all of this, so so helpful and I was very moved by your supportive words. Thank you so much for being an amazing friend. 🥰 Hope you are having a cozy, creative day (with mojo ready to go like Austin Powers LOL)😂🤣 “Yeah baby yeah!” 🤣 Sending lots and lots of love from Sophia and I to you and sweet Bitsy! 💜💚🖤✨✨

You are spot on, Ker! I knew that getting started is half the battle in my head in a vague way but you nailed it! The days drift alarmingly fast and the longer you put it off the easier it is to go one more day! I especially appreciated the part where you stop when you are still enthusiastic, still more to do so you have a starting point the next session! Pure brilliance! That never occurred to me to work that way.

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Amy and all my friends at doki doki forest. Obviously one can clearly see that zapped mojo no longer exists.........just loved this vid. That creativity has never left.......it was there all this time, you just had to exercise it. ............ yum cheesecake growing on plants........ That works for me Somewhere i read a humorus thought.............. Chocolate is derived from the cacao bean. the bean is a veg. Sugar is from the sugar cane or beet........... both are plants which just proves the point that chocolate is a vegetable Tweet Tweet

Hahaha YES chocolate is now (and always has been) a vegetable - I am totally on BOARD with that! 🤣 See, this is why I just love you so much! I hope you and ice cream unicorn are staying warm up here these days (did ice cream unicorn ever manage to locate some hoofish mittens and booties?). Yes, you can definitely see that the longer you were gluing the more you got into your stride. That happens to me when I am just sitting down to a session. Your pages turned out wonderful. I was tickled to see some of the purple items I sent. I also was pleased to see some of the pictures out of the magazines that I had just harvested out of earlier today! Some of those images are like old friends ha ha! Sometimes I just like to do backgrounds just to get rolling and then later come back and glue my focal pieces in when I’m warmed up. But it was all fun to watch and I just love listening to your chatter as you played. The thought process behind the gluing is often fascinating to me.

Good morning Jeanne! 👑✨💕 Glad I’m not the only one who sometimes looks at those blank journal pages and struggles to fill them… at first! It’s funny how we can just feel it when we go from overthinking to relaxing into the creating. 💕 Oh yes those purple items you sent sure came in handy! Thank you again so much for sending, so thoughtful of you to put those together for me! 💜 Isn’t it so funny when we see images we harvested or we know we have collected in someone else’s journal? Yes I think I might like to do a session where I only do backgrounds, but not the kind where I stick a bunch of images together, just one image backgrounds so that way the page is done in one fell swoop - no thinking! (or over-thinking I should say) That way the book has it’s first layer all ready to go and there are no glaring white pages staring at me haha! 👀 Thank you so much for popping by, always love chatting with you! Hope you are enjoying a cozy, creative day my friend. ❤️ Sending lots of love and hugs from me and all the beasties in the forest to you!!! ❤️🌳✨🦄🍄🧚‍♀️💚

Hi Julie! 🐹✨🌈 Yes the big background images really help to get a page started don't they? That way we don't just have this large blank page staring back at us lol!!! 😄 The composition books are great for a gluebook - inexpensive and easy to just jump right into right?! If you can glue out of sequence in the composition books (like do one page in the front, then one in the back, then one in the middle, repeat...) it helps so the spines don't get all wonky. (you probably already know this but just in case!) Thank you so much for popping by and spending some time over here today. Wishing you a delightful day and hope to see you again soon! 🦄🌈✨🌿🍄🐸🐉

@@dokidokiforest I've already done about 8 background pages in a brand spankin new composition book JUST NOW! I had this idea to cover each right hand side of the pages with paper (of some sort) backgrounds, then after I do that, I will have a paint fest with acrylics just smearing paint with an old card, on the left hand sides, and kinda matching the colors used in the backgrounds on the right hand sides! With the papered on one side, and painted on the other, I can use Sharpies and really anything on either side! Will it work? We shall see!!!!!

Good morning Birdie! ✨🧚‍♀️💕 Awww thank you so much for your kind words, appreciate them so much. I’m absolutely thrilled I could inspire you to keep going with your art, even when it feels like it’s not “flowing”. Of course there are those times when it’s best to take a break and walk away, but sometimes I just have to stick with it and get past the “awkward” beginning so I can ease into the part when it feels like I’m connecting. (Like riding a bike - might be a bit wobbly at first but it will get smoother as we go… usually lol!) 😂 Thank you for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful, cozy, creative day! ❤️🌳
