Americans screwing over Americans happens every day and the easiest way to prevent it happening to you is to research the person you are entering into an agreement with. HOA controls what goes outside your home. It’s like they own the house. Everyone in the neighborhood have to have the similar designs of outside light fixtures, mailboxes, etc. Can’t leave your garage door open, can’t park in the curve (varies). If you want a shed in your backyard, you have to ask permission first. That’s from my experience.
