While I enjoy your Videos and scenery, I am a little surprised and annoyed by your Ant Oil / comments. While we all should try to be Environmentally conscious and responsible, Oil is why you have a Job after all! Comments like “Oil is Bad” When 99% of your Gear is made with Petroleum 🤔Tires , Cloth , Shoes, Sunglasses , Garmin, Go Pro , Drone your Laptop pretty much everything you mentioned is made with Petroleum.😮

Good work Duzer. My hero dude, still getting my 16/20 miles most days. Still 90 years young, looking at a left hip replacement for the replacement, yep, I've worn the original replacement out. You may wish me luck if you wish, I see the Doc tomorrow to determine if he is up to the task. Cheers!

Rryan--Loved the vid. Good to know for the future. I love the Showers Pass Rain Jacket. It's my favorite color. At some point, I'll get one, although at $295, they're insanely pricey. As for handlebar grips, have you tried the new Rev Grips Pro Series Ergonomic Grip System? My hands go numb alot, so these will be the next ones I get, even for my road bike. They're supposed to absorb vibration better. Apparently, there is a gap better the main sleeve and the bar, giving a floaty feeling. They're advertised at $121, but I've seen them around at $89.95. I've got to do something. People keep seeing me around town shaking my hands out at lights! Thought I'd just pass the this latest tech info on.

Great list Ryan! I'm interested in your long-term review of the 5.10 Trailcross shoes. I'm currently breaking in a pair for a ride on the GDMBR next summer (yay after 30 years of waiting!). One of the things that sold me on the shoes was the elastic cuff at the ankle, however mine doesn't fit as snuggly as I'd like it to. As a matter of fact it actually traps pebbles, instead of shields me against their intrusion. Maybe I just have dainty thoroughbred ankles LOL, but it's super annoying to have those gaps there. Keep up the great videos my friend! Always looking forward to your new content and adventures.

Hi! This is so random and please forgive me if you’ve already explained this somewhere - but I think you used to use a Wahoo bike computer for navigation (at least I remember that from your GDMBR video), and it looks like you’re loving your Garmin now. As a much newer bikepacker who’s been using a Wahoo so far, I’m curious what prompted the switch! Also - huge fan. Thanks so much for bringing your joy & energy into the world through your videos. I also carry a hooded puffer jacket year around. It is the hood on my quilt. More people die from Hypothermia in the Spring and summer than in the winter. For the past year I have worn Alpaca socks which I buy from my local Alpaca farmer They come in four weights from light to thick, they never smell, have a wild thermal range. warm when wet and squeeze almost dry. Thanks, for the Vid, Van. I don’t know how you do it but you carry a lot of stuff but it doesn’t look like it. I, on the other hand, carry 4 panniers plus a bag on top of my front rack and a bag on top of my rear rack - all added up that’s a total of 6 frigin’ bags. So, I’ve watched 2 different gear videos staring you, and although you don’t appear to be packing much you are carrying all the essential stuff. Also, I don’t carry any camera equipment, zero. I do however carry a little sit stool and a little sit pad ‘cause I’am a lot older than you and I really need to sit at the end of the day because I feel like I’am about to die. So, I carry the same sleeping pad that you use, cook kit ( compact and nesting), bivy bag, rain gear, light jacket, wind breaker jacket, same as you, arm sleeves and buff, same as you. You have a frame bag, some handle bar bags, several water bottles, maybe a small bag on your rear rack. You carry a lot, as I said, but it’s not bulky. I guess I need to see how you pack it.

Hello Ryan. question about travel gear. In the beginning of your Sweden adventure you had a roll =able or packable backpack that you used for air travel. I like the idea of getting one for my commuting as often times I don't want bike bags or lights to stay on the bike while it's on a bus or train rack or locked up outside when I'm commuting. Which one have you used and would you recommend it?

Hey Ryan, I noticed you have some incompatible tire plugging supplies there. The tool you have is the Dynaplug Racer. It DOES NOT use bacon strips. They have their own proprietary plugs. The bad news is that DynaPlugs are more expensive and harder to come by at shops than bacon strips and the tools that insert bacon strips. The good news is that DynaPlugs are a superior system, they just work better (more effective, faster, easier), and they are made in the USA. I'd recommend getting some spare plugs, since a single bad hole in the tire can use-up both ends of that Racer tool real quick.

I prefer flat pedals because I don't have to be in cycling shoe that I don't want to wear at workplace. Though I think you should try bar ends for flat bars someday. Thoroughly enjoy my barends because they let me ride for longer comfortably.

Always used to use an Osprey (Raptor) ive had to ditch it for biking due to a shoulder injury, its just too painful to ride wearing it. Ive taken to using a Dakine Hotlaps with a 2l bladder. Not as convenient & carries less but needs must.

@@IowaNinersFan Where we live in the northern CA foothills it’s 100 ft up per mile every ride. I was recently told by my employer that I might have to be in England during RAGBRAI, but I’m trying to be replaced. I’m actually retired so we’d really like to do the ride in 24.

You switched from furry dead cat wind muffs to foam. Does the foam work as well as the furry for wind noise mitigation? Where did you find the foam version or is that something you McGyvered? I can't seem to find them on Amazon... The furry ones sometimes get into the video, so I can see where foam might be a bit better... Thanks for the video Ryan!

I've got a mix on there. furry and foam. For the foam, I cut a foam lav cover in two pieces and glued it on.
