Hello there,
As a South Sudanese, it’s important for me to talk about my experience living in my home country considering that I lived most of my life away from South Sudan because it was at war with the Northern part of Sudan. After the peace agreement with the north was signed and South Sudanese chose to separate from Sudan and South Sudan became a sovereign nation, many of us from diaspora decided to go back home and develop it. This is why I created this video because I want to share my narrative and experiences while I was living in Juba, South Sudan for two years. I touch on security issues, culture and even places that I visited.
If you enjoyed watching this video, give it a big thumbs up, leave a comment to let me know what you think of it and share it. Also SUBSCRIBE and turn on the notification bell to receive a notification every time I upload a new video.

I recently travelled back in October 2021. I stayed in Juba and Rumbek. Absolutely loveeed my stay there. I was also there for independence in 2011 which was also a beautiful experience. So it was nice to return after 10 years away. I'm planning to travel again in March. Really excited. I love being home and I'm happy to see us returning. Also love your business. Thanks for sharing this video and some wonderful places to visit.

Culture: not every South Sudanese marry in the way you describe. You are just describing YOUR tribe. It would be good to hear about the different tribes that belong & live in South Sudan. Don’t also forget to mention the land grabbing, violence and strategy to take over Juba from the people who own it originally. Not every tribe OWN cows. Most South Sudanese cultivate and agriculture is huge in Juba. I wonder why you didn’t mention this? I actually think your video is good, I just think it’s one-sided. If we are truly want to talk about culture of South Sudanese, pls represent the WHOLE demography of South Sudan.

The south is South Sudan, as long as it is our country, for which we fought for, and for that we offered our comrades as martyrs in order for our country to enjoy freedom, peace and democracy. We work for peace in our country, our people deserve to be in the forefront because we have a great history, the kingdom of Kush was the one that ruled the world before the Europeans knew civilization, we are a great people with a very great history

Juba is only a City and its still not safe to live there but maybe just to visit. The whole Country is very insecure and thats why alots of south Sudanese dont want to go back to South Sudan. you will never know when something can happen and any thing can happen any time, 2013 and 2016 a major war brake out in Juba City and a lots of people were killed including foriegners. Know South Sudanese and the whole world are waiting to see when will the next major war will brake out because the Politician are not willing to make peace and put security of the intire country in place.

No need to mislead. South Sudan is not yet in Peace. Maybe unless you talk of Juba. At the same time, as long as your a Dinka in Juba, you may have privilege of that safety. Try driving around the country and bring that experience. Juba is just a capital.

James, thanks for the clarification, and I also wanted to add onto the point where she said most of the South Sudanese are pastoralists, this is not true at all since we have about 64 tribes and most of them are farmers not cattle keepers only about 4 to 5 tribes with probably the biggest population

Thanks for watching my video and also giving me your feedback. As you’re aware about the title of this video, I speak on my experience in Juba, South Sudan. You’re right, it’s my perspective and experience which I choose to share on my platform. I also made it a point to share positive information about South Sudan. There are plenty of media outlets and KZfaq channels that will share more of what you’ve commented on. The world needs to hear more positive information about our country and it’s our duty to do so.

@@afrikanconfidential8661 Thank you and I really appreciate you getting back to me. I know there are other channels however when I watched your video it just came across as though South Sudan had one culture and this is not true as you know. The positive thing to say about our culture is to show the world that the people of South Sudan are diverse. You gave one perspective, which was beautiful but at least mention that it’s one aspect of the culture. The things that divided us are many and it doesn’t help when we continue in the same way during peace times too.

In this case you can also say that it’s your perspective of how you view South Sudan. I also mentioned at the beginning of my video that it’s my perspective of our country and that’s what I chose to share. You may have a different experience which is unfortunate but I believe that our country is United and we are all working together to build it, which may be in different ways. I appreciate your feedback once again and will be happy to share more videos which will incorporate more information about South Sudan.
