A long winded look at the bag that goes pretty much everywhere with me. Other people's gear setups are really interesting to me, so I figured maybe you guys would like seeing mine.

Outstanding!!! "Brotherhood of Preppers", "A Community". And, I too was stuck in a traffic jam for 8 Hours!!! Count'm...Eight Hours on Donnar Pass, I-80 east of Reno, NV as a result of a Rock Slide. Every aspect of my bag came into play that night to include a young boy who has cut his foot trekking into the Forest to Pee. I met two types, preppers like us drinking coffee, listening to portable CB radios. And then those who had nothing at all. Not even drinking water.

I like the velcro idea on the excess straps. Thanks for the other ideas too. As you say, having this type of gear with you can be handy in everyday life, it's really not all about the end of the world as we know it.

I am with CERT and they train us to be prepared for everything, anything can happen at any moment so its best to have food and water at all times. I was really considering the single sling SITKA GEARSLINGER but after all the negative reviews on lack of proper load weight ergonomics and shoulder back pain I'm now considering the Falcon 2! I was thinking about the falcon 2 for my edc because i have a couple maxpedition bags, but i actually ended up going with the Osprey Manta 30. its got a hyration bladder which i use for biking to work and it hugs your back, has an internal frame, and a mesh coating that distributes weight accross your back without actually touching the backpack; so you can feel the breeze on your back. its got DECENT pocket organization, but i really needed an ergonomic edc and the manta 30 is beast for that

Well organized! The middle pouch you're not fully uilizing would be a good place for a FroggTogg.
@MrPutzdad
@MrPutzdad 10 жыл бұрын
I think the chances of needing a FroggTogg are slim. Packaged up nice and tight, they still take up a lot of valuable room. A spot better reserved for water bottle(s). Besides if you're not going to need that jacket if you're already wearing something in a winter situation and if it's summer, on the off chance that there is actually rain, that is what the garbage bags are for. Just my 2-cents.

Good video JD. You got some great ideas. I have been watching youtube EDC videos like crazy to pick and choose good ideas for my personal EDC, considering my routes and location. Good start, for a weapon maybe some soft armor in the water pocket. And for a spare Mag; maybe one or two G17 mags or a couple 33 round magazines. For non-lethal force some pepper spray and back up for that some Bear Spray. For back up for the cell phone use an AM/FM/WB radio with an ear bud to save on batteries. Lithium batteries store longer and like the cool weather better. Maybe an update and keep up the good work. Eyes UP and lights down, tjl Sent by Win7Pro64 w/ADSL

This was a great video, and I'm being candid. I think the only thing I'd change would be to maybe scale back on how many knives and flashlights you have (a common issue with EDCs from YT Prepping folks) and focus more on batteries, a spare mag, perhaps a method of sharpening the knives you DO carry, and possibly a roll of cordage in a serious length (like 50 ft or more). In any case, you've got another subscriber.

I'm not one of those overly safe gun people, but I agree with most of the other posters. If you are in a situation where you don't have time to put a round in the chamber you may as well just grab the knife on the outside of your bag because it would be faster anyway. Not only that but the way you put it in your bag it is pointing at everyone you walk by. Nothing would make you look like a bigger d-bag then when you take this backpack in a restaurant, set it down and fire a round off.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you carry your firearm on your person. In some situations you may not have time to open your bag and reach back to get your firearm. A glock 19 is a great IWB (Inside the Waist Band) Carry Gun. Also if you have one, stick a ruger 10/22 in the mid compartment for if shtf, you can hunt for food or fend off multiple attackers.

I didn't see a pencil. Idk I might have missed it. Too many blades. U need a couple of oxy 80s for extreme pain. You may not need the whole thing so u can always split them in 1/2 or 1/4. Get one of those long bottles that crazy glue come in and put together a sewing kit! Hit your local fabric store and get an assorted pack of needles for 2-3 dollars to start off. Use you imagination for the rest. I also pin a couple safety pins inside my bag and even keep one on my keychain. I like to get some duct tape and ill wrap a good 10ft around one of my bic lighters. You can fashion a vapour/water barrier out of bicycle inner tube for at least one of your bic lighters. CRAZY GLUE!! Small package for BIG uses!! My favourite for annoying cuts that won't close. Love your bag! Jealous of your "carry" (Canada's weak spot=shit gun laws) Keep the great videos coming! Hope my suggestions helped some! Take care.

I've heard it's hard on the extractor of a pistol to load the chamber that way. The extractor has to "jump over" the rim of the case rather than having the case slide up under the extractor from the magazine. Something to consider if you do it much. Love your vids!

The SITKA is a good pack if your load is fairly light or if you don't plan to wear it all day long. I think its a good EDC option if used right. Not for a GHB bag though if the scenario you have a GHB for is walking home.

With a super light trigger, you might want to put that thing in a holster in your bag. Bind and catch it on something and you're going to have an Accidental Discharge. Put it in a holster and then put it in your bag.

It might be better if you switch that huge compartment with the smaller one in front of with with you hats and what not so you can utilize that large one for extra clothes to take just in case. I liked your med kit I got the Max MR-1 it holds a lot and it isn't that much bigger then that Fatty you have on the Max. Excellent kit love it I like the knifes and there is a kind of a hidden compartment for your gun if you get the universal holder I think it's black you can hold you gun.

great video I like the the idea of keeping so much paracord in one bag. You have great gear in this bag. I do have one question though, I know this may sound odd but I am trying to get my wave on the outside of my Fatboy versipack so I was wondering if I could maybe have the extra molle sheath because my bag is black and a black sheath would work great with my bag. Certainly. Most armed forces members do indeed carry more than one knife, perhaps a folder, and some sort of fixed blade. Some however may not, as they will have to determine if it will be of use to them. Depending on your job you may have no need. You may not want the extra weight. While I agree it is always good to have at least one rock soled knife you can depend on, you can only better your situation by having more tools that will excel in specific areas. Also, a soldier may have different

Needs that his blade must perform. For instance, combat, or breaching tool, or basic utility purposes. For some one who is a civilian who needs a knife in the bush the chances are he may need a knife to perform in some areas where a soldier may not, like game processing, wood notching and wood work, etc. While one knife is good, there is no perfect knife. It is with many tools that we expand our options, thus making it optimal. I hope that explained a bit. I could go into it further if you
