Jonathan Martinez is a 26-year-old man of God, husband, and father of three, who experience brutal physical abuse from his own father. Martinez has memories of his father making him and his brother fight for entertainment, a glass bottle being broken on his back, being thrown through a wall, and much more. Forgiving his father was not easy, but he did, and this is how it happened.

Wow... My dad is also from El Salvador and had to flee from there due to the war... Me and my siblings also suffered emotional and physical abuse by him.. he would whip us with the belt as well... My siblings can't forgive him still but after I came to Jesus I forgave him and now hearing your story I can understand so much more... Broken people break others but it can end with us once we come to Jesus

I have been trying to walk with the Lord these past couple years, Jesus freed me from alcohol and drug addiction, which I'm so grateful for. My mother was very abusive to me the most out of us 3 daughters. She abused me physically, verbally and emotionally. I found out her adoptive mother was even worst to her. But As i watched this testimony, I have an overwhelming feeling to tell my mom I forgive her. I want to so badly forgive her. Part of me feels like that helpless child still. Thank you for sharing your testimony brother.

I have a Mexican handyman who has been helping me around the house. He has been a blessing. I asked God, “What can I do to help him?” Part 1/2 came up on my fyp. I felt compelled to share what I watched with my handyman.Turns out, he shared that he went through something similar with an alcoholic father who abused him as well. He holds a lot of anger towards him. I told him to find forgiveness with the Lord’s help. It will set you free. Watching this video was not a coincidence. Helped me plant the seed. The Lord sees us and our pain. This is an amazing testimony. I believe this should be made into a movie to bring awareness and to help others. God can heal and restore!

Man I watched the 1st one & I'm just finishing this video & the Holy Spirit was just wrecking me as he was speaking. It was like I was hearing myself & reflecting on bits of my father & my mother. I was just balling my eyes out & the Lord was just like truly forgive them. Not knowing there were these things I was still harboring in my heart but the Holy Spirit was just exposing through the words he was speaking. I am so wrecked right now. Super thankful for his transparency knowing sharing all this is not easy but I received this breakthrough through his sharing. Ive been saved since 2012 radically yet now in this season of my life the Lord is really now going after the root. Im married with 3 kids been crying out to be truly a mother and woman as the Lord intended it to be. So this moment was so intentional by the Lord to truly be free & enter into the fullness of identity in Him for me. Thankful for this channel. I know I'm one of many who have & will be so encountered through these testimonies. As we overcome by the blood of the Lamb & the word of our testimony❤ so thankful right now 🙏 #WRECKED

This mind blowing 2 part testimony needs to be made into a major movie! It's like "I Can Only Imagine", and even more unimaginable! What an incredible testimony that could only be possible through the love of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit! Jesus was tortured and abused first, and He didn't deserve it... not only as a sinless and perfect human, but especially as our Creator and God! Yet He gives us grace and forgiveness when although we don't deserve it and can never do enough to earn all the blessings He's gifted to us! God bless you and your entire family, who is no longer under the curse of violence, addiction and abuse because you were obedient! Amen and hallelujah!!! 🙏🏼🤍✝️🕊

This resonates with me. I was physically/verbally abused by my dad. A man of God told me to forgive him. I failed and it has cost me blessings, friendships, marriages, relationships, and some of my health. I would encourage anyone facing the difficulty of forgiving someone that's hurt you, to do so. Pray the Lord enables/strengthens you to do it. So we aren't hurt, hurting other people.

This is such a powerful testimony. I am in tears because it reminds me of my relationship with my abusive mother. I got saved in 2016. She died in 2001, and died unsaved. I never had an opportunity like you did. She hated me until she took her last breath (well, this is how I have always felt). I was told that she did not want me to visit her in the hospital. I went to counseling, and was able to get to that place of forgiveness. Thanks for sharing your testimony John. 💗

@Adriana Pineda I pray you do forgive your dad, before it's too late. Here's my story: my dad was SO GOOD to me. I was the "daddy's girl." 1 day something happened between me & my sis. I always called my dad when this happened. He always gave me a pep talk & made me feel better. This day he did not. He actually sounded a bit irritated. The "little girl" in me felt hurt & disappointed. Because of that, I didn't speak to my dad for 2 years. And then he suddenly died. I realized then, my mistake. I saw how childish & immature I had acted. I realized the issue was with my sister & nothing to do with my dad, yet in a twisted way, I punished him for it. How dumb was that! And the biggest hurt-that I couldn't tell him how sorry I was. It's too late for me. That guilt consumes you something terrible. My point-don't wait until it's too late. I had to come to realize our Father forgives us for our sins. Through the pain & suffering of our Lord & Savior, we have been forgiven. We don't deserve it, but we received it. And because of this, we must forgive others.

Your story is the first one that I’ve heard that’s worse than “my father’s”! I knew there had to be someone out there, mine is brutal also. But I come second to you. Your life, your story, your testimony, your forgiveness is beautiful. The word says everything that we go through it with someone else. You sharing your testimony could be helping millions of people. I wanna thank you for your bravery. I also have forgiven my father and I also “now” have a relationship with him. But there are times I’m a little edgy so I think I need to work harder as well and forgiveness. Good blessings to you and all your family and bless God for pulling us out of what we knew was hell on earth.

I’m currently struggling w my walk with God. I know of him, but I don’t know who he is. I was going so well before, after a bad breakup, for some reason I fell back into my sin (that reason I feel weak and easily tempted to fall back into my old ways, I’m a hypocrite!) I can feel my soul cry for Jesus, longing to come back to him. I know God keeps telling me daily, through people, through social media, etc. to come back to him and I want to so badly, why do I love my sin more then him, when I have falling into his grace, his love, his peace, he’s given me peace, and the feeling is so beautiful, yet, why do I fall away from him still? I’m trying, but I know I’m failing! I resonate with this story. My mother and I never had the best relationship, still don’t. Where not on speaking terms again, and that makes me so angry. I have the best relationship w my dad, who hasn’t always been around. He recently came to know Christ, when before he would basically turn me down when I tried to talk to him about God or Jesus. One day I was praying and kept praying for my dad and mom, siblings, family and friends. Gif answered my prayer with my dad, praise Jesus. My dad was working on an alarm at a church, when he said he had this overwhelming peace over come him, something he’s never felt before and I know that was my God who answered my prayer and brought my dad to know him, like I was getting to know him. Now my dad attends church each Sunday. Thank you my God, my heart longs for you, forgive me for what I am doing. Redeem me from my sins. Help me hate the sin I so easily fall into please.

His testimony is so powerful. It is also very convicting to me. I have said that I forgive my parents..but..j I think I'm just lying to myself. When jon said he tried to put himself in hard situations with his dad such as just asking him how his day was...made me feel so convicted. I don't even try to do that with my own parents. I just sit with them in awkward silence or let them do all the talking while I say the least of words... Oh father God. I'm so sorry... please help me honor my parents.. and forgive them..

I understand. My parents are salvadorean. Both parents also fled the war and came to Canada around 40 years ago. Mom died when I was little. My dad had very torturous ways of punishing us. Making us kneel on the ground with our arms and hands to be held straight up in the air for 30-60 minutes or longer. if our arms got tired and started to slip or he seen us lower our arms, he would take his belt and hit us with it. We were only like 4-5 years old. He beat my brothers. My brother when he was like 6-7 pooped in the shower (I think he really had to go and couldn’t hold it) and my dad “taught” him a lesson by scrubbing him with his own feces. We got hit for everything and my dad didn’t just “hit or spank us” he beat and knew where to hit us for it to hurt. He would hit us specifically on the bones that stuck out. Like shoulders, hips. I swear salvadorean parents have a whole different way of punishment. I would get hit for not understanding my homework. But my dad had it way worse growing up. I forgave him. ❤ please pray he finds God. My one brother was so mad at him he stopped talking to him for 9 years and finally this year he forgave him. They still have a long way to go….

Oh I can totally relate to his story about how he felt about his father. I remember harboring all this anger and pain towards my own father. I no longer feel that way towards him anymore I feel more pity than anything for him now. We have reconnected but it's still strange because he never raised me and the last few times he communicated with me was because he wanted something from me. I relate to this story as my Father was an immigrant from central America. He was orphaned by Age 8 and then was sent to live with his great aunt in America. Long story short, he's is an alcoholic and took care of us financially but was verbally and physically abusive. My mom is a NARCISSIST and they're been married since before I was born in 1973. I think it would be easier to want to be around my parents if they were saved. I mean they are still toxic as hell 😓😓😓. All I know to do is not be around them hardly at all for the sake of peace. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I cried during this testimony and I can absolutely attest to what He’s saying about forgiveness because I am in the same process with my father. Not through abuse but I dealt with a a lot abandonment issues. When I gave my life to Jesus I told God I could never forgive my dad and God showed me that he would walk with me through the process and help me heal, well he did and though that wasn’t the only time I had to forgive my dad, it was the first time and God was present every step of the way with me. This testimony is going to set people free, the words they’re hearing are words of God- I know it because I have experienced this too and God has set me free!

Wow!!! What a transparent young man. This is Heartwarming for me.I can relate to him. My dad wasn't anything like his father(abusive behavior),I wasn't treated like my brothers were.We weren't close either.I was also told by many,You look like just your father.I hated hearing that.My dad wasn't very nice to my mother.I see him hug others, but never hugging me.I look the most like him too.He hurt me a lot and I wanted his love. The Most High is healing me.

Great to hear from Jonathan again. Amazing life story and beautiful testimony. I’m so glad his dad and sister got saved. It might help his brother to recall the abuse, and experience the need to forgive. God knows. Father of Jesus, I lift up Jonathan’s brother to You, in agreement with his family’s prayers for him. Breathe on him, Lord. Amen.

Thank you for making all the testimony vids they are showcasing the awesome redemption qualities of God still to this day. Thank you Jonathan for your story. It helps me heal too. My situation wasn't as intense, but the abuse still left me with scars. Between me and God I forgive them constantly because those feelings rise sometimes, and I've tried to seek reconciliation with my parents, but they are in denial about anything. It's hard sometimes, but it really makes a difference to know that God will be all I need even if my mom or dad forsake me. God's grace be with you all in Jesus Name!

MY STEPMOTHER BEAT ME, NEGLECTING MY BROTHER AND I. MY DAD REMARRIED BECAUSE MY MOM AND SISTER WERE KILLED BY A DRUNK DRIVER AS THEY CROSSED THE ROAD. MY STEPMOTHER WAS SUPPOSED TO LOOK AFTER US! I WAS ONLY 4 WHEN MY MOM PASSED. INSTEAD I HAD TO DEAL WITH THE TRAUMA OF LOSING MY MOM AND SISTER, THE TRAUMA FROM A WICKED STEPMOTHER AND THEN SHE GOT ME MARRIED OFF TO A COMPLETE STRANGER AT THE AGE OF 18? IT WAS A FORCED MARRIAGE; I WAS STILL STUDYING AT COLLEGE. I WAS IN A LOVELESS MARRIAGE UNTIL GOD GOT ME OUT AFTER 5 AND A HALF YEARS. JESUS TOLD ME THAT HE CAME TO SET THE CAPTIVE FREE; I DID NOT REALISE HE WAS REFERRING TO ME. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE…AFTER LISTENING TO YOUR TESTIMONY I REALISE 40 YEARS LATER; I STILL FEEL ANGER TOWARDS HER. I TOO WANT TO FORGIVE…I FORGIVE YOU 😭 IN JESUS’ NAME.

I was confused by this testimony, I cried and cried when I heard the horrible things that this great servant of God had to go through, I thought that when they lived something like this it was always because they did not seek God or go to church. But the mother did not stop congregating. I imagine God having to endure the mistreatment with this boy and apparently not answering his prayers when all this suffering had a purpose. Reach many souls who are treated this way. Jesus was always with them, he never left them by his side. But he had a purpose and although it hurts terribly, God is magnified when he sees the wonders he can achieve when people surrender to Him. I hope many people hear this testimony, which I know will be a blessing to many people who may be going through things. so simple (which at that moment are very big for them) but when they hear this they take perspective that there are people in the world who really suffer terrible things and we drown in a glass of water. Child abuse has always hurt me greatly, whether psychological, physical or sexual. I wish all the children in the world did not have to go through this type of thing. But the evil is so much that without God in his hearts it is impossible for it not to happen. The King is coming soon to do justice

How I longed for my dad to just try to be a dad to me...To my brother....family. When he died, I never cried. A couple of years later, I found myself crying for a my beloved dog. And I knew I was wrong. My dad had been saved, and did start talking to me like a man...He had tried....But the abuses and lifetime of anger twards me, for pointing out his lies. His terrible anger. I knew I God wanted me to forgive him. I started ssying it, but felt nothing. It took years to feel forgiveness. The anger is still there, and the pain never ends.

Wow this was amazing! I was in tears the first time and this time as well. Amen you are all survivors. May the lord continue to break the walls that try to keep You in that pain. God bless you and your family! Lord, thank you for helping this family get through their trauma. As they say hurt people hurt people. Everyone has a story as to why they do what they do. Some are strong enough to not want to live that life and out an end to the generational curse and some continue in it. Wow, thank you so much for your vulnerability in sharing all you went through. God bless you always!
