In this vlog, we welcome Jason Derulo & Jena Frumes to the ranch whose Belgian Malinois, Ghost, won't stop pulling on the leash.
Timecodes:
00:30 - Introduction
01:35 - The Belgian Malinois and the importance of giving a dog a job
02:42 - How to NOT use a leash properly
03:45 - What a leash should mean to a dog
04:24 - Importance of Trust, Respect, and Love
05:17 - How to Stop Dog Lunging
08:16 - Introducing the Treadmill to Ghost!
We go over the importance of exercise, knowing which tools to use to create the outcome you want, and one creative way to exercise your dogs using the treadmill!
Watch how I am able to address this issue and be sure to stay tuned for my new show premiering July 30, 2021 on National Geographic.
Remember, the most fundamental lesson is that it’s important to be aware of the state of mind of your dog and YOU!
Pay attention to your posture and how you lead your dog. What is causing leash pulling or your dog from barking too much? What are the triggers?
In the end is always…
Exercise, Discipline, Affection!
Can I Help Solve this Case?

I have a Belgian malinois. I spent 8 months watching everything I could about them before I got one. I socialised her from a very young pup and exercise her 3 - 5 times a day. Lots of training also. I think a Belgian malinois is a lifestyle rather than a pet. My dog is amazing and so smart, loyal and loving but I could imagine if I didn’t have the time or desire to put all that time in she would be mental!

Don't pick a dog based on looks but based on your life style. Hate taking long walks and can't walk your dog everyday 3 times a day? Don't take a Malinois, Husky or any dog that needs a "job", a lot of mental and physical exercise. Take a lapdog/small companion dog, or no dog at all. I hate when people go for "Cool looking dog" and have no knowledge or the right style to fit for the dog. Thank you Ceasar for educating us humans who need your help. I've been following your videos for 10 years and my dog that passed away was the most well behaved dog, praised by everyone.

Nah I agree. I have a friend that obtained her dog because the original owners, also family, thought the dog was "stupid" because "all she did was poop and pee in the house". Even though the kept it caged for OVER 15hours a day as they went on about their lives. The dog was caged even while they were home "because the dog was crazy and doesn't know how to behave" They ignored the dog, and when they did interact they complained the dog was too needy and crazy. My friend kept telling them how to get in tune to the dog and teach her...but their response was, "we don't have time for all that coddling, ITS JUST A DOG. So my friend took the dog. The dog became integrated into my friend's family and life style. The dog flourished and is now laid back and confident and HAPPY. Nowy friend says, the family members want to take the dog back. My friend was like HECK NAW, my dog. My family and you will NOT mistreat her My friend's family now has a NEW dog. The cycle is repeating for that new dog, all over again I told my friend, people treat their goldfish better than that family treats their dog

@@stevegwizzle3560 a Malinois is not a wolf, is a domesticated breed of dog that has been Fred through years a selective traits to produce a dog similar to a GSD dog. They're highly intelligent but they have to be exercised mentally and physically or they can become aggressive they are not meant to be lap dogs they're meant to be used to perform specific jobs, just like sheep dog or Shepherds, or herding breeds they need a job to do to be calm and relaxed. Malinois have replaced a lot of energy SD dogs and Rottweilers in the line of police work because they're so task driven and they have a very high level of energy I can keep going for a long. Of time without being completely exhausted they are not a wild dog though I don't know if you posted the comment in the wrong context but these dogs are not meant to just run free like a coyote or wolf that's not what they are there domesticated dog breed , like some other breeds, there are some people who should not on a Malinois, because they require a a lot of training and a lot of exercise in a lot of mental stimulation to keep them calm and relaxed and even tempered. Otherwise you're going to have a very aggressive neurotic dog on your hands

Most domesticated dogs wouldnt survive in the wild for long and most wild dogs actually are incredibly aggressive against anything, doesnt matter if its human, other dogs, hell even their own pups. Pretty obvious that your iq is lower than my 22°C room temperature. Be happy that there are people that actually want their dogs to have the best life possible, which is NOT in the wild.

@@stevegwizzle3560 Actually I would call it nature, thats how things are, kid. IF there was a lifeform more intelligent than us, that could keep us as pets, they would probably do it and we couldnt do anything about it. But there is no such lifeform known yet, right? So get off my dick and get your fake preachy morals checked. You need to accept the fact that WE are a part of nature too, but we are so intelligent that we can also influence big parts of it. Our responsibility is to do our best to give them healthy and happy lives, do you know how we are able to do that? We know them better, than they know themselves, simply because we lived with them for thousands of years.

The common sense before getting a dog is research the breed and really evaluate your lifestyle and environment before getting a dog. And at the end of the day dogs need an outlet. Most of their behaviors can be corrected with structure and exercise.

Solution: rehome the dog to a home that will actually properly engage the dog (scent work, agility, flyball, dock diving, lure coursing, hiking a few times a week, biking, running, obedience training) instead of keeping a high energy, high drive, extremely intelligent breed with people that are going to put it on a treadmill instead of actually working their dog.
@creatureinside
@creatureinside 2 жыл бұрын
They mentioned in the video that they go for hikes. I don't think we, as strangers, should judge too harshly without knowing all the facts. I personally have a VERY hyper border collie and I have a diverse, active lifestyle that he's involved in daily yet he still has constant bottled up energy (and he's 12 years old). It's complicated owning a working/active breed even when you do a lot for them, and both me and my dog would die if we were ever seperated.

You realize you’re talking about a multimillion dollar singer/dancer and preformer. I doubt he won’t put money into making sure his dog is stimulated properly and exercised properly. Add environmental management to that due to the breed having many neuroses that can cause erratic behaviors. During a routine training session with one of the city's best, trainer's mal who was extremely well trained and exercised lashed out and ripped my dog's face open. A flap 6 inches long on her cheek. He immediately recalled her and it wasn't even the worst she could have done if she were actually set on hurting my dog. Even with a pro who thinks they train and socialize (he was constantly training and socializing as she was his demo dog at work), these dogs are still unpredictable to a degree because they're very impulsive. Training can teach almost perfect impulse control, but that incident was a wakeup call for him.

I grew into a Siberian husky family and they can be on the same level, if not greater than the German Shepard line, since they’re considered “sled-dogs” and have energy for days. Although I love those dogs for childhood reasons, those dogs NEED their exercise and 30mins to an hour a day won’t cut it. Long story short, definitely get a dog catered to your environment and personality. I now just own a cat and Stafford Shire terrier and can’t be happier - although, the Stafford shire terrier could use a lil bit more energy for me lol

@@markgonzalez8828 You obviciously don´t. That malinois is stressed out of his mind. If you understand the distress signals of dogs this is very hard to watch. That dog is very close to shutting down completely, but then again that is when Milan will tell people that the dog "surrendered" (it actually will have given up at that point), where he is not wrong, but you definitely should not want to have a family member surrender (read giving up) because you are a source of such great distress. You could simply establish wanted behaviours with positive reinforcement. Why not teach the dog what you actually want? Milan sets them up for failure and then punishes them. Dick move. But then again teaching new behaviour and simply giving treats doesn´t look as spectatcular as Cowboy Milan riding in to "save the day". Which he doesn´t. Ohh and btw how is Queen Latifas dog doing?

Obedience training. 4. She would truly be a member of our family. The breeder refunded the Spay fee. We had tratta for 12 years. Best, smartest gentlest dog ever. The breeders had her parents and litter mates on site. German bloodlines. Tratta had a slight overbite, so the breeder wanted to make sure she would be spayed. I so admire Cesar. When I rescued a young GSD, I was told by a trainer that for him to be happy and well behaved, he would need a solid hour of continuous exercise at least 6 days a week. I found my local trails, and we were in the woods every day rain/snow or shine... and we were BOTH happier and healthier for it. When his hind end went at 11, I bought a harness rig and we still hit the trails every day for as long as he wanted, usually 10-15 minutes, then relaxed on the lawn the rest of the hour. (I often fell asleep from working overnights. ) He was the best behaved, super healthy dog until the end, and I'll always be grateful for that advice. If you can't dedicate a solid hour every day (in addition to the shorter bathroom breaks), don't get a high energy/ working breed, or the behavioral issues will be caused by you.

They still need to supervise him. Especially when he is tied to treadmill.

I’m more concerned for his dog being on that treadmill because he can get hurt. These people don’t seem smart enough to have this breed.

@@alexisaponte1177 I’m confused as to why a treadmill rather than a slatmill. A slatmill is self paced and 100% powered by the dog. There was no desensitization before hand aswell. Regardless the dog needs to be supervised

What an awesome Mal. I like them so much I have 2. They don't need a treadmill since they wear each other out. I don't know a more rewarding breed to have but definitely not for most people.

He actually knows the dogs instincts, like he always said dogs lived in the moment, see how fast the dog adjusted ,he teaches basically how your energy affects them. And you are right he's absolutely an amazing animal whispered. :)

God, why is it he doesn't make more videos like this one. I finally found this video by Cesar that he actually EXPLAINS what to do and how to do it! Thank you Cesar finally a VERY informative 👏 vid.

How can you think that this is informative? This is cruel, just cruel. The dog is strangled, it needs a proper training, love and something to do. Putting it on a treadmill and telling Jena that meanwhile she can put make-up on just shows how minimal his knowledge about dogs is. Should be forbidden in TV...

Based on this video I don’t see that Jayson is worried about his dog. I feel like this video about just showing Jayson that he has dogs and showing his personal life. But Cesar like always doing amazing work and he is very professional!!!
