My suggestion: Allow parents to purchase large apartment items like bed washer/dryer and plan on leaving them behind. Purchase nothing that won’t fit in your car and or whatever size uhaul trailer your car is capable of pulling.
@hersheyybar

I agree 100%! If you choose to buy larger items, you must consider how much it will cost you to move them. If you need to hire a mover, rent a truck, or other. The expense to move will outweigh your item's expense. Not worth it.

Daddy made me learn to change my oil, filters, plugs and tires before he let me get my license. At least you have gloves. You haven't lived until you dropped the plug AND his wrench into the old oil you just drained then have to fish it out with your bare hands. Those are good memories. LOL!!! Anyway, you did a great job and you've got this! You're dad did an awesome job teaching you how to do this. Wait until you get to change the tires. I can still see myself having to JUMP up and down on the tire iron because the lugs wouldn't break. Fun memories.

Nevaeh, if your lug wrench is the kind that just has one size lug on a bent bar, either ask your dad or you go purchase a 4-way lug wrench. It gives you waaay more leverage when getting off those lugs. Also, remember to ask the tire folks to NOT over-tighten your lug nuts when you have tires rotated or replaced. They use an impact wrench, and it oftentimes takes a gorilla to get those lugs off!! You need to be able to get them off in an emergency.

I am 70 and my dad was a Greyhound bus driver and he told me before I got my license, that not only did I have to pass drivers ed, but I had to pass his instructions. He taught me how to change a tire, oil, keep the battery in working order, and equip my car with emergency bag, including jumper cables. Best training I had because it came from someone that cared about me. You are very fortunate to have such caring family to help you learn these life skills. I love your first purchase. It is bright and colorful. When you are not using it for tea, it will make a beautiful vase. Adulting is hard sometimes, take it slow, you will always be an adult, enjoy life before all the hard decisions need to be made.

Love the lessons on car care!! All 3 of my children had to learn: how to drive a stick shift, change oil, tires, belts, filters and plugs before they could get their license. Today's car not so much on somethings, but they are great life skills that helped them as adults. Another option is yard/estate sales in your area for household items. I'm a 2006 too, I'm going to turn 18 in May, and I'm French. Things differ so much from France to USA, to me it's a whole different world; though, wherever we are, this period of "becoming an adult" is quite intimidating and initiatory in anyway, and I understand you because I think I share some same feelings (about what this age represents; wisdom teeth removed; social pressure, etc). I'm homeschooled too (I would even say "unschooled", and it's been 10 years I'm autodidact), I'm an artist (notably singer and musician) and everyone is asking if I'll get my bachelor degree; but actually, it's not my plan, because I think I'll simply not need it. But when you are a novice in adulthood, and Responsabilies :-b, everyone open its mouth on what you should do; it's benevolent, they worry about you, but at some point they can communicate you their anxiety: it made me quite apprehend turning 18 so soon, but after all I think it won't be such a catactysm, hahaha! Anyways, your videos makes me feel less alone and spend funny moments! Thank you, and greetings from a 2006 french girl. ;-) Salut! 🇫🇷 ღ𝒾𝓁𝔞 🪶 📜 🐿 🌸

May I suggest a Fumoto oil pan drain valve. No plug removal, it replaces the plug. Just move the lever and voila, it drains. Not as fast as with the plug pulled but WAY easier and WAY less messy. Don't forget to check/change the cabin air filter as well. Go for the parental furnished apartment. If there is something you really like and want to take with you, you can buy it cheap because it is used ;) You are a clever young lady Neveah, I expect you will do well whatever it is you choose (and you are a good musician). NEED college to make a living? Not necessarily. Maybe not what YOU want to do but we need trades people and they make good money. Where would we be if all the "could have been a carpenter/plumber/electrician" people go to college and get desk jobs instead? In a tent, in the dark, with a bucket that's where.

How does Just meats arrive, frozen or rotting? ? 🙄 Seriously thinking about it to add protein to my diet without the hassle. I can do most beef dishes and pork ribs but can dry out the best chicken. Grandfatherly advice, take what the parents will furnish in the beginning, especially furniture. You have up to 4 years to save money, decide what you really need in the beginning and grow up some. If you think 13, 16, and 18 next door to security is change, wait until you really move out and have to handle it all. You have time to adjust. Our daughter did that half way through college, got a job, moved out totally and after graduation moved from Tennessee to Salt Lake City to the corporate office. She grew up really fast, and has some emotional scars to show for it, but her mantra is... "The hard process made me the person I am today" which is a good Christian woman and mother of daughters.

Mattress stays, Bed Frame you take. Couch stays, coffee table you take, dishes you take, rugs stays ... I hope this make sense. Also, I am not sure how far your closest IKEA is but when I first moved out on my own, I bought a lot of items there and now, almost 30 years later, many of the dressers, cabinets, even chairs still exist and are getting used daily.

Keep your eye on those corners, they will escape from the bag and run away. You'll never find them. Get another bag, there are several flavors. Stack as many in your apartment as possible, in case there is a food shortage. 🙃💖🌞👑✝️😃

Kenji was such a calming force in your (and your parents) videos! While I made mild fun of his appearance on KZfaq, it was 100% for fun! You are facing the problem of equipping your apartment with the expectations you have after living with a home space equipped over decades. Give yourself many years to accumulate the stuff! And one of life's big lessons: we have _too_ _much_ _stuff_ . I have a garage full of once-precious stuff I now need to get rid of. Hopefully most of it can be recycled or donated away.

Just a couple things: There is also a filter inside the car (probably behind glove compartment) that filters the air from the outside for your heater/AC. Funny smells can come from that after a while; When shopping for initial set up, think need not want. It'll help in your budgeting; Now is when life gets bouncy, like a yo-yo. Be prepared! lol You are VERY fortunate in your upbringing. Even though we've only seen a little of that, the results you all are showing give ample examples of what you've learned. I do believe you have been blessed and pray blessing continue through your life. Be strong. lol

Nevaeh, you have a wonderful Dad who is teaching you about cars. My Dad never told me that the oil needed changing in my car. He asked me about and I was like what are you talking about. When you do not educate your children about these things, they will never know otherwise. Anyway, my first car got its first oil change at 25,000 miles. Cherish your Dad.

Neveah, I love the way you are approaching this big change in your life! I am a senior citizen now, and I can tell you that my entire life might have been very different for me if I had approached this change with a plan. (a plan is defined as something that changes the moment you contact the enemy! 🤣) Keep it up and start looking at places like Walmart (ugh) and look for some pleasantly pre-owned. My wife is big on used pianos. They are frequently very cheap because no one in that household plays it anymore or no one wants to spend the money to move one.. Look around, you might be very surprised and pleased. Just take some strong guys (plural!) and a trailer when you go pick it up. Best of luck and I am looking forward to your journey!

The transition period from childhood to adulting is an exciting and confusing time. Learning to do things for yourself i.e. maintaining, and choosing what to put into an apartment can be taxing, just embrace these experiences. You have a few months before moving so make a list of what your essentials will be and complete that list first. Then do the decorating part. All those small little details can be done after you move in. Don't rush so that you can enjoy the experience. This was another good video. Keep up the good job!

Start off slow with the bugger items. Then, decide on the smaller item as u go along. That way, u can figure out what it is that you need to have to balance it out. Take some time. Cause u start buying things and then end up not liking it cause it doesn't look right.
