It's TSMC not being able to handle all the production (for AMD), they have to manufacture Zen 2 chips, Zen 3, Rdna 2, Big navi and the custom APU for the PS5/XS. But Samsung is also struggling with the RTX 3000 chips. The only thing that have the most amount of stock is SSDs and RAM.

No, but defective devices should be replaced even if in high demand. That's the prosumer move. Giving money back in situations like this is far worse as the customer is less likely to get their devices. And even less likely to keep them as a customer. Plus, their store is going to get another shipment sometime in the future anyway. It's easier and better to keep existing customers and turn them into advocates. Then to constantly try to lock in new customers. Ie, reserve 1 model for Mr editor and fulfill the replacement by notifying them to pick up the new device as soon as the next shipment comes through...

The manufacturer replaces broken units not the retailer but Of course if the retailer has the item in stock they will switch it out and deal with the manufacturer themselves but when they don’t have it you either wait for it or get a refund.. It’s like this everywhere and been like that forever..

I don’t understand how he can be fine with Sony but mad at Best Buy. He blames Best Buy for selling all of their PS5 stock and not carrying spare systems in case some arrive broken, but not the actual manufacturer of the console who realistically could have a reserve stockpile and get replacement consoles out to people quickly. That makes no sense to me.

The system has a 1 year manufacturer’s defect warranty. All of the issues I’ve seen so far are manufacturing issues. Specifically, it sounds like his editor’s console had a sever voltage issue. Probably caused by the power supply or the crossover cables to the motherboard.

I think the issue is that because there is a real limited stock he has to wait a month to get a new one. If it was a normal everyday person, that person would have to most probably wait longer. I kinda blame people are buying 2 to almost 3 of each console for this. Places like Australia (where I am) has a 1 per customer rule that people still break here

This is a blessing in disguise. There is nothing really compelling at launch worth while to spend 500 bucks on this or the next Xbox (more so the new xbox). I for one am returning my Xbox Series X and am waiting a year for something more compelling to be available. Hopefully Halo Infinite will be available by then. After spending a few days with my new Xbox I just don't see much of a difference between it and my Xbox One X.

To be frank, I have been a Microsoft and Xbox fanboy for as long as I can remember. After spending a few days with my Xbox Series X, I'm quite disappointed. I'm actually becoming more intrigued by the PS5 for the new controller experience. It appears to be more of a next gen experience/feature than anything else...at least at this point. At this point my Series X(from controller, to UI, to marginally better graphics and loads time) feels too similar to my Xbox One X. I don't get that next gen vibe that I got from going from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One.. I still remember playing Ryse Son of Rome for the first time and being blown away by the graphics. I don't get that vibe from the Series X. I'm still going to wait a year to see how things play out. I never thought I'd even consider a PlayStation system, but thus is the case. Interesting.

Expecting these products not to come faulty to this degree would be a good start, though that's on Sony. We're on the eight gen already, and granted new tech has its quirks and faults at first, I feel that the companies always get a slap on the wrist and us consumers are always wrong. It's not about hurt feelings really. If you're a youtuber/similar and you want the console for review purposes and then getting it and it bricking days after, if not the same day itself, it's gonna affect you, period. There's entitlement, sure, but I for one ain't too keen on forgiving companies easily. They don't deserve it 99% of the time.

Never buy online at launch time. Amazon workers have said their supervisors told them to throw the boxes... up to 10 feet. Any damage will be covered by manufacturers warranty. They didn’t care, they just wanted to ship them all as fast as possible.

Yeah. Sony's tech support seems to be non-existent and not willing to provide customer service. I did email them about my amplifier (STR-DN1080) that I bought this summer, which randomly shuts down/switches inputs/mutes itself etc. and they never bothered to contact me... I give Sony a bit more time to read my emails, guess about two and half months is not enough. :) Should probably call them, but weird how they have a support contact form, if they don't reply to emails. I also own one of their TV's. I have no idea what they did to Android, but god damn - the unstable behavior is almost hilarious at times. Might not even respond to remote controller or if I press the physical power button on the backside of TV. Only pulling the plug helps. A cheap (literally was about half the price of my Sony) TLC TV that my friend owns, has Android too. The OS works very well on that TV. Sony's panel might doesn't even have an easily noticeable edge on color reproduction, which usually separates a more expensive TV from a cheaper one. I have no idea what I paid extra for. Or well, my amp and TV both have gotten a few software updates (that fixed none of the issues I have, but TV's stock launcher did change into a bit more modern, slower one), that TLC has never been updated. TLC's stand is not as stable as Sony's, but TLC has VESA-support too, so it's an easy and cheap fix.

They could've offered a replacement upon future restock. The money obviously wasn't the issue, he paid for the system because he wanted to have the system. Offering to replace it in the future would've been a preferred offer in that scenario.
