Story 1: If the parents were that interested in having a relationship, they're 32 years too late. The brother was genuinely surprised by the truth and seemed understanding. The part that gets me is that the parents took one look at OP struggling at school and deemed him a “bum” not all people are good at learning how schools teaches and then are labeled “dumb” when in reality they are just as smart or more smart than others, they just need to be taught differently and/or have the right people.

S2 - if sister is really concerned, she never would have been so close to OP's husband. Infidelity happens because 2-people-engage not because it just happens.
