My daily routine for guitar practice: Step 1. Go to work Step 2. Leave work and pick up kids from school or sports. Step 3. Get ready for work the next day. Step 4. Get to play briefly on Saturday after work before yard chores. Welcome to dad/garage band. And ultimately not being that good on guitar lol. Enjoy your youth kids. Playing guitar is a badass way to spend your time👍🏼

Even with a full time job. I have also never stopped practicing for 3-5 hours a day. Its all about the dedication and putting in the extra time into doing it. 2 hours before work and 2 hours after tends to work out best. Not that bad.

I have twin 5 year Olds and my wife and I both have full time jobs. Not that easy if I want to be there for my family. I love them and had a family on purpose, I'm just saying not everyone's life is the same. I'll take an hour per day before work and a little on my lunch break. I work at guitar center. I also randomly get to jam or record music in the evenings and on weekends. Just have to make sure not to waste all my time outside of family time playing video games

4h is not "that much". 6h a day of PLAYING is by far standard for anyone who wanna be/is a professional/tries to be. u can easily get 10-12h of "guitar work" if u put in there the filming+ editing+recording+ research etc. If its strict playing, usually u wont play more than 6-8h, but i can speak only for myself and a very close friend. We def had many days of 8h+ of playing. Its like any other "job" or prepping for a job. Yall been to uni ? u study all the time u awake-sleep-back to it. This no diff
@castleanthrax1833
@castleanthrax1833 4 ай бұрын
@@cechichanWhy are you quoting "that much"? The op never implied it was an excess amount. All they were saying is you don't need to practice for 5 hours a day to get better, or even to get good at all. After a certain amount of playing, you aren't improving your muscle memory or building on your knowledge. The human brain can only assimilate so much knowledge, and it's the same with muscle memory. You can play for 12 hours but it doesn't mean you'll be getting 4 times better than someone who plays for 3.

When I was a kid I used to get home from school at about 3.30pm and play until 1am - unstructured, just doing whatever. Writing I guess, noodling, trying to work out how to play things on a record (this is before KZfaq). Over the years you slowly end up having fewer hours in the day for playing. But any time spent playing is worth it. I do miss those carefree days though.

I've been practicing to a metronome a lot recently and it's amazing the difference, also like you say bending I don't get to practice everyday as I don't get chance, but I've tried to be a bit more structured and I've found myself playing stuff I found difficult with a lot more ease, I work a lot on pull offs, hammer ons are so easy but it's the pull offs and instead of playing say 1234 I play 4321 playing the descending stuff is far more difficult so I concentrate on that, if you can play it descending anything else will come a lot easier, or at least that's what I found works for me

Idk y I get so jealous when I see someone better at guitar than me, it’s something I hate about myself but I feel like if I put in more hours it’ll just make me feel worse I’ve been stuck on the same songs and making the same riffs, it sucks but idk what it is about this vid, it’s kinda giving me hope in a way since I learned that Marcus King riff in like 10 min so I know I can but I just keep myself at a halt, it sucks man but like I said this video gives me a bit more hope for myself to become a better person and NOT get jealous since I’m tired of putting myself down and not accepting the fact that there’s others with years of experience out there. Sorry just wanted to rant since this video kinda made me see differently a bit more, thx :)

Some years back I was subject to procrastination on the guitar : either I let the guitar in its corner for almost the full day and only finally played it at the end of the day, or (5-10 days later) I got over my lazyness and grabbed the thing for several hours in a row but not knowing where I was going... (and ended up more wore out than necessary !). Trying to solve this problem I now play SHORTER 3 or 4 or 5 sessions in the day EVERYDAY. That's how I found that during my procrastination period in fact the most difficult thing to do was move my ass and grab the guit. I think it is the key point that allows me to go forward.

Ive been seeing people say that they don't have energy or something to practice guitar this much. It honestly shouldn't be a chore. If you're not enjoying it for that long then maybe consider a new instrument, bc i believe you shouldn't do it if its not fun. I play guitar, and I don't set a timer for how long a day I should play. I just play all the time, whenever I get a free chance. Because I love it. I get lost in playing and end up playing for hours even though it only seems like 20 mins have gone by. So don't push yourself if you don't really want to. Ur choice, just a suggestion!
