The rabbit in the song 'Idol' is the guardian of the moon which is placed by a king in ancient Korea. The story is based on the legend. The king got seriously injured and lost all of his men in a battle. He barely managed to escape from the enemies and got lost in the woods. He's almost dying for starving/serious wounds and all of sudden a rabbit approached to him and stayed by him. He thought that the guardian of the woods sent him a spirit of the medical herb which was transformed to a rabbit to find and save him. The king recovered his energy since he had the rabbit. He managed himself to get back to his kingdom. The rabbit in the moon has become a symbol of immortality or eternity since then.

Idol is very representative of Korean culture. Basically people were saying that they weren’t staying true to their Asian roots and becoming too westernized to gain popularity. So they took a ton of korean inspired themes and amped it up a thousand times and was super extra about it. We love how they respond to haters.
