I'm so glad you shared this. I went there maybe two years ago and I've experienced the same thing. They have a script for everything, and they run a pyramid business. They hired everyone that went to the interview , not to sound judgmental but there was an individual dresses like he was going to the beach . I did love the demonstration and their product, but nobody I knew would pay that much money for a set of knives.

The training is Extremely detailed and teaches you exactly how to sell the stuff. You do friends and family demos for like a week, and after that, you get into real people and start making real money. So easy. Perfect student job.

Let me clear things up: Everyone currently in charge of the company started as a sales rep selling knives, they all started from the bottom, if they can do it, so can I, that's my mindset, been working there for a month and I'm $8,711 in sales, which isn't great but it ain't bad either but the best thing of it all is that I am now on track to open my own Vector office in April/May, getting ready to make 6 figures in a few months ;) this company is not like any other company out there, they pay you what you're worth, you get paid based on your efforts, not by hour like every other crappy job out there does, leaving aside the fact that part time jobs make you trade your most valuable thing about you: your time, for money; they put a cap on how much money you can make because there are only a certain amount of hours you can work, so your paycheck has that cap; on the other hand, Vector allows you to get paid as much as you want, if you want to make a comma paycheck, you can do it, is it guaranteed? No, BUT the opportunity is there. Hopefully this clears the air

It's funny. I got a call from Vector Marketing last month to set up an interview. I figured "Got nothing better to do", so I went in. They asked me what I wanted out of a job and I simply told them that I wanted a job that didn't require me to do a lot. I didn't get the job, which is probably a first, and I take pride in that. I got another call today from CutCo wanting to set up an interview. CutCo is a great product, I just don't see many people willing to spend $1150 on a set of kitchen knives...unless you're a chef or someone who likes to brag about how expensive their stuff is.

I'm so glad I came across this video. I currently work for Cutco and I feel absolutely miserable there. The managers are like vultures. They never leave you alone, are constantly in your ear, and expect your entire life to revolve around Cutco as they pretty much try to force you into going into all these meetings and conferences (including the SC2/SC3) they have. I haven't even received a paycheck yet! The only reason I'm still there is because I couldn't find work anywhere else and am hoping to get a small amount of cash at best before dropping out

As a high school student my first job was as a receptionist at Cutco. I tried to like it, I really did, but the experience has kind of scarred me and I hated working there. I felt dishonest and I hated the way calling people was set up and I knew it was wrong but I kept pushing it in the back of my mind. I'm glad I don't work there anymore, I can honestly say working there has helped me decide that I never want to have a job in sales or just sit at a desk job, so I guess that's good. I know what I don't want now :)

Are you a troll from Vector Marketing here to scour and try to "respond to" people exposing your scam? I guess that you must be very good at harassing friends and relatives into letting you pester them for an hour with sleazy marketing tactics and shit products. If some wants to blow $300 on knives, they can go to Williams Sonoma and have an enjoyable experience purchasing a professional quality product rather than having a pimply sweaty teenager desperately pushing some shit on them, trying to prove themselves as a "go getter" for a company that has rats running around its "offices". I hope your company folds over and is made bankrupt. Fuck you.
@j.h.miretskay3430

How are you "expanding your comfort zone"? Is it by pestering friends of friends of friends into allowing you to come into their homes to sell shit quality knives that no serious chef would ever touch? And if you're idea of "making friends" is by sitting in for 7 hour sales pitches in a rat infested Vector Marketing office, you are a delusional idiot who needs to get a life.

I agree with you about the interview process. I remember attending one in Savannah GA. I went because I was invited by 2 friends who were also invited and had added my name to a list of contacts for the company. I was curious to see what they sold because I had never heard of "Vector Marketing". There were about 20 other applicants there, we were shown the product line and were pitched. We were told to sell knives to "a list of friends and family" (in my opinion..such a silly idea). The hiring manager began bringing in 3 people at a time into a private interview session after completing a 1-2+ hour info session. Myself and 2 friends were the 2nd group to sit with her. She told us that according to the information we shared with them that we are the 2nd group she really liked and would like to hire us today. Then asked us Why we wanted to be apart of the team and how would we make the team better. Afterwards, she pulled out 3 forms where we would sign a contract, agreeing to pay for the starter kit and attend trainings. I was the only one out of the 3 to decline right on the spot, and she started asking me direct/weird questions on why i didn't want to work with them. I remained professional by telling her it just wasn't for me, (honestly guys, I can't sell products that i'm not passionate about.) But she insisted on asking questions like..."Well why did you come here and waste X amount of hours to turn down this opportunity"...she said something like that. It got uncomfortable really quick Lol, maybe because the interview wasn't private (2 other applicants in the room sitting and looking at me like.."Dude, i think you just pissed her off.") I left and never looked back. My 2 friends signed the forms, but never stuck with the Vector Marketing opportunity. Whenever I meet ppl on Facebook who have experience with Vector, I got mixed reviews about the company, but for the most part, many people left because the Company methods of Training were useless. If you can't sale, don't partner with Vector Marketing. If you can sale, give it a shot. Nice video review Life of Chelsey very honest.

Khiry Graham Thank you very much for your comment. It means a lot that someone else understands where I'm coming from when I made this video. Everyone thinks I'm on here to bash this company or stop them from working for them. Although I'm not gonna lie, I'm not the biggest fan of Vector marketing because I feel they have some shady business practices, I'm just here to warn people about what's ahead. I completely agree with your statement that if you think you can sell knives and have people you know willing to buy then do it! The few family members that did buy were very happy with the knives that they bought (only after time and use proved that they had bought a quality product). The one who got screwed out of the deal was me, I made little to no money the time I worked for them and walked away feeling like I was a fool for even being lured into working for such a corrupt corporation.

My experience has been very different from this. You get payed base pay or commission which ever is higher. The interview possess does happen quickly, and maybe they do take a lot of people. However, a lot of people aren't comfortable with sales or aren't committed and leave. This model of sales doesn't work for everyone but that doesn't mean its a scam. If something isn't what you expect you can choose to adapt or leave, but why tarnish the reputation of a company just because of that? Not once did I feel manipulated. I too thought it paid by the hour at first. But, when it became clear that it was per appointment or commission I had to decide if I was okay with that. Some people are some aren't and there is nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for this video. Confirmed some of my own suspicions. One of the things they told me when I spoke to them on the phone the first time was that I would only be dealing with people who had already expressed an interest in the knives. So I was thinking it was going to be with people who had contacted the company and wanted a representative to show them the knives. Then I show up for the first interview and find out that I have to find the people and set up all the appointments. Once you factor in all the time taken to set up appointments and travel to them, especially if you don't know people in the immediate area, you aren't even making minimum wage (at least in the area I live). I do believe it's a job that if you are willing and able to start slow you can make a good profit but the time just doesn't seem worth it to me. Plus working for a company that deceives you right off the bat doesn't seem good either.

I was in desperate need for a job and I just so happened to get a letter in the mail from Vector Marketing; when I read it, it seemed like something for me. I was enticed by the pay (which is based on how many appointments you do), flexible hours (not completely true, you have to go to the office for a meeting once a week) and just because I was desperate for a job. What you said was true. I even got an interview the day after I called. For me, the interview was not a group interview. It was more like a sales pitch. The training is definitely unpaid. The first day consists of going over this sales script and how to present the products; as well as coming up with a list of people you think would be interested (names & phone numbers). Day 2 was basically more reading from the script and setting up appointments from the list you made. Day 3 is basically the same as the first two days; they also give you your "demo kits" here. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay the security deposit. After you finish your appointments; you have to call the manager and tell them how you did so they can help you. You are also encouraged to go to these conferences and as if unpaid training was bad enough; they make you pay out of your own pocket to go. They also make you go to the office for an office meeting where sales representatives talk about how many sales they made. They also make you do a "Phone Jam" at the office which is basically one step away from cold-calling and they said no cold-calling; they are able to get away with cold-calling because these people are not complete strangers. They encourage you to call a lot of people as well. What's worse is that there are no office phones for you to use, you have to use your own cell phone. You're pretty much screwed if your phone doesn't have a plan for unlimited minutes. All that time you spend in the office: like the training is unpaid. I ended up quitting because I figured that not getting reimbursed for gas used for going to and from appointments and the office is not worth it and because I could have made more working at my old job. I would not recommend this job to anyone else. Sorry for long comment!

I had the EXACT same experience as you last summer except I went to the 1st day of training and got a phone call that I was "referred by a friend" instead of getting a letter in the mail. And when I say exact, I mean all the way down to when you got to the interview and there was like only one chair left to sit on in the room full of people! I'm so upset I wasted my time even attempting to give it a shot after the red flags. The training was just even worse. Sitting there for hours, hearing the same things from the presentation at the "interview," practicing the sales pitch, on top of not being fed or paid. Plus they make you give them even more numbers of people who can be called or used as "referrals" (about 200) in your training booklet for a "contest." I was fed up from the get-go, I didn't even bother writing any names to give them more customers and I didn't go back to training. They're just so misleading and shady about the whole process. It's not necessarily a scam, but it's definitely for everyone and does not seem worth it if you're not interested in the marketing business as a future profession.

well thank you so much for commenting, its a shame you had to go through the same thing but I'm glad someone else understands what it's like and that it really is a waste of time. I also agree that it isn't a scam but it's definitely not a company you want to work for. I hope you found better employment elsewhere and again thank you for taking the time to comment and help whoever else is on the fence about going to the interview (:

I spent six hours today for one of training for Vector.Marketing and wanted to do my research about the company. So very happy for your input, it is a very short term way to make money if you have a negative attitude going into any sales job. Some people are just not suited to be in the world of sales. Pro and Cons of doing what the manager sent home as my homework tonight are as follows: make a list of 150 people I personally know that money is expendable within their lifestyle, they are required to be over 30 years of age, homeowners, and more importantly a source of income-employment to go into debt when I pitch pricey packages at the demo's end. As a person that is exactly what Vector asks of their target sales persons to reach out and get into my home so I will be put on the spot to invest my hard earned money. I am just a bit tired of having to buy more fundraising for my overflowing cabinets and closets to contain, keep adding to my monthly debt level on my credit cards or giving access to my banking account so places that in reality a hefty portion of this price is marked up to then offer it as a 5-month, interest-free investment option...... I do not think I want to ask anyone to pay an over inflated price for what I also found being sold by individuals on eBay at 1/3 of my offering in their kitchen.

Thanks for this video! I got a call a couple hours ago from a lady at Vector Marketing and I got the EXACT spill you just mentioned. She pretended to be interested in my schooling, asking me what I wanted to do afterwards, etc. She even pretended that someone JUST cancelled and asked me to interview in like four hours. My guess is that they don't want you researching their scam.

I am so glad I was able to actually do my research about this job. It's so funny that while I was watching the video, it felt like you were speaking directly to me. I definitely can relate to the part about the company moving so fast because right after logging onto the website and applying for an interview, I got more than one email from the company and text messages right after. Also, I wanna say that it makes so much sense that they would target the high school graduates and college students because we are indeed very naive and vulnerable. I recently graduated high school and am so desperate for a job lol. Actually I have scheduled an appointment next Saturday with Vector, but after doing my research I am definitely reconsidering this job. I was on the phone debating with my uncle and I was getting so angry because he was the judging the company and had no background on what they do and he automatically knew it was a scam because I myself couldn't even answer all his questions about the job. But to sum everything up, I just want to say thank you so much for posting your opinion on this company. I know now not to be so naive when it comes to job searching! God Bless!

The whole time I was there, I loved it. I promise you will see how valuable , informative and priceless the information you will learn. I worked at over 30 companies and this company is the best strategic experience I have ever received. Not to mention the perks. They have scholarships, and built resumes you can take with you your whole life. Also the way you get promoted and the ranks and price of pay ranges between how much you sell. 80 percent of people say it's a scam. Hell no it isn't. Take a look at the people who slander the company. They are very negative people with zero drive. I know millionaires that focus on the exact same structure with proof to show. Once you find your gift of gab. How to lock down the sales. I personally promise you will be thrilled. Buy the kit if they still dont offer it free. The quality is really worth it. I'm a chef for over 20 years in the kitchen. And these knives will definitely take on 2000k wustoff and henckels. I promise. Stick with the money makers and people who know how to get it the door and learn the talk. Then you will walk the walk. I'm from the streets and grew up around rich people fortunately and have the best of both worlds. Meaning I been around to see alot of businesses from good and bad. This company is amazing. The training you will get is priceless. People pay thousands of dollars and take seminars to learn what they hand to you at Vector Marketing. Stick with the people who dress nice and are positive. I promise on my life this is legit. They want you to practice with family because you will be relaxed to start learning. Also referrals are how million dollar companies are worked. Also. Trick is you can sell at any price you want. The lower you sell in price. The less commission you will make. So you can sell you family the best knives at the best price. Even cheaper than what they advertise. But once you learn the rates and commissions and sell. You will receive a check for the same amount as promised the next week. No bs. The customer has to make that first payment though. That's it. I went to the mens warehouse today and I bought 1600$ for 2 suits and paid 629 with tax after the 60% off on one suit and 249$ for a 750 suit that they marked down. I'm seriously going back. Also to verify I can email or text you the receipt with today's date. Be serious and put your all into it. You will get what you put into it. Hope this helps. Beware of the haters and negative people. That's cancer you dont need. Stick with the top notch players serious about making money. When you look good in a suit , everyone looks at you differently and you feel amazing like your on top of the world. You will become a more attractive sexier man or woman to everyone on this planet. Love you man and go for it. Trust me brother.

As far as service.... I've heard the horror stories, but have yet to need to use it. As for complaints about them as an employer, it's a low end sales job....... what did you expect? I sold these knives for a couple months 10 years ago. Made decent money for the amount of time I put in (appointments). It's a sales job and commission based so take that into consideration when trying for the job. With that said, I still have the knives I demo-ed and absolutely think they are the best and would recommend anyone wishing to get the knives for cheap to "take the job" and leave if you don't think it's for you 😂

It's so crazy and sad how many of us have been duped by this company. We literally have the same or very similar stories of how we got involved with Vector Marketing. I was duped six years ago right after I graduated high school. I was only 17 years old and keep in mind Vector Marketing claims that we have to be 18 or older yet many people started getting these offers Junior/Senior year in high school not even 18 years old. I did the group interview, did the one on one interviewed and was hired on the spot. The group of people I went with and a few of my friends had to pay for our 5 day training $30 per day 8am to 5pm. Then we had to pay over $200 for our test kit. It was just a waste of money and time many of us could not afford in the first place. I learned my lesson and I have been making a video discussing this mess for 6 years trying to warn others about this mess.

Dante Miller It's one of those things where you have to decide whether it's worth it or not. If you think you can make enough sales to where you make more than the base pay and really start making money then do it! If not then don't waste anymore time because the point you bring up is very true, a lot of your own money goes into it and if its not worth the paycheck then find another job! I think you need to make more demos. even if you don't make a sale you get paid to show up at demos if you make lets say $15 a demo and do 9 demos a day (not making a single sale) for only 7 days you'll have $1,000 in one week a demo takes about 45 minutes so that's pretty much full time and if you did that every day for one month that means $4,000 for a month

When my cousin and I discussed about this we came to the same conclusion, it’s just work you take it or you don’t, they are very open ended from real research and not based on opinion. That was when I realized I was going to quit, I never came in again. During my training everyone was constantly reminded of the 3 people who made so much money but compared to the amount of people that work there..... I also got a letter in the mail today saying how I was reminded constantly to return my kit but I was not contacted once. I had a similar experience with Cutco as well. I found their ad online, but they didn't say who or what they were. Didn't know I was going to be selling cutlery. I got past the training days which were about 8 hours each day. The worst part was when they had us cold calling. They wanted us to cold call our friends and family in the local area. I had just moved to Minnesota so I didn't ANYONE. The manager said to just make some calls. So I had to call friends in different states who I already know wouldn't be interested in overpriced knives. They even had us come in early Saturday morning around 7am to cold call. I was in shock. I would not want to be woken up on a Saturday morning to hear my friend talk about knives. A couple of my friends stopped talking on the phone with me after that afraid I was going to spew out another sales script. Anyway, the manager harassed me every morning around 7am asking how much I sold. Like every day. I came in to tell her to her face that I was quitting. She started raising her voice at me and bad mouthed me about it affecting my future as a elementary school teacher. (at the time, I was in college for that) I just dropped the bag of knives and walked out.

Fabian Kohen You could have kept them and resold them to recoup some of your lost money. I remember it only being a $150.00 deposit that they would keep about 7 or 8 years ago and I resold almost all of them and made more than that back. Not defending the company at all, but at least that's somewhat worth doing just to spite the idiots that would defend them.

I swear I had the same experience! When I first got there it looked like the business was closed. Then I went inside the business and YES it did look a little run-down, but I ignored that at first. I was under the impression that I was going to get $12.50 an hour. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I even did this application online. The hiring manager was nice, but she did talk a bit fast and i could barely keep up. At this point I feel used and naive. Like you said Chelsey she demonstrated the penny cutting, which I can say was impressive. The receptionist told us there was no talking at one point. I'm so glad I decided to SEE some reviews about it online b/c it sounded too good to be true! AND IT IS.

If you're selling a product that's easy to sell it obviously doesn't take much skill. Hence why they give college students the opportunity to learn a little about business. The problems you had like with the receptionist and with the rushed feeling just depends on your office. The hardest thing for the company is relating to the people you want to hire. It's all about people skills and I'm sorry they didn't help you feel comfortable enough, but they're also human and aren't perfect. Starting is scary and sales move slow but once you give it your best effort it's very rewarding. The product is good and people will love it no doubt so enjoy the opportunity to grow and make relationships wih people you know. And the base pay thing is nothing. I got base pay my first 3 demos then I sold within the next 10 demos and made a little more than my base pay then once I got comfortable after about 5 more I started selling about 600 each presentation. If you put in a little actual work you go a long way. I'm just sorry you didn't have a good enough experience to keep on going, but maybe someone who reads this will be confident enough to stay with vector.

To be completely honest, the biggest thing that upsets me about this company is the dishonesty.. making people think they are going to be paid $14.50 an hour, not telling people that it's a group interview and that you might spend 4 hours in a place you've never been before with a bunch of people you don't know, they don't even tell you that you're going to be working with knives until the second interview! I believe there is a reason they are so shady and hide so much and that is to lure people in and gain access to their family and friends money for just a short amount of time until you can't sell their knives anymore. That is vector in a nutshell and I stand by my decision to never walk into a vector marketing office again, as it is all just a big waste of time.

Yeah I feel you on that but if you look past that it really is a great company with an incredible opportunity to grow. If you told everyone youd be selling thousands of dollars worth of knives the excuses would pour in and no one would do it. They have to be a little ambiguous but the experience is still well worth it.

toks619 Well I appreciate your comments, it is is nice hearing from someone who works for vector who actually sounds educated. I personally am not a fan of the company but I put this video out so that people can be warned about it. But as I said in my update video, if vector is what you want to work for then do it. All I'm saying is be warned of their business practices and all in all they do sell good knives, I was impressed with them myself. But thanks for being polite about your comments, even though we didn't agree. I wish more people were like that.

Thanks for being so genuine. It's nice to talk to someone who is actually civil and not too wrapped up in themselves to hear an opinion. Feel free to inbox me. Best of luck to you!

They don’t display an hour. They display appt. honestly depends how much time you wanna put in to it. They give you 20 bucks per appt and getting appointments and references is not hard unless you don’t know much people. Now the appt pay does suck but the appt. only take like 45 minutes to complete and when your are making %25 percent commission it’s a pretty decent part time job. You also have to have good people skills. Honestly just put effort and time and they’ll pay you decent. I’m only planning to work for about 4-5 months to get work experience. (This is not a full time job remember that.) there times are also so flexible I didn’t work for like a whole week and still got a 200 dollar paycheck from about 1 full day of schedules. People who say this is a scam didn’t give it a shot 😂 or just don’t want to put time into it they prefer working a reg job. I’m not judging though all I’m tryna say is that this company is not a scam they give you what they say and if you misinterpret something well... then you get videos like this 😂

Yess dude fr. Not only that but I've had other legitimate jobs where I got 2 interviews in a day and got hired on the spot. I also would think they'd hire a lot of people just to see who will stick around and do good and who will just drop out. It seems to me like they just wanna give everyone a shot and weed out the ones with no work ethic.

I started with Vector at the end of May as a second job. it is definitely true that almost everything is scripted, it's part of their program, and it is why they are so successful at what they do. even the reps follow scripts when it comes to calling to schedule their own appointments and even during the presentations. Cutco was formed by a family in 1949 and developed Vector to start doing all their marketing in 1981 when they couldn't keep up with the business growing. these companies have had the same basic platform for the program for 65 years... it works, and that's why it is continuously used and followed. the office I work out of is ranked 10 out of 400+ offices nationally, and although they persistently say this isn't a high-pressured job, it definitely is. the managers push you to work hard, especially mine. probably why we do so well. overall I have loved this job, it's a ton of fun, but it truly isn't for everyone. it's A LOT of work and time-consuming. right now I am struggling with few people actually answering their phones when I call. I've never had a week getting base pay, because if I did appointments that week then my commissions were always higher. it does sound like the office you applied at were a bit unorganized and scatter brained, haha. hope you found a job that's more fitting for you!

this is exactly what happened to me, except i got a letter through the mail and my 2 interviews were done one-on-one. I got interviewed twice, hired, and began training in less than 2 hours. I don't know why that didn't make me leave that office right away. An hour into the training I realized how sketchy this was and weird. I was there for 10 hours! The training was awful. No food or water or breaks! I felt so dumb afterwards, I should've just left when I saw this wasn't how normal job interviews went. They didn't even ask to see any form of identification! That on its own was a red flag for me. Also, this kid next tome was a junior in high school and he signed a contract with social(like I did) buuuut they changed his birth year so that it would say he was 18. Like isn't that illegal? I worry for that kid, but he seemed so convinced. I wish i had been more informed about the whole Vector scam and looked into it. I was just desperate for a job. I didn't go back for the second training(the next day which is today for me). It was super fishy and sketchy, don't do it or sign a contract like I did.
