Glad he's ok and looks great. The last time a fish got ick I treated it with heat and a little salt. Heat is your friend to treat ick fed food with garlic. Its been a while knock on wood.

Great job! Handsome fella looks so much better now. 🤓👍 I learned the hard way to always take pictures and zoom in to check the health of our fish. How I found ich the one time we had experience with it too. Even if the pics are blurry, they’re still and not zipping their tiny butts around the tank so it’s near impossible to examine them. Thank you for sharing this not so fun experience to help us all learn from it. 🤗

Ooh no! The dreaded ick! Glad to see you got through it and he is on road to recovery.

I got another baby Oscar(5) and it came with ick..plopped the fish in my 55 gallon and about a week or 2 later...everyone had ick...so I plugged up the heater, put it on 82 and stuck a thermometer in the tank..got the tank to 80 degrees and added a few table spoons of salt...normal 50 percent water changes.. It takes a few weeks to get rid of that way.. But it works and you can treat the whole tank instead of treating 2 tanks... Plus you only use salt..also it would've worked faster had I measured out the correct amount of salt for a 55 gal....

I do it the same way salt and ich meds. Lots of vac and water changes. EBJD'S are more sensitive to ich in my experience

I hate Ich, normally just a salt and heat treatment if I catch it soon enough.

i treat it with garlic only ever had it on one fish in 16 years i been keeping fish hate using chems on my fish lol just salt and garlic bombed food lol

Hi my Jack Dempsey has ick so started with the api on Monday night and salt like you said and the api says to do another dose 48 hrs and I just did but do I need to vacuum the tank because it’s a only a 5 gal and it says to wait another 48hrs and do a 25% water change what do I do he is eating but looks a little worse and he only has a bubbler in his tank no filter and I have the heat almost up to 90 help I am waiting for the ick x to arrive
