I don't think you understand. He means assume something is right will get you killed. Reacher always assumes something is wrong or bad until he is proven wrong, so his statement still stands. Let me give you an example, let's say he assumes that the cop is a good person and turns out he's a dirty cop. Then he sells him out and gets Reacher killed. On the other hand, Reacher assumes he's a bad cop until the cop proves that he's clean, now he's alive!😮

Reacher noticed how Rusco protected the mom and kid from the snipers, he mentions this when Rusco comes to pick Reacher up to give chase, this was basically the turning point for him, from being suspicious of him, to actually respecting him. He respected him enough to leave a kid with him, and in the end, it paid off, Rusco gave his life to protect the kid, hell, took most of the fuckers with him, just that Reacher could also really torture the last remaining guy in the hospital.

I haven't seen Reacher yet, and this is the first time seeing this clip. The bald guy looks identical to another character in Tulsa King, literally IDENTICAL. I know they're the same actor but my first thought was "woah they're connected??"
