Hi Chrissie, love, love, love your fabric book. LOve this and your style. It's so shabby with the old laces and trims. It's a great idea to use fabric napkins to made a book. You are so creative and your ideas are amazing. Thanks for sharing and inspirations. Big hugs Beate

Thanks to Kimi for sharing on G+ or I wouldn't have seen this?! I will be totally honest, I am not a sew-ist (or whatever the right word is) & not really into Shabby Chic, However when I saw your pic & because Kimi put a big WOW (lol), thought I would go outside of "my comfort zone" & watch. So glad I did! Your fabric book is beautiful! Vintage, textural - I love your felt flowers (how?) & the gorgeous images. The little pops of colour are just right to compliment the images. As to the sentiments, they are all words we 'should' live by & what you said about not being in it as a competition but because you enjoyed the process is spot on. I think we all get caught up in the whole 'comparing ourselves' etc thing & it's so not what we do our crafting for (at least not for me, she says sternly to herself, lol). Thank you for sharing your creation that I wouldn't begin to know how to do or have the patience for. Also, thank you for reminding me why I do creative things. Very very clever & as for a use? Does it need one? It will be a wonderful heir loom & something to admire!!

It's lovely, very clever how you put it together. I am making one now and I am sewing each decorated page separately and then sewing them into the book. I stitched the blank pages in accordion style and made it look like a finished book and I add each decorated page as I get them done. (Clear as mud as you say?) No pressure that way. I used a pink Victorian novel for the cover. Sometimes I just look through the finished pages and an idea comes to me for another one.

Thank you. I made this one a long time ago and wouldn't do it the same way now. I understand what you mean with the accordion style. Are you doing the Roxys Journal of Stitchery? Rachel is doing her book in the accordion and Sarah is doing hers in individual pages. I am taking part in the challenge too and decided to do mine the way Sarah is doing hers.

I absolutely adore your fabric lace book. It's one of my favorites if not my #1 favorite book. I love the simplicity of it & all the details, including all of your fabric words & quotes. Can you please tell me how you did your spine & pages attaching to spine? Did you use the cardboard method or just fabric with felt sandwiched in? I want my book to open just like yours & I plan on creating a layout with two pages as well so I couldn't use the folding binding method. Anyways thank you for sharing your lovely book. I love it! Thank you in advance for any tips on the binding.
@chrissiecrosser
@chrissiecrosser 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Tawnya Thank you for your lovely comments on my fabric book. For the spine...well my method must be the simplest of all methods as I just machine stitched the pages together down the middle. I actually did two rows of machine stitching about half an inch apart to create its own 'self spine' I guess you could say. I then glued some seam binding down the centre ( you can see that in the video ) then on the outside of the book I glued wide lace over the spine. I try not to use glue as far as possible but to avoid stitching lines where I didn't want them I had to for these two areas. Good luck with your book and I hope you can show it on YT when you finish it. Let me know if you do as I would love to see it. Chrissie :)

This is so lovely and sounds like one of the easier ways to make a fabric book. Did you sew one napkin when finished down the center and then the other and THEN sewed the two together or did you do the center stitching of both of them together? Does that make sense. I am going to try this very soon, just need to collect more laces and trims. Thanks for sharing.
@chrissiecrosser

Hello Kathy, thank you for taking time to watch and comment on my fabric book. I couldn't actually remember what I had done with the center as it is some time since I made this book but I have just got it out and looked and I have actually sewn two rows down the centre side by side but about maybe half an inch apart so as to create a kind of a spine. I would have sewn them both at the same time and not each page separately. Good luck with your book, I hope you will show us here. HTH Chrissie
