What's happening, Sian? I'm 26, got diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder then got referred to an ADHD specialist. Currently on the 54mg ones. I'm finding that I'm becoming really tolerant to Xaggitin and really quickly. I took the 18's first and it lifted a bit of the brain fog for a few hours, then nothing the next day. I stuck that out for the week before doing the 27's and nothing on the 27's either. Done 36's after another week and I felt like I took the 18 for the first time, then the next day - nothing. Have you tried any other medication for it or do you just use the Xaggitin for now?

Hello, I'd probably say I think we experience Xaggitin in a similar way. It used to have a greater effect and now it's pretty minimal even if I take the dose ... sorry mid-sentance, just realised I have no idea what dose I'm on I just judge it by how many tablets 😅 I've done a bit of bouncing doses and times around but recently tried my hardest to stick to taking 3 tablets a day because I feel like it pays off I've just adjusted to how it makes me feel. I'd rather not be flippant and think it's not working and then realise after a week I've not showered or something simple haha. I've only tried Xaggitin so far. For me, the lack of appetite is too extreme for me to switch. If I lost anymore weight it would really start to become a problem and I'm not willing to be unhealthy in order to fit into this neurotypical world. 😌

Great video during the talks with psychiatryUK are you allowed to recommend them which medication you might want to choose or do they decide by themselves and I was under the impression in England you have to go to a pharmacy to get medication do they now deliver to your house ?

Thank you. Yeah I think he did give me the opportunity to give an opinion on medication but I didn’t really have any preferences. For me he suggested a long acting stimulant and I feel like it’s worth taking their professional opinion on that because for me I couldn’t imagine a short acting one working as well for me. But that could be the default they start everyone on I’m not sure. Yeah me too! But it’s been delivered twice to my house and I’ve not paid any charges for it yet. So hopefully that’s a perk and I won’t be hit with a bill for private meds next day delivery haha.

Iv just started xaggitin yesterday, I took my first one at 10:30am, felt ok for first 6 hours, then crashed in mood. But hardly slept. Today is day 2 and Iv felt exhausted, and depressed all day. I haven’t had a good day today. I think yesterday I had drank coffee. Only had 1 coffee and 1 tea today. So hoping tomorrow’s a better day. I feel like I will sleep tonight. I also got diagnosed by PUK. Have you had days where you have felt low and depressed? Thanks for your video ❤️

Hey, thanks for reaching out and sharing your experience. How are you getting on with Xaggitin now? That all sounds very familiar and nothing to worry about. I really recommend keeping a mini diary at the early stage though to track your food, drink, sleep hours & mood. It’ll help you spot what can influence a good day or a bad day. I definitely did go through a depressive stage after starting, I’d say it lasted around 4-6 weeks. But I strongly believe mine was heavily influenced by a really stressful time at work, so try to consider everything and keep reminding yourself this will pass. Sending lots of love 💗

Hi, I've just started on Xaggitin XL. I've not noticed much difference other than making me a bit spaced out in the afternoon. I usually take one pill around 9am and I'm feeling sleepy by 3 and a bit spaced out by 6. Will see what the Doc says on day 7.

Hey, hope you've started to see more of a difference! I imagine you were told to increase your dose? @@SianKatie Hi, I have gone up to 36mg and that was great. I've been less tired during the day and I've been sleeping significantly better at night. I don't think I've ever slept as well as I'm waking up not tired and able to just get out of bed. I've just increased my dose once more to 54mg (36 in the morning and 18 around midday) 1st day was ok, but today I woke up with a headache and it progressed to a lingering migrane. hopefully that will be a one off but if not, I will try taking the full dose in the morning or going back to 36. Im definitely benefitting from the meds, its just hit or miss with how effective they are day to day.

Hi, I've just been diagnosed for the same treatment and reason. Did you use physchaitryUK? I hear its a 6 month wait until the nurse can start you
@SianKatie
@SianKatie 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, congratulations on your diagnosis. Yes I did, it depends which Psychiatrist you pick, some of them are authorised to prescribe medication too. It may have been changed since I got diagnosed just because of the waiting list unfortunately.
@ChrisSims89
@ChrisSims89 2 жыл бұрын
I was diagnosed about 6 months ago and the wait with Psychiatry UK was around 11-13 weeks at the time. It varies depending on how many patients they have. I actually looked to pay privately in the hope that it would speed up the process but was informed that as they take on a lot of NHS patient overflow, paying for a private assessment (£1,200) wouldn't speed up the process at all. You then go through a "titration" process where the dosage is increased over time to assess what your body can handle and what works best for you as everyone is different. During this time you have to submit weekly readings for blood pressure, weight, and pulse to better allow them to establish what effect the medication is having on you. That being said, once that process has started I found the service to be relatively good overall. The online portal allows you to speak directly to the nurse dealing with your case as well as the GP overseeing the process of getting you used to the medication. Once this is all completed your file gets handed back to your local GP and then ordering repeat prescriptions of the medication is really easy. The one gripe I have is that all the while Psychiatry UK are dealing with your case, prescriptions are issued in the post (at least they were for me) which can be rather frustrating when you have little medication left and are relying on Royal Mail to deliver the prescription quickly.

@@ChrisSims89 appreciate the detail I have been told 6 months now that I have spoken to to doctor. the NHS is paying. I was lucky to get a cancellation and speak to a doctor within 6 weeks, otherwise the wait was months. Glad it's a step forward but I have so much going on this year that I really need the focus. Attention, focus and drive are severly lacking. Has the medication made a dramatic improvement to your life? Do other notice a change in you? I'm concerned a may become too wired but that part of finding the right dose I guess.
@ChrisSims89
@ChrisSims89 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jay-xr3sb Unfortunately you really are at the mercy of the organisation and how busy they are but being on the waiting list is a step in the right direction and certainly more positive than not starting the process at all yet. I've seen a big difference, unfortunately with me I think the difference is more noticeable on days I don't take the medication now. Day's I do take it bring me clarity and the ability to process things in order, methodically, without feeling like I'm drowning. On days that I don't (usually at the weekend if I want to take a break) those feelings of lack of focus or calm are very quickly present again, which only confirms to me that the medication is doing its job. I wouldn't concern yourself too much regarding the titration process and the side effects of finding the right dosage. I of course can only speak from my own experience, but the dosage is incremented in such a way that if there are side effects, they wont be drastic, just enough to understand that maybe it's too much. The good thing is that this medication, while being slow releasing, once out of your system, is gone. Should you during your process find that on that day you're feeling worse for it, the effects will wear off over a 10 - 12 hour period and then you can choose to take less the following day to compare how you feel. I certainly don't think it'll be the case that you take X amount and find yourself in serious danger or being extremely "wired".

Is Xaggitin new? I'm on concerta. It doesn't work on the dosage that I'm on. But, I accidently double dosed one day, which made me realize that it does work on a higher dosage...I think. hard to tell.

Hey, I’m not sure tbh! I know some do the same job just a different brand name but not sure which ones which. I know from people I’ve spoken to that a lot of people don’t get on well with Xaggitin which I found surprising because I started fine with it. I think I did have side effects but I’m used to depressive episodes and migraines so it didn’t shock me 😵‍💫 dosage is a tricky one too. Mine is definitely not high enough but I’ve given myself anxiety about taking more and because I miss days out I don’t want to be on such a high dose and then drop so much. It’s all a minefield.

Stick with it! Once you push through you'll find a good balance. Try and just give yourself extra sleep, extra self-care in the meantime. I really noticed the productivity at first, if anything I notice that a bit less. Or maybe I'm just recognising the peaks and troughs of my attention.

Hello, I usually get 3/4 bottles with 34 tablets each in them. The dose and amount of bottles went up each time I placed an order. But I guess it's worth considering sometimes I skip a day or two and sometimes I take only 2 tablets if it's passed a certain time. Totally agree with you but I thought as it was a controlled substance they wouldn’t just give you x amount and allow you to up your own dose. I’ve had such a headache with the whole process. I’ve got control by having the 56mg the others felt placebo in comparison but as I said I was on I very high dose growing up so I guess it’s higher tolerance. Did they give you any other medication options? I’ve been reading about Adoral do you or anyone else have any experience with the differences

I know!! 👀 tbh I feel like I’ve got some kind of weird deal, I got prescribed meds the same day as diagnosis, the CCG took over straight away so I’ve never paid and then I’ve just been let loose with bottles and bottles of 18mg Xag 😂 I feel like Spider-Man - with great power comes great responsibility 😅 they didn’t give me any other options no, and I’ve not asked to try anything else because I feel I got off lightly with the side effects. @SianKatie
@SianKatie 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, so I haven't paid because I contacted my GP and asked them to write a letter to my local CCG before booking a private assessment asking if they'd fund my assessment and treatment through Right To Choose. I never heard anything back and so by time I had my assessment and started titration, around 3 months after asking to be referred, they must have accepted so it was perfect timing and I was just very fortunate. But if you haven't done that process with your GP before booking private and being diagnosed you would have to pay for the prescriptions and I think they can be around £80 for 3 months worth
