In todays video my absolute dream demo tractor has arrived courtesy of Johnstons Farm Equipment in Longford. I've had my eye on her for a good long while and can't wait to give her a good test! Lads when I heard that it’s had no issue pulling 8t of grain on a tandem trailer, Jesus we used to pull 8 and 9 ton with a 188

I pulled home 12 ton of grain last night with a class 410 (110hp) travelling at 45km no bother at all, I also mow with a 1oft mower and plough with a 4 furrow etc. I had a big class out on demo. And it burnt way more diesel on the same jobs..

If you started with warmer grain it takes les gas to get it up to temp to dry a tip I was given many years ago

Great video the dryer is doing a good job. The new demo looks like a nice one should do lots of jobs around the farm. The barley should stay fresh now tell the price is right looks like the price is going to go high good for the farmer. Beef prices should go up also hope you have a great year!

Nice tractor, but the 5S is 4 cylinder. The 5610 had a 3 cylinder 100 hp engine and was a little pocket rocket :)

Try a length of wavin to put on the end of the drier throw the grain into the corner save you a bit of hardship 😊

If she couldn't run away with 8 ton a 130 hp+ tractor it wouldn't be much good . We used to pull 8 ton with 75hp two wheel drive tractor come on Phil fill up the trailer

You should make greedy boards for the feeder, we used to have a hopper made from wood that we bolted to the feeder auger or the dryer and used to fill it with the forklift and bucket.

yeah i was thinking the S5 were 4 pots alright. That said Sisu have had 3 pot engines in Vlatra for a few years now that can get up to about 150hp. The S5 is my dream tractor (for the type of farming I do) so i'll be interested to see how it goes with ye. Enjoy the week

We have moved up to a 6 series from a succession of 5 ‘s solely for the extra weight, we have never really had a power problem with any of the 5’s ( 5410, 5612 ,5713) but they are a bit light for some of the jobs we do and inclined to be pushed around a bit on our hilly ground here in Wicklow but great gutsy little tractors each and everyone, feck we often pulled a 3500 gallon tanker ( on flat ground) with the last two, power was never an issue.

Have a 5713s for a few years now lovely all round yard tractor super for feeding cattle but I thought the 6715s might be more suited for you phil

I’m surprised they didn’t spec that 5S with the Visio cab roof when it was going to be a demo loader tractor. Nevertheless the do look bloody smart in the retro fergi 100 series colours 👌

What you could do guys is get the piping from the back of a cement lorry that folds and swivels and attach it to the outlet and save you diesel and get back a pallet of time, move it around to even out the pile and it folds up to neatly when Eric is finished complaining 😂.

We’re our 2nd 5712s , 5612 before that When buying the 2nd one we added extras and it’s made her a super tractor,. Front suspension, bigger tyres, solid rims, integrated arm rest and led lights We’ve a 6715s and the 5712s is a better tractor for doing yard work and loader work. The 6715s is just a bit too big around a yard to do loader work, only benefit it has over the 5712s is extra reach

Interesting in seeing how the demo 5s performs for the week. Some might people might turn there noses up at my next comment but I run a claas arion 440, 120hp and it replaced an 8 year old older shape 420, we had it from new and 5500 hours with a loader and not once did it ever let me down. They are very well balanced and grip as good as anything and I've drove lots of different brands of tractors. They go up to a 470 155hp and will be a animal of a handy pocket rocket. I know your a Massy man but if you get offered a demo then it's worth a go with

I have two class 400 series tractors and they have been brilliant, the older 410 model is outstanding and both are really comfortable and reliable. I wouldn't change to anything else now.

Could a 6 inch pipe be put on the end of the grain dryer to deflect the grain near to where it's going . Maby by putting a sheet of ply wood frome the wall at an angle to the feeder you could put the lodar bucket over the wall tip it on to the ply directing it to the feeder . It needs a back wall / a V troff from the wall over the feeder

Our 1st test load we loaded across the wall but just with the way we have it setup currently we can’t but once the space is cleared it’ll be filled across the wall

I mow lawns all day and have way two much time to think . If you angle a pipe up front the in take true the wall push the grain to the pipe. Keep in mind I know next to nothing or absolutely notning about grain. But I get the feeling ye don't need to spend a lot of money for a slick set up

What is the dryer fuel, is it propane? When I was a kid it used to be diesel and stunk up the place and the grain.

I drove a new 5711m (not for long maybe 4 or 5 hours drawing bales) nice tractor in general I found but sometimes swapping between forwards and reverse I dunno is it if you move the shuttle back too far she will send herself down a range or a good few gears, quite a nuisance I found. Is that something that would happen with your older masseys or is it just with the newer ones maybe

Just a few pointers for the dryer. We dried and stored grain for years with a batch dryer like that Once the centre cone is covered you could light up the burner. Also 15.8mc is plenty to put the grain cooling at. Your wasting time bringing the moisture down lower than that.

When the tractor driving the dryer is in a shed like that I'd blow out the rad definitely daily, more if needs be. She is sucking in a good shot of dust when it's in a shed. If you see smoke for any reason coming out the side of the dryer keep the grain circulating but shut off the air if you can. If I think of anymore tips I'll pass them on. We've a 25 tonne dryer for sale if you're looking to up your output at some stage. 🤣
