God I love the 8-bit era of Nintendo. Super Mario Bros. 2 was actually released in Super Mario All Stars as the Lost Levels on the SNES. Though I’ve heard they tweaked the difficulty. One of the big differences is that Pols Voice (the bunny rabbit monsters) in Zelda will die if you scream into the second player controller. James Rolfe and Mike Mattei did a really funny video about it for James and Mike Mondays.

I have both famicom systems, and I must say the sharp twin is a much better looking system than it's original counterpart. They are both completely awesome to collect for. My famicom collection is ever growing. I love the sound it makes when it starts to read the disk. It must be experienced to understand lol. They are fabulous piecees of 80s tech. It's only drawback is the chord is attatched to the back. The microphone is used in Legend if Zelda to kill the "pols voice" enemy aka the bouncing rabbit thing that is seen in dungeon 5. In the instructions it says that they hate loud noises, so scream your head off into the player 2 remote for an insta kill. The sound effects and opening music is also different on Zelda 1. Both famicoms are something I never knew I wanted until I got a hold of the original, then the sharp twin.

They were cheap at MGC a few years ago -- You can get an adapter so it will play off an SD card which is pretty cool. I have the adapter though I dont use it....

Gun Smoke was released on a disk system ? I had the game on the cartridge, or cassette how you prefer to call it. Now I have this game included at 198 in 1, which is btw a classy Family Computer multicard. I believe they managed to use the N64 style chip, since it holds 32 MB of capacity. Otherwise Ive never had any contact with the Disk System. I guess I only played the cartridge versions or conversions of those games.

Okay I watched your other video from 4 years back, (that you didn't link), and it didn't answer these questions either. Nice headset by the way :) (Man the internet can be so mean!) 3 questions, maybe you can answer maybe you cant. First question: So with the disc system, especially since they had the blanks that you could go to kiosks with -- were their games that were on the kiosks that never got put "officially" on sold discs? Like you had to go to 7-11 to get the exclusive download game and that was the only way to get it, (making those discs more rare). 2nd question: Were most NES games made into disc based versions? (I'm not sure how many NES games there are, 100's for sure, are there 100's of disc system games?). is there Final Fantasy, and Elevator Action, and Battletoads, etc... 3rd and final question - carts are relatively expensive, floppy disc are not, (custom floppies added to the cost Im sure). But it still must have been a pretty big money saver - Were the disc versions cheaper because of this? CDs were cheaper than carts but PSOne games weren't much cheaper than N64 were they? (Actually maybe PSOne had $50 games and N64 had more $60 and $70, I dont really remember). love your videos! (Man the internet can be so nice!)

1: I am not sure. I will say that I have never found a game that I could not locate a release for, but I only have searched for a dozen or so games for it. 2: Well there were about 200 disk games made, but I read that the Fami had around 1000 releases -- which is insane. 3: Disk versions were cheaper by a pretty good clip, but the drive was in the $100 range (In the 80's). Sadly by the end of the Disk's life there were carts that could store well over the devices capacity. Bonus: The disks could save high scores which could be brought to the kiosks and registered with Nintendo (It sent a fax -- freaking crazy). That said high scores were rewarded with prizes. I'm pretty sure the blue disks indicated that they were eligible for the contests.

@@Retr0Rob - ah I didn't think about capacity of cart verses disc, but 200 games is still impressive. And the interactivity at the kiosks is real neat. I know arcades there have cards and chips you bring to the arcade with you that store your data (like an Amiibo). Neat!

@@squidracerX For the record the sound quality was REALLY bad on that video. I'm considering re-visiting a lot of them just to correct the sound. I really did not realize how bad that was until I listen to them now. Yuck.

I'm confused. Did they all originally come with protection for the magnetic strip and for some reason got lost, or they didn't and only some did.
