I have been working on this longbow for about 3 weeks now as I have time after school. It turned out great. I love the look of the cheery wood with the hickory. This bow is made of Bamboo, hickory, and cheery wood. I used Titebond Ultimate wood glue (green) for the glue up. Here are the specks:
Bow Length - 64"
Handle section/fade out - 8.5"
Limb length from center of the handle (see 26:18 mark at the end of the video for bow balance and tiller explanation) 32.2" even
Limb layout from center - 6" untouched 1.5" wide plus 2" before I fade to the .5" at the tips a standard pyramid style limb taper
String - Flemish twist 12 strands of Fast flite
Style of Shooting 3 under
Brace height - 6.5"
Arrow nock +.25 off shelf
Finish - 3 coats of gun oil
Arrows - carbon 600 spine 30" + 100 gr point

Hi there, greetings from Aotearoa, New Zealand, great video, very well done! and love the lookof the bow, just a few questions, what size bamboo would I need to get a strip like that? or maybe you get it as a strip, can't source bamboo like that here but I could get alength of bamboo and cut it down myself, also, can' t get hickory here but can get ash, elm and maple, I am going to have a go at that for sure, also, have you tried ea40 smooth on for glue up? could be even better than titebond for laminating, keep up the good work, I will subscribe..

Hey Mike thank you for watching and your questions and thank you also for subscribing. I have used maple before and it didn't work the best for me, it started showing "wrinkle" or "stress folds" perpendicular to the limbs in the middle of the build so I had to scrap it. I have not used ash but have seen a few bows that have turned out really nice made from it. I have used ea40 but really like to use the wood glue when I can, it is just easier. :) Thanks again for your time and your questions. I will try and get some ash and see how it turns out. thanks again

How much for a bow at 40#

Hey awesome to hear form you, I usually charge $250-$300 depending on wood selection, 400$ for fiberglass laminated bows. I am making one for someone now our of hickory and bamboo with a walnut power lamination and handle accent piece. The plans for the bow are 64" long, 40-45# @ 28"
