It might have been a joke but i think there is alot of truth to it. And i feel that brandon feels the same. They would have still been together if Brandon hadn't f***ed up and hooked up with his "friend" Jackie said no because she found out he was hooking up with his "friend" aka. Daliah. I choked up watching this. I felt so hurt for Jackie, and then, I was just as sad for Brandon. You two have such natural chemistry and friendship.
