My Diamond Painting Organizing Systems: Fails and Wins

Hello my diamond painting friends and KZfaqrs!
Today I finally recorded the video I promised you about my organizing solutions for everything related to canvases and drills. The only things it doesn't cover are my system for organizing the drills I am actually using, and the spreadsheet I use to track everything to do with my diamond paintings and accessories.
Specifically, this video covers my organizing systems (tried and true, as well as those that didn't work so well) for:
- tracking my paintings - what "stage" they are at in the project lifecycle;
- storing drills for future projects;
- storing my stash of diamond paintings - both complete and not yet started;
- storing and organizing my leftover drills at the end of a project.
The cardboard "portfolios" are from the Trend File and Save System. There are different sizes, and there are also boxes to keep multiple portfolios in. Here are links to the ones I bought from the Staples.ca and Staples.com websites:

Love all of this. I think we all have some weird hybrid of ideas that we have modified for ourselves. I myself have to "unkit" within a day and have to put everything away in its spot. My collection of paintings is not nearly as extensive because I think that in itself would make me switch into hyper organize mode which takes away from the joy of diamond painting. I am not ready mentally for binders of paintings to do. Lol.

Denise, I posted a video about 2 months ago that showed pictures of all the ones I had or had ordered at that point (I think it was a little over 100). I have acquired another 30 since the last stash video was posted, so it won't be too much longer - likely late spring or early summer. 😊😘.

You note books caught my eye. Good idea. My paintings that I have not done I hang in a closet I use a skirt hangers with clips. If it is a finished picture hung in closet with a clean trash bag covering hanger

I bought a whole bunch of skirt hangers so I could do what you do, but the paintings kept sliding out and falling on the floor, Soni gave up on hanging them, and now I store them flat in large cardboard file folders. It takes up valuable floor space, but on the other hand, I think the weight of the diamond paintings on top help to adhere the diamonds to the canvases ok the bottom, so I feel better about having to walk around the folders whenever I go in the spare room. 😁😘❤️

I don’t have any problem. I do by hangers that have rubber on the clips. Also I use that shelf paper that don’t slip (kind with wholes) just cut enough to go in under each clip. That stuff has a lot of uses!

I am waiting on my very first diamond painting and I have a feeling it is going to become my newest addiction, therefore I have been watching youtube videos to learn all I can. At this point I have learned a lot however, I am getting confused on the terminology of it all. Do you have a video that explains what a DRILL is? Etc.... Thank you for sharing this video.....it has given me so many ideas for my future addiction.

Hi Dani! Welcome to the diamond painting community and my channel!! "Drills" is what we call the diamonds we use for diamond painting. They come in round, square, or special shapes, and in over 447 colours. I will make a video about diamond painting terminology later this week, and I will also do one on all the wonderful and different kinds of drills. Superb organizing system! What works for one can be a disaster for others. For me, I do not buy more than I can realistically complete. Too many kits makes me anxious & feel overwhelmed.

Wohhh... You've got a massive collection 😯... I prefer the bigger canvases if I could afford.. Can you please do the reviews on the larger canvases in particular 🙏...or may be size wise... That helps a lot atleast to me... Looking forward to seeing your videos 😁

Have you tried the Gemflow app?? You should try it, it is a way to keep all your diamond paintings in one place, Like what do you wait for, what do you have in your stash, what have you finished, gifted or sold.... It is so convenient to use!! It will for some reason not show up if you search for gemflow... If you want to try it you will have to search for Diamond painting app on AppStore or GooglePlay.... Maybe you could do a review of it on your channel?? Love the video BTW

Hi Alex - I found GemsFlow (there's an 's' in the name, which is why your search for it didn't work). I downloaded it and might do a video on it in the future, but I have a very, very elaborate spreadsheet system I developed and use religiously to track all my DP stuff. It has about 75 data points for each diamond painting as well as for all my diamond painting accessories and supplies, and it works for me, so while I might do a demo of GemsFlow, I won't be using it for my collection long term, especially if the image files have to reside in my device - all my image files are stored in Google Drive to save memory on my phone. 😊

@@RamblingRoseandDiamondPainting Yeah, I actually didn't think you would change your fantastic system for it, I asked you to make a video for more so others that don't like to organize can get an idea to keep up with their diamond painting:-) I too love to be more organized than that, I have my own book, not as much as you, but my own system:-)

To help you find out how the paintings will look like in different sizes, an aliexpress store called Fuyun Official Store shows said sizes in each posting. They are either in the pics above the painting names or in the item description below. Just a tip 😊

My favourite AliExpress Stores are EverMoment, EM Fun Store, and Kufwkey Official Store, Meian Official Store, LaoJie Yuan Official Store for the larger sizes and square drills. There's a much larger selection of good stores if you're looking for smaller sizes with round drills.

The store Ella mentioned was King Mufasa Diamond Painting Store. She said you get 2000 diamonds in the hard clear plastic round containers (that look like you could keep lip gloss in them). I hope that helps. 💖

Yes, Gems Flow is an App for Android and iOS that you can use to keep track of all your diamond paintings and drills.
